The thing is Lexus/Toyota made their money on this vehicle many times over (same thing with the Sequoia too) so why they charge so much money is beyond me especially when other large SUVS offer a more car like ride/handling experience and have new features to boot.

    The ONLY thing this vehicle needed was apple carplay. The fact that it lacks the “tech” that other competitors may have is THE POINT of this SUV. It’s meant to be reliable and versatile, and some luxuriousness with high quality materials. Thats IT! Lexus purposely delayed updating the LX for as long as they could. Anyone who owns one of these understands that the MPG blows, but thats called the “reliability tax”. This truly is an important vehicle and most of you will never know it. I will truly miss this SUV. I don’t care for anything with a twin turbo V6 with a 10 speed. Been there done that. No thanks!
    I also miss your GX. I almost bought it. Was an issue on my end unaccounted for. Topher is as nice of a person as he is on his videos. Thats why this is one of my favorite channels for sure.

    • @garrettw99
      @garrettw99 3 года назад

      @Jonathan Losito that’s true, if you need to go off road this is a great option. But my point is that you give up too many things for the sake of reliability and off road capability. Most people will be mall-crawling anyways, and the Tahoe won’t likely be a disposable money pit like, for example, Mercedes GLS will probably be.
      The Tahoe will likely be somewhat reliable if history tells us anything. I’d rather have a nice-driving and modern interior than a car that feels 10 years old and doesn’t have CarPlay (doesn’t look like an aftermarket head unit can be added). I won’t keep my car for 300k miles anyways. And the Tahoe starts at a much cheaper MSRP before loads of incentives. You’d need to have $10k+ in repairs on the Tahoe to match total ownership cost of the Lexus. And then there’s the fact that the Lexus gets worse MPG than the Tahoe. I’m saying this as a person that has owned 4 Toyotas and 0 GM products.

    The steering wheel is waaaaaaaay too heavy even on comfort mode, this is not a normal on a more than $100k car.

    Poor interior color choice with the so called sporty red and other. The sporty features in this vehicle are laughable and somewhat insulting the the buyer. What is Lexus trying to prove here? This is a dinosaur that still gives me peace of mind when the end of world comes.
    I own a 2008 GX4570. It has 155,000 miles, it is slow with a lot of body role, but I will not exchange it to anything in poor road conditions Midwest in winter. The comfort and confidence it gives me in the winter can't be described in words. Dinosaur LX570 is just a more bad ass tank on road than GX470 or 460.

    A tank built to last but total impractical for 99.5% of the population, esp the gas mileage.

    Chris, If I had to spend $100,000 on Toyota SUVs, I think I would get a 4Runner and a Sequoia for the same sum.

      IKR. Toyota over lexus. Toyota has become the aesthetic brand of reliability. Love it. Waiting for the redesign.

    I don’t get it. Ive never understood this and the land cruiser. If you are comfortable with this gas mileage why not just buy the RAM TRX? It’s incredibly faster and funner to drive, even more capable off road, can haul, tow and just in general do more, has probably better tech (much better interface) just as good of a sound system with the high package and I would argue is almost as good in terms of luxury and materials inside. The Toyota build quality is true but overblown compared to other manufacturers (I’ve had lots of time In tundras). And lastly, you look bad ass in the TRX as opposed to looking like and NBA Wag in the Lexus.
    Topher - I am genuinely teachable- you’ve driven the TRX- help me understand.
