As an educator in a primary school, I have ordered the Remarkable 2 and am so looking to receiving it, so that it may complement lessons and help with note taking and organisation within the classroom and in other aspects of life. Thank you so much for your incredibly professional and relevant review. It means a lot when fellow educators go out of their way to produce valuable content like yours. Your broad knowledge and honest perspective is very much appreciated.
I'm really pleased. Please do stop by and let me know how you get along with it. I am honestly loving my device. I hope in future they will become cheaper, as at the moment it's a difficult expense for many to justify. I'll be making some more videos bon how I use it to support me as a professional, hope they will be of use. Many thanks for your kind words!
@@KitBetts-Masters Thank you for replying. I look forward to your future videos and I will certainly let you know how I get on with it in the classroom and in general (as long as school remains open - my year group is the only one left in KS2 at the moment due to CV-19).
Onyx Boox Note Air has become a great competitor to the reMarkable 1 and 2. You should check it out. It has similar design and writing experience, but a much better ebook reader functionality with much better contrast and adjustable blacklight. And better battery life and lower price.
Thanks bud! Honestly I just couldn't bring myself to wait for the shipping date! It's really a great device! I think they should continue to make the RM1 and just let it get cheaper and cheaper!
I really like these workflow type videos. FYI, the remarkable and remarkable 2 both use the exact same software, have the same amount of memory, work at the same speed. The only difference is: 1) The design; 2) The processor (though it's not used to make it faster); 3) The battery life (that's what the processor now helps with); and the speed at which the pen draws on the paper (thought it's barely noticeable). So, IMO, you got a really great product for only $299!
I went for the Remarkable 1! (waiting for it to arrive)- I think it's the right choice, RM2 looks more like a device, and is quite overpriced since it doesn't even come with the pen! ?? As much as they wanna hype it, e-ink technology is quickly getting better and Color e-ink is around the corner, I bet remarkable will consider it into a version 3! Red, blue, and yellow markers would make a huge difference! I bought the 1 and I will only upgrade when they announce RM3! Thanks for your review on this one!
Using the Remarkable for the same reasons as yourself. I very good at keeping things digitally organized, but in terms of spacial organizing... can get to be a pain with all the space things can take up. Remarkable 2 however seems to be much more durable and better bang for the $. I'd recommend investing in that over Remarkable 1... especially for the glass screen opposed to the plastic one used on version 1.
I probably agree re: RM2. Partly my decision to by RM1 was impatience. And I think the price is fair at the moment. (More on the price of the things in later videos!) Thanks though, I didn't know the screen was glass in the new one.
I have the iPad Pro 13” and I still wait for the reMarkable2 batch4... My iPad is for consuming media, it is for color, images, internet, netflix, youtube and reading. But an eInk device is for reading scientific A4 reports, for writing and notetaking. Writing notes with a pen is way different from typing! The iPad pencil is nice, it is very good and hard to beat. The iPad has good battery life, and it has a very good screen. BUT it is an LCD, so if you find staring into a light source hard for your eyes, you want an eInk! If you need to read or write outdoors or in high illumination you NEED an eInk device! Everyone trying to use a laptop outdoors and tries a Kindle eInk knows the difference... eInk shall not be seen as a replacement, it is a complement to your iPad or laptop. I hope eInk devices keep trying to be ”paper” and not ”computer”.
Do you know if there is any way of doing the register on arbor or sims or similar on there...no need to surf the net, but that woukd be such a lovely bonus!
Something I didn't mention which will interest you is that they do have a screen sharing mode now, it's in beta, but you can broadcast to the remarkable app on desktop, which you could then of course stream to zoom or MSTeams or whatever. Probably won't replace a drawing tablet for that function though, but if you didn't already have one that might help someone make a decision.
But...it's the old one! And why did you pay so much for it. You're talking about 600 Pounds, right? How much is this in Euro? I only paid 400 Euro for the new one.
Hiya, I'm afraid not. You'd need a more powerful, fully featured e-Ink device. This is great for being a note taker, but not everything else. I'd recommend looking at the Boox note taking e-readers as these can install android apps for example powerpoint.
Hello, I'm actually reading one on it today. I will say that potentially the size makes it not perfect if that was your main use case. Also many of the alternatives offer a view where you can have the one document open and a "notes page" linked to it open to one side, that might be a useful thing. Check out the 13" devices if that was your thing.

Great review - you make very clear what it’s for and what it’s not for. Loving my rM2 for 12 days now!

Yeah. They are totally different devices! I'll be making a comparison video soon as I've been trying to use both for my professional life.

No, not on remarkable, but you could do that on a Boox E-Ink tablet. Have a look at some of my comparison videos!
It looks cool, I definitely need one!
I must admit, I am really very pleased with it. More content about it to come!

No! Lols, unpaid 300! It was 600 when it came out. How do you like the new one?
Thanks for this video -can you use this tool to update Powerpoints -and make worksheets?

Anyone on here have success returning remarkable? I havent and cant get the website to work
Hi! Do you read academic papers on it? Besides note-taking I want to use it to read and take notes on them. Thanks!
