  • It's still too early to tell, with only 20 plus days on the Slatnar ST Touring binding, but I've got a feeling that alien archeologists will recognize this early 21st century as the Geological Slatnar layer. It'll sit just on top of the surgical mask layer. That's how sturdy these touring bindings feel. At 670g this binding connects you to your skis with confidence. You can even shed a couple grams with the detachable stomp pad and crampon attachment. This is a fabulous mid weight binding with all the bells, whistles, and airhorns necessary for a full day in mountains. Check out the bindings here skimo.co/slatn...

    6th year on Slatnar bindings, no complaints whatsoever. Very reliable, feature rich, no BS bindings with a very reasonable weight. And no bloody plastic.

    Love my slatnar carbon ski jumping bindings!! Great design and manufacturing! Glad to see they are bringing their tech to the alpine.

    Slatnar are de facto ski jumping bindings, more than 90% of world cup jumpers use them.
    I am from Slovenia but had no idea they started to make touring bindings too.

      Sort of unrelated but I’m American and considering moving to Slovenia for at least part of the year. I cycled across Slovenia last summer and had the best time, the landscapes were amazing but it was the kind people who really made it for me. You have a truly fantastic country, and it’s awesome seeing such cool products being made there as well, I can’t wait to visit for some ski touring soon!

    Are your weights the Slatnar without brakes and the ATK Raiders with brakes?

    • @cnuila
      @cnuila 7 месяцев назад

      I believe so. On the raiders the only reason I’ve used the brakes is just to interface with the Freeride spacer, so I didn’t really think about brakes with the Slatnar. They show them in their website but don’t list the separate weight.

    How are you liking the updates to the Helio 104. Ended up purchasing a Located 104 since it has a touch more progressive / non-linear rise to the rocker and more rocker in the tail. Had the old 105 and wasn't convinced the new 104 tip shape, kinked at the taper, would be a huge improvement. Plus wanted to get off the old super punishing Austrian Flat Tail.

    • @cnuila
      @cnuila 6 месяцев назад +1

      Did a review on the updated version if you look in the channel history. Short- take: totally better ski than the 105. I used to submarine the tip especially skinning in deep snow and that’s a non-issue anymore. The ski is more damp and playful. I sold the 104s I had in the review but bought another pair this year (new graphic is all) when I found them for a deal I couldn’t pass up. Danny picked up the locators and likes them a lot. I think they are more similar than different, but have their nuances I’m sure.

      @@cnuilawatched the video, and got the impression that you hadn't spent a huge amount of time on it. The fact that you bought another (noticed the top sheet) seemed to lend to the fact that you where happy with them. The core change definitely seems to have had a positive effect on the twitchy temperament of the old ski based on the reviews.

    Does it have DIN settings on the toe piece like the new ATKs?

    • @cnuila
      @cnuila 7 месяцев назад +2

      The toe-piece adjustment on the pre-EVO ATK Raiders changes the clamping force of the pins in LOCKED MODE only. It’s to compensate for worn out tech inserts, etc. it does not affect any release value in ski mode.
      It seems the newer EVO models have a little adjustment to the release value of the toe piece, but it’s isn’t anything reliable enough to be a DIN setting in my understanding.
      The Slatnar does not have any adjustment on the toe. It just clamps real good;)

      @@cnuila @MostlyThoughThisThrough if you're wanting a light binding with DIN settings, i'm pretty sure the Dynafit Speed Radical is under 400g and has a solid range of vertical and lateral adjustment.

      Salomon MTN bindings have the exact same riser configuration, but the Slatnar looks like it is much higher quality. Salomon risers have a tendency to develop play over time.
