VNSH Holster - Is it good for concealed carry?

- Adds for the VNSH holster are all over the Internet, but does it actually live up to the hype? I'll give you my thoughts, along with a tip you won't see on the VNSH website.

Have a speedy recovery from your shoulder surgery.
Thanks.
Great video Rider. Always wondered about those. Learned a lot
As always, thanks for watching.
Thank you for the review.
Bought one for the wife's birthday (with flowers) and she tried it but we discovered no one wants to wear this large belly band under your shirt. The refund policy was good, thanks.
Nice review...very informative and educational.
Thanks for this review. I have been annoyed many times by the ads for the VNSH holster and always just click away from it. I have not changed my opinion after this video, but at least I now understand the way the product works. Given my rather excessive waistline I doubt it would fit me comfortably ( yes, I am a Phat Old Man ). But I do now know that it will work with most of my carry pistols and revolvers should I change my mind and get one.
Thanks again!
Thank you for the review
no inter net. I am with you. the whole world is not on line.
This video was very helpful. NICE GUNS TOO!!! And thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching.
Nice collection of handguns. I have 3in barrel 1911, Colt New Agent, with a trench sight, so no snagging of the front sight.very good review. Detailed, understandable, informative narrative. Snap adjustment is similar to Uncle Mikes cloth holster. Hope your shoulder surgery goes well and is successful. The VNSH holster is a bit pricey compared to to holsters with a similar design. Thanks for taking the time to do a fine review.
Thank you for watching.
Good review!
Thank you. I get tired of the hype that a lot of companies use!
The more a product is hyped on social media, the more I question the product. Thanks for watching.
I 4o'clock carry and VNSH is my go-to!
👍 great review.
I have been wearing my holster for about 3-4 months and it is one of my favorite ways to carry being a disabled male, I usually carry Ruger LCR 38 special at 10 o'clock, it works good for me.
thank you!! this was a great video for me personally. i am build similar to you, and i will PASS on buying tis holster.
Thank for watching and commenting.
Good review 👍
Good vid, thanks.... wearing one right now trying to figure out the best way to use/wear as an EDC. Just had a break in (and stabbing) in the community the other day that could have easily been our house, so time to amp up security measures.
The simple fact that you practice in such a fashion gives you an advantage. Give yourself a pat on the back. I hope your surgery went well and you have a full recovery. Thanks for posting this review
Recovery progressing as expected. Thanks for watching.
I use bellybands regularly for my EDC. I carry 8/9 o'clock as lefty. The application for me goes over the pants under a roomy shirt. I paid 30$ from Amazon on average. The VNSH holster is overpriced compared to what the market offers. I do not see any features that are unique to that holster that justify the higher cost .
Thanks for sharing this very well made and detailed presentation.
Thank you for introducing a gun accessory sir, that I will never buy...LOL About your shoulder surgery, hoping for you a quick recovery. I've know several people who've had that done, and all have had great outcomes...Prayers sir....
@dannydoughboy120, once again, thanks for watching and commenting. I'll be doing periodic updates during my recovery.
Thank you for the review sir. I think I'm going to pass on the holster though. But I went searching for it because of social media as usual I went looking for reviews first. You did get a like, a comment and subscribe.
Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing.
Reminds me of a belly band holster for the waist. Have yet to find an IWB holster that works with decent fitting pants. Agree with you about a lot of products advertised on the internet as always being on sale (2:00); BÆRSkin come to mind. Good luck with your shoulder surgery.
Mr. Range, the reason why things always seem to be "on sale" is because, regrettably, a majority of people are not very intelligent and are easily taken in by such tactics, much the same reason why we arm ourselves to begin with! Great video! I hope your surgery went well and that your convalescence has been successful and uneventful.
All true. I believe W. C. Fields said something like "You can fool some of the people some of the time - and that's enough to make a decent living". Thanks for watching.
It is a comfortable holster however I found a couple of issues. One, the retention strap needs to be a thumb break on the inside of the firearm for a more natural draw, the other is the need for a retention strap to keep the magazines in place.
Thanks for watching and adding your thoughts.
AGREED !!!
Seems like a viable option. Thank you for your thorough review. I do think, even at $90 ish price point, is still too expensive for a holster of that material and for the labor savings they are taking advantage of in China.
I'm guessing the price is required to pay for all the advertising. Thanks for watching.
The point about preferring the additional magazine on the support side was something I hadn't thought about before. Good point!
PS, please stay off the tennis courts. Good luck
This shoulder thing really messed up my pickleball game. Oh, wait. I've never played pickleball. Thanks for watching.😎
I've got a Damascus Cerakote HK vp9sk w/holosun on the way and am looking for options to carry. This is the FIRST belly band type holster review with a demonstration of an OPTIC mounted rig......THANK YOU good sir , I truly appreciate the research you provided.
The only thing im noticing is that alot of these type holsters are NOT tac light/laser friendly.
Lastly would you say that this particular belly band type holster protects/preserves the finish on your handguns ? I don't like to run kydex for this reason. l'll be going through hip surgery soon and will be on crutches even longer than I already have , so these belly band type holsters are calling to me. I dress tactical to conceal but like to dress relaxed in gym clothes more recent cuz of my injury and an EDC bag is cumbersome sometimes in a rush.
Thanx again.
Thanks for watching and commenting. As to finish wear, I'm only guessing that this type of holster would cause less wear, though to me, finish wear goes with the territory and just adds character to a working gun.
For use under gym clothes, have you checked out the Phlster Enigma holster system?
I couldn’t justify getting something like this that’s made in China when something like the Phlster enigma system exists and is made in the US (and actually works well). Very informative video though!
Thanks for watching and commenting. The only reason i bought this was to see if it lived up to the hype. The Phlster Enigma is a top-quality design, but appendix carry only, which I don't.
Agree/ never buy from China either...
@dannydoughboy120, I agree, though I doubt there is a household in the Free World that doesn't own many products from China.
I would not compare this to the enigma. This is comfortable to wear. The enigma is basically a gun belt you wear under your pants. Not very comfortable at all compared to this... IMHO
I like LAG (like a glove) holsters, they are hand made in Reno Nevada and are kydex. Maybe you could do a review of one.
Umm umm hey I kind of forgot about the holster because im wondering if you are having A firearm garage sell lol Nice Review.
No sales. I'll let my kids sell what they don't want after I'm gone. Thanks for watching.
I don't know what the deal is, but this company has been spaming me to death, and I have never done business with them!
when you watch videos like this, they get you retargeted and just keep delivering ads to you the more you click on their stuff. Until you buy. Then you still get their ads. On the plus side, that means they are making money to pay for ads which means people are buying, hence, social proof that it must be at least an ok holster. Question is, what does their returns look like?
Problem - you still need to wear a belt. So why not just use a Kore gun belt???? Holds up your pants and the gun. Love mine.
I'm with you on that. (I'm wearing a KORE Essentials belt right now.) Thanks for watching.
smart - thanks - hope the shoulder heals f a s t.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
My primary concern with the VNSH holster is that it seems like a soft holster that would provide no trigger protection. I'm having trouble finding anything one way or the other about that.
What can you tell me?
There is a semi-rigid area over the trigger guard portion of the holster in the newer VNSH holsters, but apparently not the older ones.
@@RidersRange i have one and haven't had an issues with the trigger guard area. Getting used to the belly band, but it's not bad. Probably better if you're fit and trim (unlike myself).
Nice. So that You means You carry nów s&w mp compact fde ?
I just purchased the M&P Compact and haven't tested it yet. (Review in the works.) If it passes my evaluation, I may carry it while my right arm is out of action. Thanks for watching.
Cool idea but no way to use a pistol with a light and that's kind of a deal breaker for me. Great review!
Lights on concealed carry pistols for non-law enforcement are over rated. But thanks for watching.
Really? Where can I get a personal guarantee that I won't be in a self defense situation at night? There's a good reason why LE uses lights. And good luck in any criminal/civil trial where you shot and innocent bystander that might be behind your intended target because you fired a gun in the dark. If a $200 weapons light is overrated, I'll go with that option any day...@@RidersRange
honest question then because i am of the same mind set. what holster would you use?@@billk2379
Good video from a guy that still says trousers.
I guess that's my old-school ancestry sneaking out. Thanks for watching.
@@RidersRange i appreciate the old school, everyone in the new school is failing.
I'm looking to carry in more of a cross draw position and the pistol angle in the VNSH holster would be completely wrong for me. But the flexible belt isn't a bad idea. That said, I have a sewing machine and I know how to use it. I've already sewn a fanny pack holster from Codura and I still have a lot of Codura leftover from that project with which to make a waist band. But I would be more inclined to attach an existing holster that worked well to the waist band.
It's a good thing to be inventive and capable. Thanks for watching.
Wouldn't the holster be a little high up for drawing the weapon?
Depends on how you wear it. It can be worn in the same position as AIWB.
Ambidextrious! Lol I caught that too. Lol great review thank you.
Thanks for watching.
OK. This is a deal breaker for me then. I was interested but once I saw that the sig p320 did not fit, then I would not be able to use this.
I like the concept of it but the execution seems to need more work.
Personally I think the idea of the fabric is a good one. But what they should have done is have mounting points to add your own holsters to it.
I may be old school, but for me, nothing beats a quality leather holster. Having said that, I find that I am using Kydex holsters more than leather these days. But fabric holsters just don't give me the control I want (need). Thanks for watching and commenting.
The cant aids in concealment and is not that big of deal (to me) in appendix. I cut the retention strap off. The all-day comfort I get with this is worth not getting a full grip on it with my lcp max. Trade-offs for everything.
You are correct - trade-offs. If you are willing to sacrifice getting a full grip and a rapid draw in exchange for comfort, that is obviously a trade-off you are comfortable with. Thanks for watching.
We love your bravo bravo presentations and your service. This holster did NOT pass muster regarding the stitching. It will start to come undone and then because it’s China-made it WILL (and did on us) come apart quickly. Machine stitching must be done correctly for critical gear to stay tightly together AND also glued seams. That’s why we thumb down it.
Best is US MADE. Buy hand saddle stitched if you can cough up a few more bucks.
Also, that this holster doesn’t allow cant angle adjustment, not good.
The gun’s best safety device is a well made holster FOR THE PARTICULAR MAKE AND MODEL so the trigger well is COVERED.
Well said. Thanks for watching and for the meaningful comment.
At the VNSH website they claim their product is made in the US. Somebody’s giving out the wrong information.
Today, March 26, 2024, I spoke to a company rep who said only the materials are made in the US but material is shipped to China for assembly and then shipped back. If you are not opposed to foreign made products, then you have no problem.
I've had mine for more than a year with out any type of loss or damage to the whole of the holster.
How is it with a trouser belt.
I haven't tried it while wearing a belt, but I think it would be okay, depending on how tight one wears the belt.
Nice review. Could you confirm there is some sort of plastic insert with the 2.0 version for trigger guard protection? I purchased one recently that appears to have fixed the issue with the fold on the retaining strap, but I don't know if any changes were made for trigger guard? Mine does not have any hard plastic inside the holster like I thought they were planning to modify. My holster was delivered last week.
The area over the trigger is somewhat rigid and I wasn't able to access the trigger through the material. I didn't dissect the holster to see just what makes it rigid.
Ok thanks. I just wanted you to confirm there was not a plastic insert. It sounds like nothing changed on the 2.0 version from the original regarding trigger protection. @@RidersRange
I spoke with a company rep today who confirmed the level two retention strap issue was resolved and also that additional plastic was, in fact, now being manufactured into the holster.
Not sure I believe what the company rep told you. So, they fixed the retention strap on mine that was delivered 3 weeks ago but now they are adding the plastic trigger guard that was supposed to be added to mine.@@Bill_Maine
The problem with the holster is once you go to the website they try to sell you 15 other things. The holster works best as a driving holster. Not really good for walking around a lot.
Social media mass marketing at its worst. Thanks for watching.
I get OVERLADED with STUFF they sell.... FRUSTRATING !!!
Money back 60 days, quick send it back,,,,,nothing I’d buy….Good luck with your shoulder operation!
I have a left-hand holster coming from Muddy River Tactical. Until it gets here, this may be my only option. Thanks for watching.
@@RidersRange I wasn't going to mention MRT, but that's where I always buy my holsters from...Kevin does an amazing job, and in my opinion, the very best fitted Kydex holsters made.
@dannydoughboy120, I have several holsters from MRT and did a review on them a couple years ago. They are my go-to holster company.
Why not just put a little magnet where the barrel goes 💥
I guess I'm not clear how that would help.
Who signed yer hat?
Jack Roush. The hat supports the Roush Veterans Initiative Program.
i'll stick with my gun belt.
I'm with you on that.
Figure anyone buying a holster at that price point can scan a QR code. However, I probably don't want it if I need to watch a video to figure it out.
Those who have access to high-speed Internet take it for granted. But there are literally millions of folks in the United States, and many more in other countries, who don't have that kind of access. But thanks for watching.
It's a NO BRAINER setup
So you wear it with your waist band over it?
Correct. The VNSH goes under your outer garment - trousers, sweat pants, etc.
@@RidersRange prob most comfortable over a tucked in shirt, but under the pants/waist line -- while wearing a loose fitting shirt over it. If you just want a t-shirt to wear for the day, it should be a baggy one, imo.
All that material wrapped around me I'd sweat like a pig.
That's what I worry about. I sweat at the drop of a hat, and living in AZ doesn't help.
It does not not conceal well. The handle of your gun will stick out if you appendix carry a 4 inch firearm
Even from the manufacturer, appendix carry is "iffy" for the VNSH
a canik tp9 elite sc will not fit, just an fyi for those who have one
Thanks for watching and adding the info.
Leaves me out then ty
After a full day I draw my gun to find it soaked in sweat and my red dot fogged up.
Interesting. I haven't carried long enough in that holster to find out. Thanks for adding your info.
been using this holster and a few other IWB holsters for the past 3 months here in the peoples republic of NJ and this is my favorite to carry my sig 365xl specter ..only real gripe i have is i wish there were 2 retention straps for the mags but that isn't a deal breaker for me
Everything about methods of carry are personal and made up of compromises. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Vnsh vs 3 speed. Thoughts, comments anyone?
I haven't heard of 3-Speed, so I checked the website. Looks interesting. I like the custom fit, not just for the wearer, but also custom for the gun. Those are advantages over the VNSH.
OK, a lot of these guns are bigger guns that I don't expect to be CC realistically, so for me the first half of your vid is a waste of time. Will the VNSH CC hide a Glock 42? That's my CC gun, and realistically it's the biggest true compact pistol other than a derringer type or snub nose 38, but I'm not a fan of revolvers, never have been. Too many moving parts.
BTW I live in AZ where open carry in public places outdoors is legal. For these bigger guns I'd just buy a side arm Wild West type holster. I bought my wife a tiny Ruger that she can actually carry in her purse so she can get by without a CC holder. I'm not going to start carrying a purse tho LOL
My daughter went to school in Prescott. I found it interesting to see folks not only open carrying, but riding a horse to WalMart while packing a 1911 in a leather holster.
As to carrying larger guns, I know many folks who carry full-size pistols and conceal them very well (AIWB).
Thanks for watching and commenting.
They are mostly small guns. I carry a P226, so I find it strange that someone is complaining about an sig p365, Glock 43, M17, Glock 19 and other small guns put in the holster.
Why does anyone run optics on an EDC?
It's the current trend and a red dot optic does have some advantages, particularly for aging eyes. But it's certainly not necessary for a private citizen on a concealed carry pistol. Thanks for watching.
Myself I think having optics on a pistol is a waste of limited and precious $$$. A guy is five feet from you and lunging at you, you aren't going to need optics. We are talking personal self defense here. Save the optics for your AR and your AR-style shotgun, both of which I have.
I hope your shoulder surgery goes better than mine did.
I'm 12 weeks post-surgery and I feel about 75%. Range of motion and strength are improving each week with good physical therapy. Bummer that yours didn't go as well.
@RidersRange that's good to hear. They waited a long time, plus I had tendens cut and moved and bone shaved, plus the rotar cuff fixed. About 9 months later TOS set in. Basically carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms but it comes from the chest. 24 years.
Ouch! I wish you the best.
maybe the box was made I'm China?
Last time I checked, a "Made in China" label on a box means the contents were made in China.
Thanks RR. I was interested in hearing about the VNSH. Great job. Good info. God bless.
LETS GO BRANDON
I don't have a cc holster bc I don't cc EVER. In fact I don't even own a firearm. Never would. But if I did I'd grab something like the tiny bersa holster that perfectly houses one of my Thunder 380's if I were to ever have one.
It doesn't hold anything other than the tool. I know this bc I've seen it a lot. I don't have one nor would I bc I don't even have a firearm nor would I. It's just a small piece of leather but does loosen from the belt clip after a couple yrs and I'm sure that time would be even shorter for those who cc daily. I wouldn't know. I have nothing to cc.
You don't even own a firearm and never will BUT you know about holsters and watch holster videos?
Okayyyyy...! 👍
@@FletchEcks lmao....he/she/it watches holster videos.
Two words.. BETA MALE
Hahaha lol
I like the bersa .380 thunder.
Show how good they fit while you are wearing it 🤷🏼♂️
Hmmm....I thought I did.
If it does not fit, don't claim it fits....that glock had the trigger assembly exposed.....give good info or mone at all!!!
You might want to watch it again. At 4:15 in the video I tried the Glock 19 with an optic. When I first inserted the gun the rear of the trigger guard area behind the trigger was exposed, but certainly not the "trigger assembly". I even commented on that. Then I pushed the gun farther into the holster to where there was no exposure of the trigger guard area behind the trigger. But at no time was the trigger exposed when the Glock was seated in the holster. I also showed two other smaller Glock pistols and neither had the trigger exposed. When the Sig P320 M17 with an optic was inserted, the trigger itself was exposed, and I mentioned that. So, I believe I did provide "good info". But thanks for watching.
I feel like you’re just looking for something to complain about for a video.
I'm sorry you feel that way. I bought this with the hope it would work for me, but after trying it, I believe it is over-hyped on social media. I just call 'em like I see 'em.
@@RidersRange i thought it was an overall positive review, except you weren't happy about having to scan a QR code....
Junk
I've found that things that are heavily marketed on social media are often not up to the hype. Thanks for watching.
I could not use this holster with tall suppressor height front sight. Sight would snag!
I agree. Thanks for watching.
