Did you guys meet Mutah from Some Ordinary Gamers??
So no helmet required to go to the event and lap?
Is track insurance for your car a must?
You guys should learn from this guy about car and driving.
Are you guys doing any track days or events in the U.S. this year?
The rear window "projection" is brilliant!
Loved it. Very fresh.
Yeah really nice
Track days are not a race. Recruiters from Ferrari are not there watching you drive. Street cars are not race cars. Be safe and courteous and don't take risks with other people's cars, livelihoods and lives on the line. Good video, I thumbs up liked followed friended subscribed donated.
I’m going to race your atom in my prowler and Ferrari is going to sign me
@@TheStraightPipes My race engineer will be discussing my contract in my trailer to find out whether or not I can be on track with you at the same time. My lawyers need to determine the liabilities and risk to my sponsorship deals. Welcome to the big leagues kid.
See you guys in F1 next year
Has the price of your autograph gone up again?
@@Highlander1432 yes it has.
I absolutely love how this video was edited! Being able to watch the car going around the track, AND seeing everyone at the same time is so awesome. Makes the video much smoother, less choppy from all the different camera angles.
The view of you guys in the rear window is so unsettling 😂. But very cool! Unique take. Interesting video I learned a lot. That E brake tip I had no idea.
You'd learn just as much in games like GT Sport or iracing. But it's good to hear extra this bits from an instructor like the professional in this video!
I kept imagining watching all of the old TST One Takes in this style.
Step 1: drive to track
Step 2: drive hard until something gives out
Step 3: push home, come back next week
I like how the instructor emphasized safety in every question that was asked. Now, that’s a professional! 👍🏼 Great vídeo.
I was at the race at lime rock when he won! He and the other Veloster N lapped the entire TCR field. He threw one of the hats he's wearing from the podium and I caught it. Love wearing it when I'm driving my N
Man! That sound of the supercharger is awesome. It must be a hellcat from the sound of it.
Haha yup
Considering I'm getting my N soon and live in Toronto this video is perfect for my future track days 10/10
Paul get it. I got one last week and it’s amazing!!!
Cooler, chair, glass cleaner, notepad, pencil, IR temp gun, tarp or large container to put your stuff in (in case it rains), mechanic gloves, amongst some other things.
should I bring a jack and stands?
Debating if I should take my 20 year old family sedan on the track just to see if the old girl still got it 😂
Do the roar
If its been that long, im sure your family sedan still got it but go easy. 👍
What kind of car is it?
2000 Acura TL with a transmission that has no business being on the track XD But it does have supporting mods like a full exhaust upgrade with headers and an AEM V2 CAI and upgraded sway bars wheels and tires so it can hold its own ;o
@@Darksyne do it and upload it 👍
Took my SRT to a track day here at Portland raceway had so much fun, i recommend every car lover do this at one point just to get all that built up energy out
Excellent idea for a video! Most people are wanting to do track days, but have no idea what to expect (me). We don't want to screw up a day for people more experienced. Great idea for a video. Can't want to hit a track.
You guys have excellent video editing and cgi skills. I don’t see this level of editing from any other RUclipsrs. Great information too!
Love the information and how this was edited. Really well made.
You guys are really outdoing yourselves with the production quality. 👏👏
Love that video on the rear window
Mark seems like a top quality instructor, so professional yet warm. Hey Mark, if you're reading this, you're awesome!
Mark is a great sport putting up with both of your sarcastic personalities. I love the banter.
Yeah seriously haha
Ready to track ready my Honda fit 💪💪💪💪💪💪😂
Jokes aside, the fit is a great first track car. Hence why there's racing series built around them
The interior shot on the exterior back window is such a solid editing move.
You guys are amazing! Love watching each and every one of your videos👍🏽🔥
Just wanted to congratulate Hyundai, Brian herta motorsports, Mark Wilkens, and Michael Lewis for winning the TCR CHAMPIONSHIP in the first year of competition for the Veloster N! Also congratulations to everyone in your pit crew for claiming such an amazing season. Hyundai has truly made a spectacular car going against such cars as the Audi RS3, CIVIC TYPE R, AND ALFA. What an amazing victory nobody deserves it more then you and your team guys truly spectacular.
Love that the tractor is baling hay while everyone else is zipping around for fun. 🚜#thankafarmer
I learned a lot from this video
Thank you so much!
The edit was fantastic! The in car camera on the back window is genius! Great video as always.
Love the chase cam POV. Really helps me learn the racing line.
:-)
I just went to a track day event yesterday and I love your videos
I really appreciate the videos fellas. You guys are organically becoming all things motor sports. Thank you and Congratulations on a pretty badass job.
Love mark such a down to earth humble guy. I follow every race or sould i say the TCR series and always rooting for my fellow N driver. Thanks for the video guys your the best please keep the stoving to a minimum lol.
Minimum stovage 👍🏻👍🏻
Just bought my Veloster n yesterday... I love these videos great job
The interviewee seems to truly have his stuff together. Great explanations!
Halarious video. Stove it in boys. excellent driving mark
I've never been on a track, but I'm glad they answered my biggest concern which is what to do when a faster car comes up behind you. Staying straight and possibly signaling to the side you want them to pass you makes total sense, but it's good to know ahead of time.
Mark Wilkins is a great teacher from the way he explains how to track.
Love this track lesson
Cannot wait enough to have a chance for a track day soon
Absolutely phenomenal use of the 360 cam with fantastic angles and that sweet little rear window cam. Amazing production value as well, would LOVE to see a behind the scenes sometime. How long you spend with a review car, and how much production is actually involved. It feels super polished, but I love the run and gun style you bring.
Who's idea to project the inside video to the rear window of the car out.side...
THATS VERY SMART JACOB & YURI
Yuri “the visionary” Tereshyn
I thought this was amazing, don't see that too often in videos
I track my Veloster Turbo R-spec every chance I get. Fast as anyone through the twisties. Get blown away down the straights. BUT WHEN IT RAINS... oh boy do I love that FWD in the wet... (Also, I installed Moog camber bolts up front and now have -1.5 degrees of camber.)
And yes, after one year, I'm going to trade up to the N. Really want that extra 74hp...
Tracking my Veloster N on Road America in a couple of weeks for the first time! This video came out just in time. I hope to be able to make it out the Toronto Motorsports Park meet on the 29th and meet you all
Be safe!
Should also bring a folding chair and, if you have the room, a canopy for much-needed shade if not available at the track. Also, if car numbers are needed, some painter's tape, which can also be used to cover and protect your headlights. If you're a sweater, a balaclava is a good idea to protect your helmet liner.
I got a shout out from the Straight Pipes? Eeeeeeeeeee!
Track day bro
I've been watching youtubers go to tracks for ages, but have yet to see anyone bother to tell people what to do when they go the first time. Good job on that.
This is one of your better videos. Mark was fun too.
first track day tomorrow cant wait. thanks for the video!
My money is on Yuri as the designer of that rear window video oddness ...which I loved!
You know it
Love the rear view window video
Great camera work in this video. Actually really enjoyed the view of from the back with you all in the rear window. Worked really well, definitely better than a traditional picture-in-picture or split screen.
The straight pipes are trend setters. Expect to see this angle everywhere soon 😜
I track my veloster n one weekend a month and it lives up to the hype...Impresses everyone...all stock, with exception being hankook ventus rs-4s...greatest performance value ever
Always best a having an instructor...working with you to get you, also keeping an eye out keeping you safe...
This was amazing.
EDITOR: Wicked back window effect!!
❤️ thanjs
@@TheStraightPipesI hope you guys do a Track event at CTMP.
Super cool camerawork with the lapping and interior cam on the rear windshield! You guys have a gift for cinematography!
I love these track videos
I am enjoying the Patreon behind the scenes videos that explain why you use a monopod/stick camera mount at 16:59 and how you hid the multiple links at 11:58.
Great video. Hot rod guy moving to track. Hope to learn more from this pro.
Great job boys. Love the Video😀👍
seriously this video is top on your channel, really educative helpful,
if ever you wanna review a 2020 Supra my good friend has one in black, I can always ask we are close to Montreal
You forgot.. Checking brake system, suspensions systems( swaybars, stabilizers, struts), warm up laps for tires/fluid (don't bring seasonal tires, bring in slick/sport tires for track). Too many times people bring their stupid cars thinking they can just fly around corners on public days and end up being a moving hazard. Other than that REALLY great info.
Lol, of course, you guys would have the #1 Ruffles flavor of Canada.
What about insurance? I dont think racetracks sell some sort of insurance so I guess if you crash you'll be in trouble with your insurance company for racing your car? What's the protocol here?
What a great group, in such a great car lol I loved feeling like a part of it. I hope this kind of thing can resume after the pandemic.
You stove it in every time.
You guys need to come to cars and jets in LA! We just recently filmed the event there, would love for you guys to come one day
Maybe one day when we have jets
@@TheStraightPipes straight pipes jet reviews baby
Question: should I not run the AC in a street car when on the track? I hear it’s not good to have it running due to fluid leaking onto the track
He should've mentioned too that if you're struggling and the guy behind you is faster, let him by and follow his line. Of course, don't over drive the car's limits if the other car is a much more capable car.
Never follow a faster driver's line at their speed because it is a really good way to put your car into a wall. It's a far better idea to get a ride with that driver, or better yet a much better driver / pro, to be in the car as they operate it, to feel the forces, and to have a headset on and ask questions about technique / throttle / brakes / etc that enable them to do what they are doing. Make every attempt possible if improving your technique is a goal, to search out and get drives with pros - absolutely nothing will help you improve your technique faster; but remember, if they are in a fast car and a Pro such as Mark, the speed that they carry and the Gforces will at first blow your mind - you will need time to absorb what they have done - and do not think for minute that when you then go out you will be able to do it. That is why continuing to search out rides as you develop is critical because you can only absorb so much. I got a ride with Mark driving my GT3 about 10 years ago at Mosport when he was setting up and teaching a fellow friend who own a cupcar. I was stuck at comfortably doing 1:35s on the big track. After 3 laps with Mark, the first two being incomprehensible to my brain at his speed over #4 and his line and speed into and around #8, I went out and took 3 seconds off my previous best - but I had already done 20+ trackdays at Mosport alone.
These fine Canadians speaking and bonding as men.
Wish we had more of this commoroidery in the States
What to bring to track:
A properly maintained/serviced car with fresh oil
A tire pressure gauge, with 4 properly inflated tires
Properly torque wrenched wheels + torque wrench
A tire air compressor
A racing helmet
Water
Snacks, beef jerky, chips, nuts
One thing to know is that every car can be a fun track car, from a $500 Mitsubishi Gallant, a Nissan Maxima, or Ford Fusion, to a Hyundai Veloster N, Porsche 911 turbo, and Honda Civic Si.
Wish more people would watch this. Just had a track day at TMP and there was this dangerous dude trying to race everyone that was trying to pass him even though he was clearly slower on the slower parts of the track. Thankfully the Marshal gave him a warning and hopefully he learned his lesson. Basically be courteous and respectful to other cars, they aren't there to challenge your ego, just to safely have fun with their own cars.
💯
Great fun guys, I learned a lot and LOVED your video setup!
My first track day will be in a hyundai veloster N, at toronto motorsports park. the veloster N is my dream car, and i live only like 90 mins from the track, just south of buffalo, so expect to see me there in a few years!
Great video. TMP is a fun little track. Always have a great time there.
looking forward to my track day at Mid-Ohio, but as an engineer, did not like the torque wrench portion early in video. As a manufacturing engineer, we find "1-one" clickers often result in over-torque of the fastener.
Best practice is to back fastener off, then torque....I have no problem with "double click" if wrench does not move in rotation angle.
P-Chi
They should make a g70 n tcr.
12:15 the side you want them to pass you on? I would've thought it was the side you were keeping to, that's good to know. (also where's the rear indicators on the veloseter? )
In Nürburgring track day videos, they seem to always indicate to the side that they themselves are pulling over to let others pass. So, hmm...
Helpful video, awesome to see a Toronto track too. Hoping to get some track time this year or next!
looking forward for my first track day at cmp! thanks for the advice
Unfortunately here in San Diego we do not have any nice tracks to go race
what a great video guys!
9:27 it's called "The Potato Harvesting" in korea lol
Dude that camera view. I know how you did the overlay on the rear window, but how did you setup that rear camera???
Magic
Can't wait to get there for the track day. Love the video, it'll be my first track day ever and I'm coming in my G70 3.3 . He mentioned the brake fluid. For 1 track day would I need to swap mine as well?
No, just take it easy on the brakes and go in shorter sessions 👍🏻
Recommend changing because if fluid is over 1 yr old it has absorbed water and brakes will fade as water changes to vapor as it heats. Cool down to let brakes cool and not warp rotors. Do not set parking brake.
@@maxmartz4665 car has 2500km on it
Man I want a veloster N 😩
good video as usual . can you guys do a review on kia forte GT with GT2 package on?
Great video all around, fellas!
Cool video, excited to watch!
05:48 Anyone know where I can get that car camera mount?! Wanna get one but these guys stopped putting Amazon links in their description. :(
This is a secret rig that Yuri built that no one knows about
Industrial suction cups and a tripod?
In my opinion the most suitable trackday car is an mx-5, if you are wondering let me explain. When all other cars rely on engine power, the mx-5 only relies on its road holding
I really hope this is a yearly event!
This was an awesome video
The stupid grins on all three of your faces at the end of the video are fantastic.
I might bring over my Toronto Taxi Cab with bald undersized winter tires and over 100k of taxi use, while still on all original factory wear item (except tires). Would be a real beater on the drag strip.
The one and the only question I wanted to ask: how the insurance works on track?
Typically your insurance won't cover any sort of track driving and you will be liable for 100% of the cost/damages. Also car manufacturers sometimes state that driving your car on a track will void your vehicle's warranty.
Thanks guys for this great video. Still wish I lived in Toronto but I have to make do with the Poconos raceway. Cheers!
Go see Chris Fix drifting at Pocono!
Cones are like diamonds on a pool table
Don't you need extra/special insurance for a track day?
Afaik it's optional
Most people don't get trackday insurance; however, it can be a good idea depending on the track or car.
Depends on what you're doing. It's there if you want it, but if you aren't thrashing your car you should be fine
CLP yea but itd be just track to track type stuff maybe idk I’m in America and we don’t have track insurance really it’s mostly u wreck ur cars sucks u brought ur car out here have a nice day dealing with that we’ll call a tow tho
Trackday insurance is common in the UK but optional. However it only covers your car. There is no claiming on anybody elses insurance so everybody has to ensure their own insurance is in order. Typically the excess is 10% of the insured value if you claim.
If you want to do a track day for the first time Porsche Club of America runs events all over the states and is welcoming to all makes of cars. It's all volunteer and not-for-profit so very affordable compared to for-profit outfits. We have a big focus on safety and fun. Hey Jacob and Yuri, if you ever want to drive Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course or Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a track day, hit me up! Mid-Ohio Region PCA has events at both every year.
Yo everyone's talking about the read windscreen, which is also brilliant, but the camera mount coverup changes shade with the shadows and sunlight XD
What was that prowler vs raptor drag race vid?
Coming soon
TheStraightPipes perfect, 🙏🏼
