The garden and property is looking fabulous. Also repairing the garage doors is great. A saying goes "Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without!" Repairing a working door is a great idea ! Use it up! Make it do! Love watching you!
There is such irony in the negativity of this current year and the outstanding upswing your home improvement projects have taken. You have mightily approached so very many tasks over a short Summer season and have given great worth to your property, your talents, your family and your pride. I am ever impressed with your approach to work and taking on fresh new tasks so consistently while managing a job, family and everything else life throws in. I adore the way that you believe in hardwork and yourself, Sophia! Bravo!
I can’t believe you fixed that door with paint sticks and wood putty. Only you Sophia could think that up! It looks awesome. You always inspire me lady! ❤️❤️❤️
Sophia you are such an inspiration! You have done a great job this year with your home improvements and you are always a great teacher. I have a wide range of favorite RUclipsrs but most of them are young women "cleaning" their homes and a few with large families but there aren't as many closer to my age group. I recently found Susan @ Little Poet, while she is in a different life stage and circumstances than you she is a great inspiration, offering encouragement to others in so many ways just as you do for us (and she loves thrift shopping as you do.) I encourage all to find her on RUclips.
Love how your mind works, Sophia. You can find a solution to every problem. So many of us think if it not perfection, it is not worth doing. That totally shuts down inertia. Love how you attack a project with thought and gusto. You work hard and love hard for your family.
You always inspire me. And, I like that you patched the door. I think that’s a great fix. The property is looking great. You’re a problem solver. So many of us are in a situation where we need to make do with what we have and you show how to make it nice. THUMBS UP! 👍🏻
I know your video began in the garage but with the chair ,flowers, and wood walls it looked like a cozy cabin😉. You are surely a motivator and the house looks wonderful.
You look stupendous! And you are so patient...........you model tackling any project. You’re such an inspiration. You managed a mountain of home maintenance this year. Congratulations!!!
You are doing a great job fixing and restoring your garage doors. They look pretty good with the scraping and patching and will look great when they are all painted. You are truly an inspiration. Love all your different kinds of videos.
Sophia, you have once again done an outstanding job. You should be VERY proud of yourself. It will look.awesome after you paint. The transformation of the house and yard is so,so neat. Cheers.
Thanks Sophia! Aargh! I was tearing my hair out watching you do that patch. You could have had Home Depot cut you two panels out of plywood and cut several pieces of trim to replace the rotting panels. We did that on our wooden garage doors and it was a snap to do. Would have saved you a lot of time and fiddling around! Having said that I think the property looks beautiful. You and Scott did so much and you've added thousands of dollars to your property value. Congrats!
Good for you! So smart to refurbish, rather than paying a lot for something new, only to add to the landfill! Your driveway and backyard look beautiful!
Ms.Sophia your a girl after my own heart..🤩 In my home I’m the fixer,I plead the fifth,my husband can’t to do anything it’s all me.Its always me that has to read the directions to put things together.Thats why I love your videos!
Super job! I wish mine were fixable! I have lived with "temporary" garage doors since we bought our home 20+ years ago! The structure was imminent to falling down & not allowed to be rebuilt, as it is right at the property line, so my husband "repaired" it piece by piece so the exterior & roofing is all new, except for the windows & doors. It was quite the undertaking as it was previously a carriage house, (1875), 2 story! Well you would think after all that work you would want to get it fully done wouldn't you?! I had saved up almost $500. to go towards new doors & ended up using it for Christmas money a few years ago! Now I am back to around that amount saved, but we will need way more than that, plus more pressing repairs needed. I still love my house though!
The garage door will look great. I can already see an improvement after you applied putty. The whole backyard and front yard look so beautiful. You guys have done a wonderful job. I love watching your videos. I made the pumpkin pie crumble bars and they were delicious.
Girlfriend, you did it! 💕🎉 Already looks amazing and with a nice coat of white paint, they will sparkle like everything else you put your hand to! 🌸 Your hard work paid off once again! Now, I feel like I need to go fix something! 🤣
Please consider doing a review on the Madison Reed color kit! I’ve always wanted to try it and would love your thoughts. Your property is really looking great!
Another great job! Like you said: "Sometimes you have to work with what you have". You & Scott have done a phenomenal job this Summer on your yard. Y'all should be very proud of your accomplishments. I can't wait to try the pumpkin recipe....need to go get some ingredients!! 🎃 TFS.😉 👍🍁🍂🍁 🎃 🍁 🍂 🌻
It's looking so good! You guys have gotten a lot done this year on your property! Wow - lookin great!! Also, thank you go sharing videos with us - you don't know how refreshing it is to see normalcy and decent people on RUclips/social media/etc.
Good job! I replaced the seal on one bay this weekend. Same type as yours, but I couldn’t get the nails out they were flush so I left them. Can’t wait to see how you do yours.
You amaze me! My husband of 53 years passed away 2 years ago and I have to learn to be more self sufficient. If you ever decide to teach online classes, I’m in!!
I think its going to look great! Yes, it would be fantastic to just simply replace them however, that's not always possible. Plus, what if you do this and it looks so good that you get several more years out of the doors. What a savings!?! Keep up the good work!
Great job Sophia, as always, I love watching you diy, and I love hearing your explanations and descriptions and sharing your thought processes..looking forward to seeing the next one! xxx
Great job. I got one of those warmers for a wedding gift in 1974.I never used it. I wish I had kept it . I had forgotten about it till you posted yours.
All that scrapping! Good job! My father was a big fan of the wire brush, he used it all the time. He's been gone along time, funny what memories we save.
It's looking good Sophia. Projects take time and we're still working on ours. I have painting to do in the next couple days because they're giving rain soon. Love how your driveway turned out. Take care and stay safe.
At least you are trying. I'm with you. We live in my aunt house but I can't afford a new furnace. So I bought a windowed unit that is air conditioner & heat. Have a little heater in the bathroom.
Hi, Sophia. My former house was built in 1956 and it had the same garage doors as yours. I admire how you're fixing yours up. I had to scrape off the old paint off of mine too but then like a dummy I just painted over that. You're so smart to add putty before painting! What type of putty did you use? I can't wait to see your finished doors. I was eventually able to buy new garage doors but they were made out of steel or aluminum and were so much lighter weight that I really missed my old wooden doors!
We took out hugh boxwood bushes. They were close to the house. We got rid of those, so they don't damage the foundation. Their were some in front of my windows growing up. My dad dug and pulled them out. We then had to replace part of the wall, the siding and my windows. It was pushing up on the foundation.
I am SO inspired!!! I was disappointed after pricing a new garage door for our shed. It is in pretty bad shape, but my main goal is for it to look better, and now I know that I can do that.
Sophia you are so talented, you did a great job...on your garage..Question for you..I noticed the other side of your garage Is there a wood fence on that side..just wondering..Maybe you could put a little garden on that side too. A herb garden..
That 's the side we need to fence. There is too much shade in that area that is where I keep all my wood for the fireplace and store my terra cotta pots.
By the way I am looking for similar type of repair to my garage door. I am not sure what kind of putty to be used? can you please tell what brand or type of putty did you use? Asking because I heard that putty wont be sanded!
Hi Sophia good job as always but was wondering I know you have been busy getting the outside done for winter but when is yours and Scott's bedroom getting the make over you started a while ago? X
We are not doing anything in the bedroom right now at least as long as the green carpet is there. I don t think there is a point of doing anything major there while I still have that carpet in the way. Sorry.
What is there to do. I mean we are not buying furniture, I need to paint and wallpaper but I am stuck with the green carpet. Maybe I just gave up ... do you want Scott's phone #? Lol!
@@mygreatchallenge ha ha I hear you I have a man that thinks once it's been done that's it for life and the same furniture for life I just about persuaded him to decorate our spare bedroom after being the same for 30 years 😲🙄xx
@@mygreatchallenge I have the same problem Sophia! Hubby won’t part with the carpet in the bedroom. I want flooring but I’m willing to compromise on getting carpet replaced. He is not budging yet. The carpet is 16 yrs old ewwww! Some day! 🥴
Vinyl. We removed the wood last year and had insulation blown in. Then added insulation panels and vinyl installed. It makes a huge difference. Cut the heat bill by half.
Sophia could you please let us know in the next video which kind of caulk you use for this outdoor job? I have some similar work ahead of me on our front door. It is very old and crumbly. You're very inspiring as usual and I love improving my DIY knowledge by watching you and your creative solutions!
I am sure that it will look great by the end - this is a small hole, I am sure it will work out at the end and why spending on something that is not a big pressure and can be fixed.
Haven't even listened to all of your video yet - BUT nothing you do is a waste of time and I will wager from having seen your past repair and restore projects, that your door will turn out quite nicely! Now back to the video.

You could use bonds. It s a 2 part mix. It s great for outdoor projects because truth be known it stinks.

It was not hard work. You just have to take your time.

Really great job! Greetings from cologne
I just did my door. Stripped 10 layers of paint . Now waiting for the rain to stop so I can stain it .
Wow u have put so much hard work in to your house and it is looking amazing - #lifegoals
