I moved from MA to AZ in '92. It's nice seeing Boston again from the drivers perspective. So many improvements. I love the "before and after" shots and your usage of street signs. A very well done video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the "ride" Jim.I live in Alabama and have had the pleasure of visiting Boston and Franklin 3 times, the last time was 16 years ago.Would love to go back but at my age 76,I will not likely do so .So much rich history there !! Again Thanks and GOD Bless You !!
You have the best music in your videos. AND ... Wow, I love Boston. I've been there but it was a long time ago. It's so intriguing to see it through the lens of a camera like this -- you get to see how clean the city is.
Thank you very much Carrie, this is my best and most recent (2014 but the same gear I use now) Boston video if you have not seen it yet. ruclips.net/video/dXcIyX2_gio/видео.html
Simply fantastic...smooth jazz song worked perfectly for inner city drive. You continue to amaze me how you can pick "just the right song" for your projects. Every time I see one of your videos it's like going to school for me.
Wicked nice. I grew up in Boston, but moved out here in 92. Missed the Big Dig, really odd to not see the Central Artery. I worked on Broad St a block from it, I could see the cars on it from the front windows in the studio. I'd walk under it to go to the Store 24 in front of the Aquarium, grab a beer and some chips, then sit behind the Aquarium and watch the harbor. This has made me homesick. Very nice, thanks for posting it.
Thanx for this video. Good memories of Boston, rented a car and drove a few of these roads, when we went wrong and couldn't find the right way back. Greets from Holland
You have a very beautiful city. I am from Belarus and imminent plans to visit your country. And the first thing I'm going to New York. Thank you Freewayjim for what you are doing.
REAL TRUTH Fort myers and Cape coral are becoming heavily congested and are very expensive areas for what most of the native population makes. Most kids (19-27) i know plan on leaving, myself included, to head to higher paying northern states (like ma)
I’m a kid dream to go to Boston...just because one day I saw a coffee shop on google street. I believe it’s close to Cambridge area...and since that Moment I think I fall in love with Boston city.... it’s very expensive for me to get that ticket but I will. Look forward for my dream trip to that coffee shop.
Ghost ramps are actually relatively common, more than you would think. In many highly dense areas of the United States, interstates were funded and planned but never built due to community opposition. But by the time they were cancelled, sometimes the interchanges were already partially built. It was more cost-effective to block off and ignore the ghost ramps than to demolish them, and possibly risk damaging the rest of the structure.
Thanks, the reason I shoot street tours when I do is because crawling along in heavy traffic does not make for a good video, plus I could not cover as much ground within a reasonable time frame. Also, the things you mentioned about the "essence" of Boston, while interesting in person, do not translate well to video due to a stationery camera. I will continue to do street tours in the lightest traffic possible as I feel it allows people to see more of the city in an uncluttered setting.
+griffin324 I-95 would have followed across the Tobin Bridge and split to the SW near Mass Ave, there is all kinds of information on this out there. Also check out bostonroads.com. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstate_95_in_Massachusetts
Well it's not only a good tour in Boston! It's an amazing city! I think that it's one of the most beautiful i' ve ever seen. Εven if it is a big city with very movement, you can see green everywhere. In each place among roads. Just the perfect city to live. The city that exists in the beauties of nature, where you can enjoy persons and calm.Everywhere trees, beauty, serene life. Even you are alone, in this city you are not alone!!!!
5:38 Speaking of T Stations, you should mention that the TD Garden also has the MBTA North Station, also the southern terminus for the Amtrak Downeaster. 6:19 Now that's a long on-ramp! I bet I could drive it at 62MPH. On the other hand, if I were in control, I would finally build this ramp and highway, and actually make it I-89 from here, charging up through Cambridge and Arlington, up to where US-3 would be at the I-95 interchange in Burlington.
Excuse me, if this person is on the internet he has the worlds information at his finger tips, nor did I see you offering an answer other than your snide remark toward me so STFU! If the OP took it upon himself to find the answer he'd have had it within minutes instead of waiting five months.
Blake Steenrod I have a couple Columbus OH Videos coming up in November, in no way, shape or form is Columbus Ohio a better or more interesting city than Boston.
+Blake “NFLweatherlover2014” Steenrod Not even close. Columbus Ohio is not very big and it is plain and lacks character. The infrastructure in Boston is a world apart from Columbus. Not anywhere close to being in a similar category. The infrastructure in Boston is some of the most complex in North America.
Thank you! I try to film big cities when traffic is light, heavy traffic does not make for very good video IMO. I have some Boston videos from 2009 that are a little more "active" for lack of a better term.
My favourite city in the world live in Sydney Australia and been to Boston on 4 different occasions but only in June July not game enough to visit during winter to bloody cold and been from Sydney not to much snow around but it's a long flight over especially if there's a long lay over at LA but all worth it when you finally get there.
Thank you! I think the benefits of the Big Dig Project were badly needed but the price tag of $14-15 Billion was utterly ridiculous so wether it was worth it or not is questionable. They (Boston) had to do something though so I guess it's water/money under the bridge.
I guess I was looking at there schools too much (best ones; Duke, NC State, North Carolina University). Boston College & Hartford are in Boston. I think I should read more about Boston other than the Celtics or the Big dig & read the city life. I friend also told me Boston is great.
Blake Steenrod Boston also has Harvard, Boston University, Northeastern, Berklee College of Music (top music school in the US) and Many more, it's got NC beat there too.
I moved from MA to AZ in '92. It's nice seeing Boston again from the drivers perspective. So many improvements. I love the "before and after" shots and your usage of street signs. A very well done video. Thanks for sharing.

I am in Boston now and watching this. The city is gorgeous!
Boston is one of the nice and pleasant cities of the world..
Simply fantastic...smooth jazz song worked perfectly for inner city drive. You continue to amaze me how you can pick "just the right song" for your projects. Every time I see one of your videos it's like going to school for me.
How beautiful it is to be here and be able to succeed in my work, Thank God for allowing me to enjoy this beautiful place.🤗💞
it has been 20 years since i drove those streets in boston. i left in 92 thanx for the ride.
A nice tribute to a beautiful city.
Greetings from Sweden!
I love street tours. Every city should have videos like this. :)
I also love street tours. I totally agree with you. Right, every city
should have videos like this.
Great video! This was so cool to watch even though I’m from Boston and already seen it

Fantastic video! The whole video is very interesting. Thanks for sahre
Thank you for watching!
I've never seen the streets of Boston so deserted! Try this drive at 5pm on a Friday! LOL
Seems to be midmorning Sunday.
REAL TRUTH Fort myers and Cape coral are becoming heavily congested and are very expensive areas for what most of the native population makes. Most kids (19-27) i know plan on leaving, myself included, to head to higher paying northern states (like ma)

Great video, Jim! I can't wait to see Storrow Drive West, as I only get to drive on the Eastbound Side.
Beautiful city.
I love Boston! Great video of an area that I usually traverse on foot!
Thank you!
Love the music in the beginning so relaxed and chilled
City tours are very interesting especially from an onboard point of view! Nice job!
Went to grad school in Boston 2002-2003. Still my favorite city.
I love these vids!
Thank you!

I miss Boston.. I lived in Somerville.. had to leave because it was too expensive.. great place.. Thanks!!!! :)))
Thanks for the videos.
excellent as always jim
Looks-likw I can take 90East from Chicago straight to Boston..might do that
No pls stay where you are we don't want Chicago thugs
It's listed in the closing credits "Liquid Soul" by Chris Standring.
You should do a video of route 128/ I-95 especially the northern half.
Nice video! Guessing it was filmed Sunday at dawn with the way the pike looked.
Thank you, a Sunday at 9AM as stated in the closing credits :)
I miss this city so much.
Nice tour. You like Chris Standing, don't you? Great track by him.

Freewayjim Yes, I enjoyed it much. Thank you, Jim :)

I can see the highway from the old photo, while I don't see it on the new one.
This city is truly beautiful! It also seems so neat.
Are there many cultural attractions in the Boston area?
Timo Engelvaart not really, mostly history related stuff
These videos are awesome.
Beautiful song choice, my friend.
thanks. My bad. . .I was multitasking while watching this video. lol Love the videos. Aspire me to travel even the more.

really nice tour of a city I've never been to.
We wish we more time to check out Boston. I will next time will check out the streets of Boston. Thanks =)
I wish it was that smooth of a drive! Glad you sped up the film because that would've been a 4 hour clip.
Thanks, hope you enjoy the NYC videos.
You are welcome, I hope you enjoy your visit to America.
Any idea what the Central Artery's route number was when it opened to when it became I-93?
+griffin324 MA-3, and eventually I-95
+Freewayjim Oh wow. So did I-95 continue onto the Artery from the Canton interchange or did I-95 start at the Artery?
+griffin324 I-95 would have followed across the Tobin Bridge and split to the SW near Mass Ave, there is all kinds of information on this out there. Also check out bostonroads.com. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstate_95_in_Massachusetts
+Freewayjim Great thanks for the info!
Omg Boston is huge!!
It's quite small
the city is the same size as San Francisco in area.
It’s not that big... less than a million people. Go to NYC - nearly 9 million people, definitely more of a big city feel.
Boston is very much a city that feels like a town.
Well it's not only a good tour in Boston! It's an amazing city! I think that it's one of the most beautiful i' ve ever seen. Εven if it is a big city with very movement, you can see green everywhere. Well done Jim!!
Luv it all!!

Yes, all that info is posted in the closing credits (June 17, 2012).
oh ok
Hey, I noticed you said you live in Boston. I may have to move there for a job, do you know of any nice apartments?
5:38 Speaking of T Stations, you should mention that the TD Garden also has the MBTA North Station, also the southern terminus for the Amtrak Downeaster.

Boston, Mass. Great City
I think Columbus Ohio is better
Blake Steenrod I have a couple Columbus OH Videos coming up in November, in no way, shape or form is Columbus Ohio a better or more interesting city than Boston.
I guess I've never been outside of Ohio to the east. So I've never seen Boston. I never herded of Boston other than the Celtics until the Big Dig.
Columbus is like the Houston of the Midwest.
REALLY NICE VIDEO! THANK YOU VERY MUCH! I SAW ON THIS VIDEO, WHAT I REALLY WANTED TO WATCH, THE CITY !!! =)
Thanks!
The update was definitely more aesthetically pleasing
Agreed, and more functional.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Boston, Mass. Beautiful city, miss it.
Thanks, glad you liked it!
its a great place to live.. wish i could move back ...very expensive..great city.. enjoy you stay:)))
How was New York, did you like the city?
if the stub is for a route cancelled over 50yrs ago, why is it still there sucking up space?
Not too much traffic? What time of day / week was this?
I am hoping to visit Boston,MA. Next year to see these remarkable skyscrapers, stores, restaurants, hotels, malls, banks, etc.
Great video. Good Job! Do you think the Big Dig was worth the price tag? BTW Go Boston, stay strong ~ love from Cali
It's called "Liquid Soul" by Chris Standring, I post all the music info in the closing credits.
I will go, what’s the best period to visit?
I'm from Boston born and raised I currently live in Miami Florida but it's a very beautiful city can't lie
Nice tour around Boston....car??
I love rolling through this city.
Thank you! I try to film big cities when traffic is light, heavy traffic does not make for very good video IMO. I have some Boston videos from 2009 that are a little more "active" for lack of a better term.
Wow. How did you hit virtually no traffic?
I love Boston reminded me when i live in Providence RI and going to Brown 1998 to 2000

Hey, where's the sound?
Thanks!! Where are the people from the streets? :-)
