This is misleading. Engoron didn’t deny Trump’s request per se. Engoron actually said that Trump can deliver part of the closing arguments IF AND ONLY IF Trump adhered to the rules he set and ONLY IF Trump’s lawyers and Trump himself will attest to those and sign a conforme. The judge gave Trump 3 deadlines to enter their agreement. They refused. That’s why Trump will not deliver closing arguments.
Edit: The rules the judge set are the rules of court that govern closing arguments.

In fact, Judge Engoron gave Trump several, extended opportunities to do so, with the condition that he abided by normal court rules, as any other person would be expected to.
Of course, Trump refused to abide by normal court rules, as he wanted to grandstand, threaten, complain and turn the court into his own personal circus.
This is what Engoran forbade, not Trump's ability to contribute. Trump could have agreed but he had nothing to say apart from his usual whines and threats, which he was not allowed to indulge in.
Such a shame that news outlets collude with Trump to give the impression that he had been shut down unfairly. He chickened out is all.

Agreed, Trump was never forbidden to testify. he _was_ forbidden to abuse the court room as a campaign rally. And I think the Judge extended the dead line for him to agree several times.

We’ve seen crowds gather on DJT’s motorcade route and make humour of imagining him in a convertible. The opposition have created the conditions for a tragedy so they can install candidates from within in a seamless manner.
This is the most opportune time for the opposition to relinquish ALL responsibility and prepare a back story.
Can they find a record of DJT seeing a therapist for a couple of sessions during the most stressful moments of his presidency? Maybe he placed a bet on a football match once? Maybe there was a couple of weeks where he drank excessively and there is a record of the doctor prescribing him a recommendation of going teetotal for a month?
The aim for the opposition is to find something tangible which everyone can point to and say: ‘Oh yeah. That tipped him over the edge!’
But we know DJT will still have the audacity to go for the American dream once more. The public will rejoice as they see him get to the top with his lovely, beautiful and young wife by by his side. DJT will have it all and America will be great again.
