Jodi, don’t take everything to heart. This is the comedy version of Countdown; emphasis on comedy (Americans tend to struggle with this. Don’t question comedy constructs: “an Englishman, Irishman and Scotsman went into a bar…”, “Um, why?”). Have you watched the main show? I love your reactions. You have a deeply expressive face and I’m often surprised by your strong reaction to things I consider relatively innocuous which, in turn, makes me examine my own reactions. You are obviously a very kind, honest and helpful person and that goes a long way in teaching, and elsewhere. Comet was an electrics store that went bust back in the noughties.
Rachael and Susies real jobs are on the proper show which in an hour has several more rounds and some scarily good contestants . They are there for the game part and to join in with the comedy which is really what the show is all about .
Also they do the REAL Countdown 5 days a week (Mon to Fri) most days of the year.... So 8 OO 10 CDC is a paid holiday for them... 😂😂😂

This is the comedy episode which is why it's 8 out of 10 cats does- ' Countdown ' is a show on its own which has Rachel and Suzy and a weekly guest! That show is serious, and started in 1982!!!!
On the normal Countdown they film all 5 of a weeks episodes in a single day, they change outfits between each "show" and all the contestants for the "week" (on the list) will all be there, it save on logistics, costs, studio time etc. This will be the same for this program its the way most daily quiz shows and multiple episode series are done. So Rachel will do one day a week filming Countdown and one day a week filming 8 out of 10 cats does Countdown. Its also good fun for the audience as they get to see multiple episode's being made, I've been in the audience of about 500-600 for 2 other different show's Catchphrase and Upstart crow, great atmosphere and great fun especially when on a quiz show when you get the answer but aren't allowed to shout it to the contestants, on the episode of Catchphrase me and my wife went to see it took the contestant's took an age to get the answer where many in the audience like me got it almost instantly, it was hilarious with the presenter breaking down which can be seen in the episode.

In the UK, a 'slaphead' is a bald-headed person, hence the connection with Darragh.
I am not from the UK but I have watched my fair share of British TV shows and comedy panels and I have never seen that word before. Whilst I believe you, it must not be very commonly used.
@@Dave-jm3zf It's the most common slur for baldness in the UK, by far. I can think of no other word that competes.
It's just that baldness isn't much of an insult, it's too easy and therefore considered trivial and not too entertaining so it's not worth using much.

The team are still getting into the stride of the new format at this point.
Things will keep changing until the format settles down. One example of this is that Jimmy stops walking onto the set at the start of the show and he starts the show from his seat. So far there have been 25 series (aka seasons) of the show.
Would like to see you play the sensible Countdown, a real brain tester. Great show.
The least you can do if you take a shine to Rachel is not drool and go gaga in front of your wife lol

The immediately obvious solution here is to look for the 200 and then the 16 and there are several ways to do that. I think most viewers would tend toward a more convoluted use of the numbers and not the more simple and elegant solution of adding a large and small number and then multiplying up. There’s a methodology here that you can train yourself on. Practice makes perfect [sorta]. I bought a Sharp calculator a while back that tests your reaction times to random arithmetic questions. It’s a great mental workout, but somewhat exhausting going up against a machine. 😎🤘

Jodie: It's not sucking at the game when you only have 30 seconds and are trying to put out content to boost your subscriptions and thinking about comments. Bit of pressure from all angles. Just call it multi tasking.
Joe doesn't take over Rachel's job that many times m the end. And they are the best of friends. She said that they went on holiday together once.
Jodi needs to relax more - like Nick. When you put pressure on yourself your brain shuts down to some extent as a protective response to keep us safe when our nervous system is overloaded. Forget the fact that you're in education and that thousands of people are watching and judging you lol.

Poor Jodi. I thought she was going to get it when she said 2x8 is 16, because she had just got done trying to add a couple of numbers together, I thought she would jump to 100+8 x2. Never mind Jodi, Countdown makes fools of us all :)

I had a life size blow up doll once. One night in the middle of Summer it was very warm in my Bedroom so I opened the window. On the Bed I leaned over and was giving it a love bite on the right cheek of it's bum, It suddenly farted, shot out the window and was never seen again.

It's not really her job, actual Countdown is her job - This programme is just a bit of mucking about on an evening for everyone.
There are a LOT of seasons and Rachel is such a big part of the show that John had to come in to break up the normalcy. So she does get pushed to the side but it's for views. And attracts a different kind of bubblegum humor.

Nick / Jodi - A suggestion. You keep missing the funny skits when the countdown is running. Seeing as you tend to pause the video anyway, why not first watch the skits, and then pause the video when the clock stops?
