    This video is probably the clearest demonstration of how different levels of shank strength affect a dancer. The three levels show us the three scenarios perfectly. I'm not a dancer, just a casual viewer so when I first came across The Pointe Shop's channel I had such a hard time figuring out what Josephine was saying (it was during COVID so she couldn't demonstrate much lol). This is much easier to understand.

    Idk why this matters, but I’m 13 years old and I’ve been dancing since I was 6 and I’m finally getting to go on pointe this January!!!!!!! I quite literally been waiting my whole life for this! At my studio, they really like to prepare us for pointe so that we can be the best we can be when we finally go on pointe, and I’ve been told I’m a beautiful dancer by other classmates, teachers, and older dancers, so I am SO EXCITED!! anyways that it’s lol

    Was looking at my very first pointe shoes the other day. I've had them for almost 50 years. I haven't been en pointe since I was about 30 (yes I'm old). It's wonderful and amazing how much shoes have evolved.

      Yes I'm very curious about those, as well! I do have to admit, I hope they will find a way to make them a bit prettier. I'm very interested in the technique in how they are made but I hope, because its synthetic material, they will be able to pancake them in any color. I'd also love to try them out if they're worth their money but one their own promo videos.. They don't fit at all and it looks weird.
      Still, I'm interested to see where this goes.
      Edit: the brand name is ACT and they are from Germany.

      @@MelanaC And another addition; In should have made a screenshot... Okay but those ACT pointe shoes were on my Facebook Timeline advertising (I am from the Netherlands and it was a Dutch ad) and I made a comment about how curious I am about this concept, but I also mentioned my doubts because something does look weird and fishy to me... Maybe it's because it's new. But I commented "Very interesting, but for now I will stick to my Freeds" - to another ballerina who had her doubts.
      And now the whole article is gone. They blocked me from their Facebook Pages. All of them. That is... Weird?

    I took my daughter to their Woodbridge Warehouse this past summer. After Russian Pointe was bought out, and her radiances were discontinued, she had no options available to her that truly worked for her tiny feet. She is almost 17 but wears a size 2.5 in kids! She also has banana feet, and NO ONE near us could fit her with shoes in her size or ones that worked with her feet. When R-Class began distributing through the lovely ladies in Woodbridge, they graciously offered for us to come into the actual warehouse to get fitted. They are were WONDERFUL women to work with, and my daughter had her favorite, and only shoes that have ever worked for her, back in her feet! Thank you for highlighting this brand. Everyone who loved Russian Pointe shoes before they became the new “ rp” should check them out!

    • @R-ClassUSA
      @R-ClassUSA 2 месяца назад +2

      Both softer shanks, lower vamps, and higher crown heights can help with tighter ankles or lower arches.

  • @mousieyee
    @mousieyee Месяц назад +1

    I've been wearing R-class for more than ten years now. It doesn't require breaking in. I'm tall (hence heavier than most girls) and have flexible feet, so only the hard shank works for me. Not even the hard flexible. I've tried medium once and it died within two hours. The only downside is the nail on my more flexible foot that holds the layers together usually breaks into half. I had to take off the shoe, fish out the two sides of the broken nail, glue the layers back together and wear another pair while the glue dries for a day. A teacher suggested I take off the nail on the offensive side before wearing, but seriously I can't do that with my hands strength. Other than that, I really love R-class!

    • @mousieyee
      @mousieyee Месяц назад

      On the other hand, i really hate grishkos. They are either too hard or too soft. Even the extra hard is breaking like a piece of cardboard, it never conforms to the shape of the foot.

    • @R-ClassUSA
      @R-ClassUSA 17 дней назад

      Have you tried super hard? In the newest RC Collection - when the number ends in a 6 it’s that hard shank with the 3/4 component mixed with a 3/4 sole. What this does is double reinforce - making is super hard!

  • @mermaidopulence8539
    @mermaidopulence8539 2 месяца назад +2

    When June was doing hops en pointe I was just in awe of her feet. I don't know if the shoes that she had on in the video of her dancing were dead (or close to dying) or is her feet just that bendy and strong.

    • @R-ClassUSA
      @R-ClassUSA 2 месяца назад

      We actually have a super hard option - hard shank with a 3/4 sole. This double reinforces the shoe which makes it even harder than our hard shown in this video.

      We recommend finding a box that mimics your foot the most and has very long wings for lateral support. Often hyper-mobile feet love our R-Class RC50 Incande which has long wings and a V-Vamp.

    i have been on pointe for 2 years now and i have had a really hard time finding shoes that fit. my old ones, bloch euro stretch, break really low, hurt my bunions, and die within about three hours of dancing on them. i recently went to a new shop and got nikolay starpointes but they are holding me back and i cant seem to find a shoe that fits. at the bloch store near me they won’t give me anything else besides the eurostretch and and the other store i went to it’s an hour away so its hard to find time to go out and get fitted again. my teacher suggested trying gaynors because they would put me more on my box but what do you think i should do? i am running out of options and im tired of dancing on shoes that don’t work for me.

    who would ever do well with the anytrhing but the medium?

    • @shieldmaidenforchrist1310
      @shieldmaidenforchrist1310 2 месяца назад +2

      Different feet and different levels of dancers, also different applications. For instance, some dancers will purchase a pair of softer shanks specifically for their performance, as she mentioned, because they break in very quickly (like, just warm up in them and they are perfect) and you have completely clean shoes to go on stage. Other dancers might choose the hard shank but do more manual break it at the arch because their foot stresses the shank lower, towards the demi, and they need that part of the shank to be extra strong to not die quickly. Also, some dancers have very, very flexible feet which are naturally not as strong when they are beginners en pointe, so they need extra support from the shoe to prevent them from going too far over while they build up the strength to stabilize their flexibility. Other beginning pointe dancers don't have much flexibility and need a softer shank to start so that they can make it on top of the box without so much resistance that they can't push over that hard yet.

    Not a dancer, but silly question.. I see dancers tearing their shoes apart. Has anyone tried working with the ballet/pointe shoemakers to design a modified shoe that essentially mimics what the dancers do anyway? Seems like a waste of time and materials when a design change could solve a problem.

    • @shieldmaidenforchrist1310
      @shieldmaidenforchrist1310 2 месяца назад +1

      I wore them for 10 months. 1 pair lasted 5 months, then went through 3 more pairs in the next 5 months. The one pair was a fluke I guess. The shoe seems to stretch out over the joints/demi area and break down. 3 pair in a row did the exact same thing. There was no sign of the shank being worn out, but the structure of the shoe failed, causing knuckling. There was an actual pucker in the outsole of the shoe directly behind the big toe joint while I was en pointe. I found I had developed enough strength to pull up out of it while on two feet, but no chance on one foot. Got rid of them when it was difficult to roll down from a passe releve because if you knuckle, you kinda get stuck, like you have to lift up and over to release your toes.
