At this point i think the stop leak seal sweller is the way to go. Also after a week if you can get to the gasket bolts it helps to give them all a snug-up, like a 1/4 turn. That’s what’s worked for me.
I ran a 2011 Rolls Royce Ghost until recently. The car had barely reached 20,000 miles when I got it. During my ownership it never missed a beat. Service costs were around £4,500 per service, but the smile factor this car gave me was priceless...
I got the same story for my 2017 Porsche Cayenne Turbo. It has a leak in the power steering pump. The car has 19,000 miles, it’s seven years old. The mechanic and the service writer said they had never seen one of these pumps fail. The vehicle has the dynamic suspension so the power steering pump runs all of that as well. A regular power steering pump is $400. Mine is $2,600. Porsche said repairs out the door are $4,500. So when I considered the pump, labor and the 2 gallons of fluid I guess it’s not terrible. The thing is, like you said I can buy a lot of power steering fluid for $4,500. I know that sounds ghetto but I’m not even getting a warning from the system telling me I’m low. There’s nothing on the ground indicating there’s a leak. I’ve had several 911s including a 2008 Turbo which is sick fast. So this is my first Porsche Cayenne. Great car, lots of room, very fast, and a great highway cruiser.
I will share with you what a poor white shade tree mechanic with 67 years on my feet has learned. I will pay a mechanic to do something that I feel is beyond my skill set, and if he will allow me to watch him do it, then next time. I might try it, and save some money. But, here is something else, the cars are getting more and more beyond my abilities every model year. I have started a repair, and had to pay for the car to be towed to a dealership or specialist after I couldn't finish it. So, tread carefully Bob. And Happy Motoring.
The Rolls Royce content is how I got started watching your channel. There is not much content about the Phantoms. I used to own a Bentley Turbo R and I really like the Phantom's. I think the Phantom will be my next car purchase. I also like learning about all your vehicles including your coach. I really like the older stainless steel Prevost coaches. Thank you for your content.
It's a shame that when they build a car like a Rolls-Royce, a Bentley or a Mercedes they are not built to last at least 100,000 miles with just oil changes, tire rotations and brakes. A Rolex will last for years if it's properly maintained. But, these car companies are all the same. They want you to keep coming back to the dealership and dropping a bundle.
@@SlickTV.I would agree with your statement, he’s probably not a Rolls Royce fan, but he seems to believe in this product, and he’s not wrong, Bob will be the first to tell you, you need money to maintain a Rolls.
1800 to replace a valve cover and sparks plugs… parts shouldn’t be more than 200. So you’re paying 1600 for like an hour or 2 of labor🤯. Im going to start working on cars again because of folks like you… Are you that rich?!? Im a millionaire and I won’t pay 1600 for an hour or two of work. Wealthy yup; wasteful nope. Take that money and go buy some sports balls for kids and drop it off at local sports center instead.
Rolls-Royce video Bob how do you like that? I’m just messing with you. I enjoy all your videos including the Rolls-Royce I enjoy your humor thanks Bob keep up the good work my family and I will keep watching ya.
A shop wanted $700 to fix my oil pan leak. I started using AT 205 and after 2 oil changes, no more leak. But I have to use it all the time. Every oil change. The thing is I've read it cuts down on your engine lubrication protection.
Hey Bob, I love the English culture as I'm from England too. I love tea as well. So it's fine really! I love the content you create on Rolls Royce! I love the way car rides etc! You're good! Love to see the series on the barn find of the 73 corniche! Keep it going! Take care, Josh
Sounds like I might as well keep my 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible. I respect guys like you who take on the challenge of a task the average person wouldn't have the guts to touch. I use a synthetic blend and just dump a little in when it gets low.
What do you expect, BMW product BMW high cost of maintenance. I owned a BMW M5 it cost me $16,000 in service costs for the 4 years I owned it vs my current daily driver which is a older Honda that has cost me on average $100 per year in service for the last 4 years or so. The last Honda I owned the front brake pads lasted 10 years, the rear ones 18 years still had the original clutch with over 400,000 km on the odometer. The only cars I would own now would be Honda, Acura, Toyota or Lexus.
"Wizard" does NOT know Rolls Royces! His mechanics are awesome, but they are NOT versed on RR either! PS I agree with you! Just because you have the money does NOT mean you want to be used! I think you are smart! I service all my Rolls Royces (current 8)!
Having a Rolls Phantom can be expensive I'm afraid, Robert. But I love Rolls Royce just as much as you do... But you drive a Rolls Phantom. I'm just an enthusiast for the brand. Very best wishes
Same with any old plastic wire connectors. the locking flanges break when try to unsnap them once they get about 20 yrs old. even if they are behind the dash and cluster.
When I was 22 years old I bought a pristine '70 Mercedes C250. It had been in storage for a couple of years, but only had 22,000 miles. Within the first year it required a valve job because of the leaded to no lead gas change required by the government. The valve guides had to be replaced. But after that, no much went wrong that I couldn't fix myself. Taking cars to the dealer for service is something I only do while they're in warranty.
Good on you. The RR is great, don't worry about the oil leak... BMW motors have lots of plastic... I have a couple of MINI's... I know... do it same time you do the timing chain... looking forward to some more videos on your new Corniche ... O do you need an air con in the new garage for the Royce?
the dude from project farm is theee ishhhh!!!!!!! and what he does is super hard work. salute to him. just editing videos alone consistantly is hard work. salute to u bob too
Some 5-10 years ago I was quoted something crazy to have a Buick LaCrosse front end redone ... and I told them for that I could put 4 new tires on it 5 times. It shut them up pretty quick.
I have my 2015 Mercedes S550 at the shop right now , among some other stuff they’re changing my transmission fluid as well , price , $180 bucks … rear differential fluid change is 60 bucks … I love my S class … 😊
Bob you might want to down size to a Honda. I owned 3 new Ford's and all leaked oil on my concrete driveway within first year or so and after three years dripped oil in at least three areas. Now on my second Honda and even though second one is seven year old never dripped a drop of oil onto my driveway.
🤔😅 Come on, when you own and drive on cars, especially older Rolls_Royce and Bentley vehicles. You will always have oil 🛢 stains on your driveway, or garage floor. Part of the joy !!......😅
The leaking valve cover gasket sometimes drips oil on the exhaust manifold and you get a neausating smell through the vents You won't smell it when you're moving but i you will n stop and go traffic
You can hang some soft nerf balls or ping pong balls on the right side of the container and align it with the side mirror or front left corner to show you if you're aligned when reversing in.
It helps if you are able to do the every car repair job yourself. And I mean every.. One you understand what is involved to do each repair so you can determine if you are getting a fair price from the garage. Two, you know which jobs are very messy. I do not like to gey dirty. Three, you absolutely know you have the tools and facilitate to do the repair job. How do hou get to this levelif you are not a licensed mechanic? A lot of rebuilds and restorals. And I mean a lot. Plus specialize in certain car brands and work on as many different year of the models that you can get your hands on. That means having friends and acquaintences that will let you work on their cars.Especially on the really exoensive repairs. I found it challenging at times be the feeling I got when it was done wass worth it. As I say if anyone could do it what is the point of doing it other than to save money. The work that only a few can do is where the real reward lies.
If you remember the third installment of the Cannonball Run (Cannonball Fever or Speed Zone depending where you live) the two millionaire brothers in the film drive red with black interior Bentley convertibles (the RR Corniche equivelant) and they looked fantastic.
I say keep the chrome and honestly it's YOUR car and you should be allowed to do what YOU want! If you want to wrap it in red go for it! Hell if anything I say go for a two tone like your other one, I could totally see this car wrapped in red with a black roof but whatever you do is your choice man, can't wait to see what you have planned for it, Cheers!
I look at your Rolls Royce adventures as...your business, and if you enjoy it, who cares what anyone else thinks? What matters is that you enjoy the car you like.
I don’t care what anyone says, cars are expensive to maintain full stop. I have a 20 year old Merc CLK that costs me on average $1,000 a year in maintenance and a 8 year C class that costs me equally $1,500 every year, cars are simply expensive to maintain, doesn’t matter the brand or car make. Unless it’s a 1920s Defender that can run on water.
Love your channel, am a 68 year old Mercedes guy.... Red is great, but it looks soooo classy like it is.... Dan I always wanted a RR, but no longer live in SO CAL, now in NW Arkansas. Try to get proper service on a RR in Arkansas...
That’s a beautiful car. I’d ride in that beast. I love the red and black. Kounts Customs uses a great wrap company. Can’t remember the name. But they are in LV.
Couple of ideas. I would have done the trans oil and filter change over your pit. Ive used Valvoline max life atf in many different Zf trans both Range Rovers and Vw with no issues. Its like the dealer "Fluid doesnt need changing as its filled for life". I would also start using t5 15/40 as the lighter oils with higher mileages tend to lose the fuel savings due to wear and leaks. YMMV
If you're driving a Camry, you're probably not a car guy. A car guy will go to great lengths to enjoy the experience of a vehicle. Sometimes that means adding a quart of oil every month or so to keep things going. Other times, it means phoning a friend to come help you swap an axle on on the side of the road in the middle of the night. That's what makes it fun and creates memories. What's your most memorable experience driving your Camry? Life is too short to drive boring cars.

Red and chrome would be very striking and honestly pretty… GO FOR IT
Great content. Nice to see your car issues. And how you deal with it.Yhank you
At 205 is amazing. Pour one bottle at a time though add more as needed because it works over time. Super strong stuff better than everything else.
Loving the RR content!!!
Absolutely a beautiful car so smooth and quiet.

I agree with what your saying, they should build them like a Lexus
Hey Bob, Scotty Kilmer swears by a product called AT 205 re-seal… scratch that, you just announced that you ordered a case of it 😂
Let us know how it works!
Maybe try snugging down the valve cover bolts that you can get to, I know in my Toyota 4runner they get a little loose and leaks sometimes.
Scotty is a legend. But he would call this car a massive money pit! Buy Toyota or Lexus.
@@SlickTV.I would agree with your statement, he’s probably not a Rolls Royce fan, but he seems to believe in this product, and he’s not wrong, Bob will be the first to tell you, you need money to maintain a Rolls.
Scotty Kilmer is a nutcase 😂.
I took my Beemer there and guess what... I had leaking valve cover as well. Also replaced my plugs it was $1800 so I guess I got off easy.

$250 labor to change my trans fluid on my 2006 phantom at my local bmw mechanic , I brought the zf parts from fcpeuro
I have an old Mercedes and my valve covers showed signs of small leaks. I just torqued the bolts to the highest specs no more leaks!!!!

Might be leaking from lack of use. Driving it might ‘plump up’ the gaskets and reduce the leaking.
Key word Brits invented for minor oil leaks is "Seepage" & think of it as free rustproofing :) .Bob just love your videos😘!
Same with any old plastic wire connectors. the locking flanges break when try to unsnap them once they get about 20 yrs old. even if they are behind the dash and cluster.
That car is over the top!!😊
I enjoy your videos, so casual doing creative stuff.
We are neurotic and perfectionists....the reason of our troubles...❤. Regards from Athens Greece...
Right move, a small oil leak is fine. You just keep your eyes on it so it dont get worse
thats pretty reasonable i paid 900 for transmission flush and fill for my 2013 audi s8

Absolutely right wait until something major has to be done then you have to worry about it at that time

The pictures of the red cars with the black looks way better than red and brightwork pictures IMO. Jayman...
Go for the red, not sure on trim. Let us know when you are done and when you have her out. Would love to see it on the prowl.
The good thing with that small oil leak is that you get fresh oil every month 😂
as long as its leaking. its got fluid.
Do it that would be so timeless.
Red with the black trim looks dope 🔥
Yes it would look lovely in red Bob and I agree with you about the oil leaks,if not harmful to the car nice video 👍👍👍👍🇬🇧Manchester England 🇬🇧
The red with the black grill is sweet
Matt Red with Black Grills look sick.. You gotta do it..
And I'm English by the way 😜
Make sure to get your pinky up while drinking your tea 😜...
Yes wrap it red with gold wheels 👍
Red and black chrome would be insane! Everyone would know it's Bob coming through.
My 2018 Audi S4 had an oil leak at the timing cover. $5200 to fix at the dealer!
I agree ,and you are so so lucky to have a Pit !
Glad I have a Chevy.
Project Farm is just an amazing channel Bob! So cool you’re a fan of his too!

Do things just to piss off others. It’s the way I live and I get a kick out of it.
🤔 Are you a government politician ?. Or worse a used car 🚙 salesman !!..
If you can drive 200.000 cars… then you can pay for the proper service.
Don’t complain about…. Or buy Toyota Camry.
If a used BMW 7 series is garbage, imagine what this would be to own !
You can hang some soft nerf balls or ping pong balls on the right side of the container and align it with the side mirror or front left corner to show you if you're aligned when reversing in.
I’m guessing it uses the ZF6HP. So it should be similar to many rear wheel drive vehicles that use this transmission.
Bob you have great taste. That car number 1. Thank you
Another Day in Paradi$e...

Phantom. Worth every penny spent on maintenance. What a Beautiful Car !
I am British and fuck what any body thinks a red Rolls Royce would look epic go for it bob
If you remember the third installment of the Cannonball Run (Cannonball Fever or Speed Zone depending where you live) the two millionaire brothers in the film drive red with black interior Bentley convertibles (the RR Corniche equivelant) and they looked fantastic.
Use epoxy paint with sand grains for the ramp. Best you can use.
Fun to do the work yourself.

Can you do a tutorial on how to build a delorean?
Definitely go with all red and black grill like in your pic
Well in fairness you can't go wrong with a Toyota 🎉🎉 that's what I drive
That Red with black pic looks awesome Bob
Love your channel, am a 68 year old Mercedes guy.... Red is great, but it looks soooo classy like it is.... Dan I always wanted a RR, but no longer live in SO CAL, now in NW Arkansas. Try to get proper service on a RR in Arkansas...
I would love to see what a candy apple Red Rolls Royce would look like !! It would be AWESOME!!!!!
Holy cow. $1,100? I guessed between $400-$500. I was way off. Dang. Did your butt hurt when you left? 😂😂

Go for the red! Black accents to match the wheels!
I love the idea of a red rolls & yes, I am British Bob.
Great content love your channel's
Wrap it a satin red and do the trim in black!! It would look great!!!
That V12 looks miniscule in there.
Can I have your Rolls Bob?
just buy one and fix it up. You will have the nicest one around. Just do it.
a 205 is great additive it does work
Red would look good 👍
Saw one wrapped in chrome in NYC
That was me asking about the welds. Not bad at all!
I do the same with all of my vehicles if it's a minor leak I don't worry about it
RED would sure make a statement Bob! 😊
More Cornish content please!
Purple wheels to go with the red eh!!😅😂
If you're driving a Camry, you're probably not a car guy. A car guy will go to great lengths to enjoy the experience of a vehicle. Sometimes that means adding a quart of oil every month or so to keep things going. Other times, it means phoning a friend to come help you swap an axle on on the side of the road in the middle of the night. That's what makes it fun and creates memories. What's your most memorable experience driving your Camry? Life is too short to drive boring cars.
That is a nice car. I love the silver color.
I just had to replace my low-pressure AC line on a 2021 Honda Civic Type-R. It was a $1100 repair at the dealer with a discount. 😅
I'm not offended at your British accent - please say "gawd blimey Mary Poppins" in a future video 😉
They need to have that camera thing on all cars today! I bought my new car thinking it would be all high tech especially being Japanese, but nope no heated seats, no fancy buttons.... the passenger seat doesn't move electronically only manually & it only has a backup camera for $30,000 I expected more lol....I worked hard for that 30g's!
All gas cars use up some oil just from driving, even if it's not leaking.
The factory mag wheels looks the best on that car .😀😀😯😉😈😈😈😈😉
