Some of the best casting I've seen on a series. Hair and make-up lent to the passibility, but its enduring appeal has come from casting the right actors. Casting Claire Foy was an absolute stroke of genius. Bravo to the casting team!
Hell, most of the casting were done well. There is just one or two who i'm ehh on out of like 70 people. And most of the initial cast proved us wrong and they did it greatly!
@Maatjuhhh I agree. The majority of the main cast were perfect for the roles. I'm still not sold on Dominic West as Charles. Every time he was on screen, he pulled me out of the story. Also, potentially controversial opinion here, I wasn't hugely sold on Olivia Coleman as Elizabeth.
@@kaye-86 Dominic West, I was also not sold on him. They also tried to make him hero like in S6. Imelda Staunton is great but nothing can top Helen Mirren. That being said, when Claire and Olivia came back as the Queen's figmentation, the screen comes alive. Even Viola Prettejohn (who played Elizabeth Windsor on Veteran's Day) was really done well.
Claire Foy, Venessa Kirby, Matt Smith, Tobias, Gilliaj Anderson, Helena Bonham Carter, Josh O Connor, dominic west, emma corrin, and ELIZABETH DEBICKI... the prime ministers. The guy with the moustache...the quewn's secretary. The show was a masterclass in all things television. AND in acting
You know what's funny? There were people literally saying "Well how is Matt Smith supposed tonplay Daemon Targaryen when he only played these goody two shoes characters like The Doctor?" And that's when I knew they haven't watched The Crown (Or the gentleman on stage, for that matter). It's not just the young and upcoming actors that you helped with your casting. Thank you for that! Because Matt and Elizabeth were truly interesting to watch.
Casting directors are really some of the most important people in a production, their ability to find the perfect actor for a role is just so underappreciated
the casting crew really had a keen eye for each character, enhanced with a good writer to develop character & a good researcher to prove it. this series had a winning team, luckily
I think my issue with the shows portrayal of Diana is in part how Peter Morgan speaks about her here - like she is this figure or entity, not a real person. Of all the characters in the show she was the one that never really felt real to me.
I actually think Emma Corrin was not a good cast for Diana. There's just something that falls flat to me. Her voice texture is far too different from Diana, her stature is far too different too and often makes her look like a child dressing like Diana in wigs and clothes that are too "big" for her. But Elizabeth Debicky. My God. No one could play Diana more flawlessly that her. Her portrayal was insanely good and accurate.
Emma Corin was the reason I continued watching Crown. I had already known the story of Diana and her struggles way too much. I had very little hope that Crown will show anything new, but when I watched Emma as Diana, I got hooked to the show again. She potrayed very nicely the emotions of young Diana, someone who transitions from a very little known girl to one of the most iconic woman on the planet. Credit also to the writers, director and casting crew for choosing her for this role. Emma was amazing as Diana.
as u said, a child dressing up. emma play the young diana who’s still navigating her self, confused, being silenced by everyone while she her self just like a child who needed validation. if elizabeth play the young diana, it would be not “young”. i think we all just used to see diana on her “woman” day, so that when we see her young self was not that appealing
I think it would have been "too soon" and could have spoiled the show. The Queen died only in this decade, and it would have been too dangerous to portray the Royal family from the most recent point of view - herein referring to the Queens last days, Prince Andrew scandal and the whole Meghan and Harry charade.
are they defaming her or someone else with this show? i'm curious what the objective is, sure does seem like there is one .such subtle creative defamation
Elizabeth Debicki is phenomenal as Diana, hauntingly similar in moments and Claire Foy is mesmerising.
Claire Foy’s casting is chef’s kiss❤
That term has become so tiresome.
@@tessdurberville711 rather a cliche

Claire was perfect.
I had a hard time warming up to Olivia.
I think that s the mark of great casting.
I also loved the actress that plays young princess Anna.

It was All so excellent .Great writing and acting! Claire Foy was amazing. Emma Corrin, and Debiclki. So spot on! Almost impossible and they did it!

Erin Doherty was phenomenal as Anne
Amazing Inside Looks, can't wait for more
😢🎉😂❤❤
I've just finished watching the crown it was so good . I LOVED everything great cast ❤️ the young queen is so beautiful.
Best series I’ve ever watched, impeccable witting and casting.
Olivia Queen was the most perfect character I ever saw
the casting crew really had a keen eye for each character, enhanced with a good writer to develop character & a good researcher to prove it. this series had a winning team, luckily
Emma Corrin captured Diana's instability, but Elizabeth Debickie took it over the top. The Sanpaku eyes were the cherry on top.
Well I think the cast was simply amazing 😍 perfect choices

No one is talking about how Imelda Staunton is perfect in her role of older queen!
This is like watching the crown but better in way
I love love the crown 👑❤🇿🇲
❤ every. Minutes thankyou
Claire Foy ❤
One of my favorite shows, I think I like it more than Game of Thrones

Could not disagree with you more. She is stunning and absolutely fantastic! A flawless, completely winning portrayal and performance! 👏
@@VANDYKEDANagree, she captures the young, naive, shy Diana beautifully. Great contrast to Elizabeth’s more confident take on her

Crown descended in quality as the seasons progressed. Season 1 and 2 being the best and there after declined in content and quality.
Claire Foy will always be Spike Dearheart to me.
Bring back crown series with recent occasions!
I wish the crown had one more season and covered the last days of her majesty the Queen.

What😂
People don't realize this. They slowly painted the royal family as heroes by the end, and Diana wasn't a part of that for sure.
I wouldn’t watch the series in principle.
Wow, you made a difference!

Well, about AlFayed a bit more of research would have been better… he comes across as this quirky old man🤢
Ever notice with things like this it’s always a black or brown they get in to present / narrate… lol
