  • We enjoy a nice ride on train 5344 from Thorndale to PHL. I like to do my rides with the sun behind me instead of in front of me as it looks much better. We ride the route of the famous Pennsylvania Railroad Paoli Local. It’s the beginning of the pm rush-hour and we see a lot of passing trains enroute. Enjoy.

The old Manor Senior High School was between the Daylesfird and Berwyn stations on tge eastbound side of US 30 - the vans and Checker cabs ran to the Berwyn station on holidays.

    Great video.
The fact that the ROW on this line is so wide blows my mind a bit. It's a testament to how much capital the PRR spent in order to move millions of tons of freight per year. Now, if only Amtrak and the state could spend millions to get it up to "higher speed" specs...

15-39 years ago your train from Thorndale/Parkesburg has the Roll Sign R5 Doylestown towards Philly other routes to have this are R2 Warminster from Newark,DE to Philly R3 West Trenton from Elwyn to Philly. If you have catenary that can clear double stacks then it's a Reading RR line but can't clear double stacks PRR. For Paoli the Ideal setup is two Island platforms 48' high 1.21m Amtrak uses the inner pair SEPTA outer tracks and then have them merge after the station. 36:27 Interstate 476 Blue Route Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension the sign mounted on the bridge actually says Exit 16 Interstate 76 Philadelphia Valley Forge the correct way is Philadelphia Pittsburgh since I-76 is the main Philly to Pittsburgh interstate highway

Road this route many times while going to school in Wayne, PA in the fifties. Some of the stations haven't changed although Wayne has been updated.

I can’t control the railfan window unfortunately. I try to compensate by shooting in the direction away from the sun. It helps tremendously. I love cloudy days. It’s good either way.

Any idea for the reason for the slow running from Villanova to Bryn Mawr? It seemed totally unnecessary.

Amtrak train crossed over in front of us. It gave our train restricting signals.

@@3985uprr yep, the Pennsylvanian!!! I was on that train last month when I took Amtrak out to Johnstown to visit a friend of mine out there, as well as doing some sight-seeing. and I have to say man, just taking the train out there alone netted some beautiful scenery along the way, especially when coming up on the famous Horseshoe Curve, located just outside of Altoona.

Wow, thank you! I couldn’t speak on this video because I had to use a selfie stick to get the camera as close to the window as I could because I wasn’t able to sit in the usual seat where I can talk

@@3985uprrI'm quite sure 9591 goes non-stop to Bryn Mawr and all stops to Thorndale. And it departs Temple University at 4:23pm. It'll be your first time riding a push-pull equipment.

I enjoy your videos but I enjoy them even more if you narrate and add your comments while filming.

    • @3985uprr

Because I cannot sit in my desired second row in order to get a good image I am forced to use a selfie stick. Because of that I’m rather far away from the camera, so that’s why I don’t narrate. As compensation, I lace the video with lots of info graphics. In the uncommon occasion that I can sit in the second row then I am right on top of the camera, and I can easily narrate.

You are entitled to your opinion of course. I’m big on aesthetics and the 5’s look and sound better than the 4’s. I get it about their mechanical abilities or inabilities.
