  • A great backcountry touring boot for the right type of foot shape. At 1327 grams per boot this is no race boot but with a comfortable 62 degrees of walk it's no 4 buckle ankle weight either. Christof can't say enough good things about this boot especially after he modified it by putting in an Intuition liner. Comfortable on the uphill and strong enough to drive Lightweight big skis like the Movement 106, DPS pagoda 106, and Dynastar m-tour 99. It's a great all around boot if weight isn't your main concern.

    Kristoph, the first step of curing a gear addiction is admitting you have a problem.

      @@erikseymour1 The other day I went into a store to check up on a backorder on some gear and came out with a rain jacket. No problem here, I can quit when I want!

    Your content is excellent. I’m a splitboarder and even find the detailed boot, binding and ski reviews very interesting and typically watch them in full along with the other gear reviews. Great channels! Some of the very best content on RUclips.

    Save the boots for next season when you’ll inevitably get new boots. Piecemeal a boa system and mod the movement boots lol
    Thanks for the review! Picked up an f1 because of your LT review and LOVE them.

    Do you happen to have an opinion or heard opinions on the dynafit hoji free? Heard it is stronger on the downhill as well. Thanks for any feedback you might have

    • @cnuila
      @cnuila 3 года назад +3

      Definitely stronger but it’s a legitimate “beef” boot, in a definite higher weight category. It also has a fit that’s not very friendly to high insteps I believe. If you’re stomping huge airs or want a resort/side country setup it might be a great choice. One boot I’m really excited to try is the new Dynafit Radical Pro. Essentially a lighter version of the Hoji.

      @@cnuila thank you, going to give them a try with that type of setup in mind. Big fan, appreciate the response!

    What happened to the Fischer carbons?

    • @cnuila
      @cnuila 2 года назад

      Replaced by the Scarpa F1 LT. My foot size sits smack dab in between Fischer’s 26.5 and 27.5 shell sizes making it really hard for me to get a good fit. Scarpa’s boots size a little different and their 27.0 always fits like a glove. The Fischer Traverse was/is a great boot and revolutionized what a touring boot at that weight was capable of, but I think it’s been met or surpassed now with the F1 LT, Sportiva Skorpius, TLT8 Carbonio, etc. If it’s a good fit I’d still recommend it along with the others mentioned.

    Seems the Movement Free Tour and the Technica ZGTP are about the same weight and have similar ROM. But the Technica is stiffer and could drive a wider variety of skis. Why not go with with the stiffer boot and have more options to ski?

    • @cnuila
      @cnuila 3 года назад +1

      Without footbeds the two boots are about 100 grams apart per boot. That’s measurements from a scale, not listed specs. Also, there’s a BIG difference in walkability between the claimed 55 degrees ROM in Technica’s 4 buckle boot and movements claimed 62 degrees in a cabrio shell. You just won’t get the freedom of movement in the Zero G as you have in the Free Tour. This is not a knock against the Zero G TP. It’s one of the best “beef” boots out there in terms of ski performance, weight, amd walkability in it’s category. The Movement Free Tour will definitely be faster and lighter, but I won’t say either is “better”. Just depends what your priorities are. Of course I will always offer the best solution: get both! 😂

      I had the TLT8 Carbonio for a season and thought it was a great boot. Kind of slots into a lower weight and power category though, more on par with the F1 LT, which is what my TLT8 got replaced with, only because Scarpas fit me much better. Again the TLT8 is a great boot though and if its enough boot for your needs it’s a great option.
