From 2007 to about 2014 I enjoyed it for what it was. Classic cartoons commercial free. Now it’s just Cartoon Network 2.

Nostalgia, a catchy beat, a techno style, a 90's (and early 2000s) announcer, so tell me...
WHY ON EARTH WOULD THIS NEED TO BE CHANGED??? This THRIVED on NOSTALGIA, Boomerang serves no other purpose, and that is fine with EVERYONE. Just dump old shows on this, and you wouldn't have to change a damn thing. This is a channel that was like inventing the lightbulb with CN, GENIUS.
I won't bore you with any more text, as you feel the same as me.
According to them it was something about how they wanted it to be a “second flagship”… they already HAD a main channel for stuff like that. The whole purpose of boomerang was to put the shows that made Cartoon Network what they are in a time capsule of sorts. I wouldn’t have minded it as much if they just changed the logos and stuff, but basically scrapping the entire foundation that their secondary flagship is based off of is never a good idea. It’s like if Apple transformed the iPad into another phone. It simply wouldn’t work
@@rockl79 They did it because of declining revenues. By the time they rebranded, they had used the idents for so long, people wanted something new. Channel viewership was declining. So they rebranded to “modernize” (if you’re gonna modernize, do it right) it to attract new younger audiences (these were cartoons after all). The “second” flagship thing was just a byproduct.
The smart thing for a brand refresh would've been to go for the next nostalgia bracket. Boomerang's look was clearly a mix of 50s doo-wop aesthetic and 60s-70s bubblegum aesthetic, so 20 years or so having passed why not go with a style more in-line with the 70s to 90s? They could've put forth something in-line with Disco/Lounge aesthetic or the Memphis/Grunge/Industrial styles of the 80s and 90s (like 90s Cartoon Network itself trended towards at different points) since those would mesh just well enough with the old toys-and-deco branding to feel more like an evolution than an abandonment, but instead they chose to just make it CN2, resulting in a death of identity.
Goodbye Boomerang. Modernization broke the Boomerang. Rebranding Sucks!

My vision for the return of the OG theme:
The current logo fades into view as all the wind-up toy characters walk their way through the logo breaking it. After the stampede is over the Boomerang logo spins in to say "This is Boomerang, from the Cartoon Network, it all came back to you".
The fact that I shared my birth year (2000) with this channel, let alone grew up with it, makes me all the more upset that I won't be hearing this tune anymore whenever I watch it again. It's good that who ever is in charge of CN wanted to give Boomerang a new coat of paint, but bright neon colors, kid announcers, generic bumpers with bland music, repetitive schedules & the flat-out removal of the channel's status quo is NOT the way to go, at all!

I was born in 2001, about 10 months after Boomerang's release. I watched it a lot with my sisters. Didn't know about the rebranding until 2016. So sad they threw it all away too soon :(

I dislike the new Boomerang because of how modern it is. It's just unappealing, and this is coming from a 12 year old. Every week or so I would go over to my Grandmothers and turn on the TV to see the channel I love so dearly. It seems like they just dumped Teen Titans GO, and other new shows onto Boomerang.
Yes, they still show Tom and Jerry and the Flintstones but due to the schedule, some of the originals show very late at night or quite early in the morning. It's not too late to go back.

Im 12 and i still remember coming home from school and the snorks would be on (if you remember the show, ILYSM) i would just be in front of the tv for an hour just to watch that. Now whenever i listen to any on the old tv show themes like wacky races, the snorks, johnny quest, huckleberry hound, tom cat, etc, i start to get teary-eyed cuz of the thought of cartoon network just basically throwing away my childhood.
The new boomerang is SHIT compared to the classic. I feel bad cuz most kids today have to deal with teen titans go, the amazing world of gumball and other crappy shows like that and won't be able to enjoy the magic that we did. I was born in 05, but i feel like im 30 cuz i remember ALL the old shows that most adults still remember.
Im not saying that all the new shows are bad, Gravity Falls, SVTFOE, and Miraculous Ladybug are good shows, but thats basically it. You don't appreciate what u have till its gone. I learned that many times the hard way. I know that this rant is too long and unnecessary considering that no one is gonna see this, but its how i feel, now if you'll excuse me, imma go get nostalgic and rewatch the Jetsons, Flintstones, scooby doo, tom cat, and every other classic boomerang show that i can find😉
Gravity Gal i’m 14 now but a couple of years ago i had recently moved to my new house & the first thing we did was get cable & i remember turning on the tv & watching boomerang every single night for 5 years
The new Boomerang seems to be completely missing the point of the original, which was for old cartoons. Now there are a bunch of new cartoons based on old properties like The Wizard of Oz and Bunnicula but it’s missing so many old shows.
Boomerang was just fine without the rebranding and filling it up with current shows that are not even a decade old! Even though I'm an adult, I would like to see more Tom and Jerry, Flintstones, Jetsons, the original Cartoon Cartoons especially Ed Edd n Eddy, Teen Titans, Justice League. Isn't the whole point of Boomerang to run the old shows on a separate channel?

It's never been the same without the old Boomerang...
Boomerang was my jam back in the day, It was the channel where i discovered so many cartoon classics, sure we had Tom and Jerry, Scooby Doo, and Looney Tunes. But the other stuff man, Huckleberry Hound, Wally Gator, Yogi Bear, Magilla Gorilla, Top Cat, DASTARDLY AND MUTTLEY! Even the obscure stuff like The Hare Bare Bunch, Wonder Wheels, The Robonic Stooges, and yes, I even was one of those poor unfortunate souls who watched The Snorks at 4am. If it weren't for this channel, I would never had to discovered these classic cartoons.
And With this Theme Song, stuck permanently in brain throughout many sleepless nights when i was in Middle School...(yes...middle school), with the Toys of all the classic cartoon characters, with the announcer chiming in at the beginning and end of every cartoon.

I thought it was creepy also back then i remember the old pac cartoon the last time they shown it! The music was creepy and i like it at the same time I was scared and liked it.

This is one of the best jams in all TV channels. Boomerang was a magical place with 60s, 70s and 80s shows that our parents watched when they were little, and they showed this channel to us to get to know all the 60s, 70s and 80s cartoons. Also, the big blue boomerang looking B was what made the channel great from 2000 to early 2015. Nowadays, the Boomerang logo looks like a box. Why did they change that? The kids born since 2016 will never know where did the name Boomerang come from!

This track is so nostalgic! It brings tears to my eyes and such happy memories of my childhood. Old Boomerang was the best man. Scooby-Doo, Stoked, Totally Spies, Winx Club, The Flintstones, The Smurfs, The Powerpuff Girls, Yogi Bear...So many great shows. Loved the bumpers they used to put together with the Windup toys, and the announcer that used to accompany that.

As nostalgic as we all are, we need to face the facts. Ever since the channel launched, it wad neglected for well over a decade. Rarely any new bumpers were ever made (only one I can think of is the Pokémon one), and the sane segments seemed to be on repeat in between shows, even if they wetw pretty good, like the QuickDraw McGraw in NYC short. It felt samey after only a few years. Still, the old Boomerang does hold a special place in my heart. That was (and still is) how my parents and I get our classic cartoon fix and I hope that never changes.
I find it stupid how Boomerang is airing modern shows considering it was called Boomerang for a reason, it was called that because it had a bunch of the older Hanna Barbera cartoons + some old Cartoon Network shows, but since kids channels can't have verity nowadays Boomerang has been stripped of a lot of shows and what its main purpose was. It wasn't called Boomering because it was some cool name, it was called that because "It's all coming back to you."
