Spyro 2 hasn't aged well to me. You know those cool abilities Sparx gains in Spyro 3? It looks like he could have had those in Spyro 2 originally, but they were cut out. Why? Because Spyro 2 was a rush job.
Insomniac is my favorite game creator. They put the time and effort into their games. They started small and grew with a fan base. They deserve all the love they get! Love spyro and i love Ratchet and Clank!

Make no mistake about it . As soon as Mark Cerny took them under his training . Thats when they blew up . He hired them for Activision then after that had a hand in them getting a contract with sony and finally getting bought by Sony
Universal I think you mean, but yeah I totally agree, once Cerny took a shining to them that was it, done deal! Cerny still works with them till this day.
it's a modern thing. for some reason games now our days have to be more like Hollywood movies even if it doesn't suit them. it's also becoming quite clear that a lot of recent movies have just been remakes or adaptations of other stories. there's rarely anything new. game companies are using a similar strategy by reusing game characters and placing them in a rather unsuitable enviroment
i like both spyro and R&C. the reason spyro and crash didn't have much of a story is because they were mainly focused on the gameplay which in a way makes more sense for a game.
What's funny is I still have spyro 2 and ratchet and clank 3 to this day the to games they developed and I also loved the fact at certain times of day you could find portals to museums of insomniac games inside ratchet and clank

sly cooper is made by sucker punch. or should i say WAS made by sucker punch. the game series is now being ran by sanzaru games and in my opinion they've done a good job bringing the sly cooper series back to life!
People saying that Ratchet & Clank is the reason Insomniac "gave up" Spyro, don't blame it on R&C, blame it on Universal Interactive. Insomniac had a contract with Universal and that contract only lasted for a few years until expiration.
So they left Spyro after 3 games, why didn't they do the same with Ratchet & Clank? R&C is still going 10+ years later( unless Full Frontal Assault was the last one)

lets be honest both of the attempts insomniac made to steer away from R&C didn't turn out so well (at least in my opinion they didn't) resistance went on for quite a while but from what i've seen not a lot of people knew about it. personally i thought the resistance series was just a little bit too gloomy and felt kind of like call of duty with aliens. and then there was fuse which looked like it was going to be good but was clearly butchered by EA games.
Ratchet and clank is one of my favourite video games don't give up on them like you did with spyro and peeps who think it's all over for r&c are so wrong they are making a movie based on the first game and a brand new proper r&c game called into the nexus which has some awesome new graphics, puzzles, physics, guns and of course the gadgets. If you ask me ratchet and clank are the best thing that happened to ps2 and this new stuff will reboot the series and make it great again
@James Schultz Whaaat, Resistance 2 and 3 are some of my FAVORITE games EVER. I like them more than Uncharted because they have exploration and RPG elements with badass enemies in the middle of an apocalyptic alienated WWII setting!

ok look, i loved ratchet and clack and i think going commando is the best game in the series, but the games don't have any connecting story with each other. that all 4 one bullshit was the final nail in the coffin for me. to really win me back, they need a game with a solid story and gameplay that isn't so repetitive
No offense to Spyro fans, but I never really found the games that fun, gliding around and stuff was interesting, but mostly it was a bore to me 'cause that's really all I ended up doing! When I first played Ratchet and Clank though, my brother had to drag me out of the room to get me to go to bed, and that was only a few years ago when I went to visit him!
Spyro could have survived if the developers of Insomniac had been smarter with their decisions. They didn't have to be working with Universal they could've just been working with Sony directly and kept making games for my childhood gaming idol. If any of you guys say Spyro is a bad game, &$@! YOU! Spyro went platinum in his era, sold more than 8 million copies. Now it may not be as good as your Call of Duty crap but at least his developers did something new with each of Spyro's games not just add a few little tweaks and maps.
