Nepal's Connectivity with China: Status and Prospect

    Nepal has been trying for long to extend better trade connectivity with China, but how feasible is it? Find out more about it on the discussion.
    The speakers for the discussion are:
    Purushottam Ojha: Purushottam Ojha has served for almost 14 years in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies in the senior position of Joint Secretary and Secretary. He has mentored the team of expert in formulation of Trade Policy and the Nepal Trade Integration Strategy. He has also led the Nepali delegation in the bilateral trade negotiations with various countries including India and China.
    Laxman Bahadur Basnet: Laxman Bahadur Basnet is a former Executive Director at Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Board under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply. He has been the Chief Tax Officer at the Inland Revenue Office of Pokhara, Biratnagar and Kathmandu. He has also been a Delegate Member for Tax Treaty with India.
    Namrata Sharma: Namrata Sharma has over 20 years of work experience in women empowerment and journalism in Nepal, Kenya, UK, India, and Afghanistan. Namrata Sharma, former chairperson of Center for Investigative Journalism (CIJ), is now Editor of Nariswor Magazine and the Chief Board Advisor of Human Rights Journalists' Association (HURJA) Nepal. She is also a weekly columnist at Rising Nepal and regular contributor to Nepali Times.
    Presenter:
    Shraddha Ghimire: Shraddha Ghimire is currently working as a Junior Research Fellow at Centre for Social Inclusion and Federalism (CESIF) under the thematic area ‘Economy and Development’. She has completed her a bachelors in economics (with honors) from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University, India and holds an ISS master certificate in International Development Studies from University of Oslo, Norway.
    Moderator:
    The panel was moderated by Shuvangi Poudyal, who is a Research Fellow at CESIF Nepal. She has a Master’s Degree in International Relations and Political Science from The University of Warwick, United Kingdom. She also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Amity University, Noida.
