I think what is happening is you are giving rudder input when you are dropping your gear. Never give any rudder input until the gear is all the way down. It can cause the arm to bind to the retract box. Always take your finger off the rudder when cycling the gear. We instinctively use the rudder without knowing we do especially when first learning the rudder we use it more often. Any input when dropping or retracting can cause a bind. The Avanti is a great flying sport Jet. I converted one into a pusher prop and removed the retracts hand launch only. It will go 160+ MPH with the foam and wings vibrating and fluttering like Mia Khalifa. I'm waiting for it to explode mid-flight one day, lol.
So after looking more into it, it actually isnt rudder input. I don't use rudder, its actually a bad habit lol Im too used to bank and yanks, but after talking with FMS it looks like the steering arm that slides up and down was SLIGHTLY sticking delaying the arm movement just enough that it would get hung up. Thats why inverted it would work properly, but right side up would stick. Inverted, gravity was helping it slide. They said a little bit of oil on that arm and it should be ready to rock and roll!
@@Mach3RC You need to use more rudder, It comes with time. I better oil mine up. Thanks for the heads up. Did they say what kind of oil? I'm guessing lithium grease so it doesn't pick up grass and dirt and stay sticky?
Nice work dude! Just keep in mind that the more you fly, the less anxious you'll feel. Just don't get to where Jon is where you have no fear for anything, otherwise you'll just make dumb mistakes from a total lack of fear lol
Hahaha, I appreciate you! I’m trying to fight those nerves, it’s just like lately every plane is bigger than the last 😅 but I’ll definitely keep that in mind. Middle of the road is the best spot to be! I’ll keep binging twobrosrc to get better
Why do 90% of RC pilots NOT understand a "stabilized approach". Go out farther on downwind, slow down, turn base with gear down, set power for steady decent, make your final turn and then "Pitch for ATTITUDE, Power for ALTITUDE. You will look like a master everytime. These chop and drop, point down to the runway from a fast base is driving me crazy. When you think you are going to land yet are already too fast then lower the nose drastically all you do is increase speed, then seems to panic and through the nose into the grass way too fast. Practice makes perfect. By the way a complete stall series will sure help the way you fly.
Probably because I’ve been flying less than a year. I was extremely nervous flying this. You also need to remember that a lot of these videos you’re seeing my MAIDEN flight. The first time I ever touched the plane. I can assure everything smooths out after getting my hands on a plane and flying it a few times.
I just bought the Avanti 90mm and I realized this commenter described exactly how you need to land the FA18 in DCS too. Set you AOA for x degrees and use throttle to control descent. With a stabilized receiver in RealFlight it works just like the DCS jet, so let’s see if real life punches me in the face.
Thank you very much for your video! It has also happened to me in some jets and in the end the ones I enjoy the most are the 64mm ones like the futura, that the train is fixed but with suspensions and the jet behaves incredibly well! In a 90mm jet, with how expensive it is, they wouldn't have to have these problems, greetings!!
They have a sticky material on the landing gear out of the box, I think some of it got on the steering arm causing it to slightly hang up. Oiled up should help it
Wrong jet! Haha man i love me some chinese buffe as well 😅👍 Great video once again The best option for gear are to add braces (3d printed or home made) unfortunatly this retract goes "the wrong way" but you get the point
hi. i have a fms 1.4 trojan with the same nose gear problem. after bouncing the direction rod go over the servo. If you discover the solution, please make some video about it. Great chanel. congrats
Thank you!! Sorry to hear you’re also having a problem. I’ve been told to oil up the steering arm to make sure it’s not getting caught at all when the mechanism slides. I’ll try it out and let you know if it works!
Squidward: Mayday Mayday Mayday! Me: The ship is sinking captain! Captain: Bring in Mach3RC and give him the controls! Me: Oh, boy, he is going to land the aircraft carrier in the dessert. 😂 Good job, bro. You saved the ship, even though we are in the middle of the Gaza Straight. lol
Great maiden flight and emergency landings. Good thing is that your plane didn't incur any damages. i had the same problem on my fms t28 v4 just sitting in the plane stand i think its a kind of weak design on the gear. i don't think the grass is doing it.

Don't watch fat guy Flys rc channel. Every landing is bouncy/bumpy one. Then when something happens, it's the planes fault....
That was the best emergency landing ever. You didnt even know it was an emergency until after you landed
I think that’s part of the reason it went so well! I’m glad I didn’t notice, I had less nerves haha
Amazing flying and a beautiful plane great to see all the progress you made over the months!!! 😁
Thanks Brad!! Appreciate that very much
Cut the corner off the black Thing! Nice save!

The FMS Futura has the same retracts, they are sensitive to nose heavy landings and fold like paper.
They have a sticky material on the landing gear out of the box, I think some of it got on the steering arm causing it to slightly hang up. Oiled up should help it
landing on the front wheel first is never a good plan...
LETS GOOOOOOOOO you brought her in safely thankfully!
I’m glad it went as good as it did 😅
@@Mach3RC me too man! I cartwheeled my 70mm viper last night heh but a little glue and it'll fly again!
@@RCCruiser AYO! Sorry to hear that man! But i swear.. they always fly better after a little bit of crashin' 🤣

Thank you so much Travis!

Your videos are hilarious. I’m excited to try this same jet this weekend (and start my own channel!) Thank you awesome work
Very nice man
Thanks brotha! 🙌🏻
Nice flight and good save on the landing glad no damage to the jet its really nice looking 👍👍
Don't blame the grass...it should not do that!!
Ahhhhhh🎉🎉🎉🎉 Its so beautiful! How did I get here so early....

Glad you enjoyed the video! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I wonder if you could glue a small piece of styrene tube to keep it from doing that?
You got a sub and a thumbs up JUST because you reminded everyone to not put their retracts up when the plane is on the ground. hahahaaa Nice job.
