Joe's playing is outstanding, always is, always will be... But man, his voice just keeping getting better and better. I like to see him playin' a Strat.
I can't agree with you more. I love when he plays a Strat as well. Oddly enough, as much as I love his sound with one of his Les Pauls... I have ALWAYS been intrigued when he plays a Tele. No matter, this guy just sounds fantastic.
First ..i don´t like him so much ..then i see This Vid and some other stuff (Just got Paid ) , then i realize He is one of the DEFINITIVE Best Blues Players EVER (incl. Clapton ..my Personal God ) , Then i Saw THIS Vid (Blues Deluxe) and i was TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY !!!! Before two weeks i see Him in Münster Live and it was one of the BEST Concerts i Ever seen ... Joe Bonamassa is a PHENOMEN !!
His playing is absolutely incredible. Crazy what simple scales can sound like in the right hands. And I’ve never heard a Strat sound like that! Jesus, WOW!
God how much I love the electric guitar as an instrument in the hands of a skilled player. Doesn't matter if it's Bonamassa, Blackmore, Holdsworth, SRV, Scofield, Beck etc. I just love it =)
@Noah G, I legitimately burst out laughing when I read your comment. I know the feeling man. I'm a semi-professional guitarist who has played in bands and gives guitar lessons. But everytime I think, "Hey, I'm not too bad at this," I watch videos like this and think, "Fuck! I'm terrible!" hahaha
Just awesome. This cut got me to thinking what a cruel teaser life can be at times. What do I mean by that? What would undoubtedly be the best blues /rock jam of all time cannot ever be. Joe Bonamassa and Duane Allman. That would melt the strings right off their guitars!!
If only SRV was still with us, I could imagine these two just going crazy on this. Joe thank you for your hard work and dedication to the cause! You hold the torch now!
Is that a 3 way switch? Notice how he's moving it constantly while playing. His control of dynamics is just astonishing. He's hands down the best all out electric blues player on the planet. Just incredible.
I totally agree with you. His tone, attack, volume control and melody progression is beyond understanding let alone his rythmic precision! As a player myself, I consider him my all best favorite musician so far! Totally unique.
It’s a 5 way switch. Maybe he sticks with it and maybe it’s intentional and I agree with how you about how good he is but I think he’s used to other guitars primarily and he’s not intentionally switching them. The controls on a Strat are a little too accessible
It's music that requires creative imagination and with which , I can work creatively ....... there is something about it that elevates man to the limits of creative imagination ......
Joe has played this tune in different styles and in different band configurations, but I like this stripped-down power trio version the best. That solo is just absolutely devastating. Super clean technique and the power just explodes out of that Strat. I've lost track of how many times I have watched this clip. Gives me goosebumps every time.
Any criticism of this virtuosic performance represents abject poverty in understanding the Blues and what it takes to play the Blues with soul. This performance is earth shattering, loaded with passion, and reaches a workload level few performers can compete with today. Just watch and look at the guy. He's giving his soul to it.
I met a blues man once in 1980 or 81 traveling through Mississippi or alabama don't know. Out behind the piggy wiggly by the railroad tracks. The man played about 20 notes per minute as he cried a river. Told me when he got back from ww2 his parents and little brother and sister were gone, house empty, never knew what became of them. But he cried because of what they would think if they knew what became of him. Lived along the tracks for 30 + years. That was a blues man. When you got $10k amp $6k guitar, Roadys, Ungodly studio equipment and sound men. He ain't playing because he's blue. But I will say he works hard, plays with passion, speed and accuracy like very few others. Definitely in my all time top 10.
@ Joe Pasco You are an imbecile. Your diagnosis from a distance of another's psyche while setting yourself up as supreme judge says far more about you than anyone else.
Yeah, Joe's playing is very good no doubt, but it lacks originality. His voice sounds like a kid. Like SRV and Tab Benoit more. They have an original sound and style of playing and both are good musicians as well. I have seen Joe twice. His best songs live are COVER SONGS LIKE THIS ONE by Jeffrey Rod from the Jeff Beck 1968-Truth-album.
JIMI ..not Jimmy ..Jimmy was Page , and Jimi Hendrix LoL LoL Pagey is also one of my BIGGEST Idols , direct beneath Hendrix and Clapton ...The Holy Trinity of Electric Guitars :-D,
The first one minute seventeen second of this songs holds by far one the greatest blues intros ever recorded. His playing is so tasteful yet technical in that intro and throughout the song that it just makes me Sick. I feel that the tone Joe gets from that 60s Stratocaster has more depth and soul than any sound he gets from his Les Paul's. And this is amazing to me as I feel Joe has the best all around tone out there today. Just Amazing Playing and Incredible Tone.
He REALLY Knows how to play a Stratocaster ... Absolut Damm Fucking Great Show ...He is sometimes TOO Perfect ... His Sound is ..WHOAAAAOOO..unbelievable cool ... i think this is a 62/63 Strat with overwound Pickups , Sensationell Cool Instrument
Crank the amp to the breakup. The more Volume, you cut the tone a bit. That’s how you get Strat Fat tone. Scott Henderson also does the same. Roll the Tone(Treble) knob a bit to Kill the Brightness...
Killer on the Road it’s the way we operate in England, whilst the American crowds scream and shout for no immediate reason 😂,we save it until the end of the song to lose our minds so we can fully appreciate the experience
I don't know too much about love baby now But I sure think I got it bad yeah I don't know too much about love baby now But I sure think I got it bad yeah Some people say love is just a gamble Ooh whatever it is about to drive me mad yeah I sit here in my lonely room now Tears flowin' down my eyes As I sit here in my lonely room now Tears flowin' down my eyes I wonder how you can treat me so low down and dirty You know what? Your heart must be made out of ice yeah Sometimes I get so worried baby now You know I wanna sit down and cry myself to sleep Sometimes I get so worried baby now You know I wanna sit down and cry myself to sleep Cause I don't know too much about love babe But I sure think I, sure think I, got it bad yeah Oh, I sure think I got it bad yeah
That middle strat pickup into a Marshall, turned up to 11, is one of THE most raw, powerful sounds known to mankind. Joe's tone here is eerily reminiscent of the early Hendrix recordings from late 66/early67 when all he had was that one sunburst strat and a Marshall (and maybe a germanium fuzz face). Just fingers, wire, and wood. The Radio One sessions have that same raw sound. In the hands of a real master, it's hard to beat. This is, hands down, one of the best live recordings I've ever heard.
That's what you call, "tearin it up". There was no place left for that song to go, Joe wrung it all out until there was nothing left but a stunned crowd and smoking frets.
I keep coming back to this video. I've lost count how many times I've seen it. Joe lets it all hang out on that solo and punishes that Stat, but never gets lost. Very SRV like in the way he just flows. Outstanding.
I am also a "Stratist" and a PROUD owner of a 7ender Customshop Postmodern Journeyman Relic in Sunburst . The Neck PU sounds Like a P.A.F. Humbucker but its a Singlecoil (Overwound Mid 60´s Style) But a Good Les Paul is ALWAYS a Great Instrument , i Like Gibsons too , and Love my "Cheapo" SG
Lets say , If you can Play a Strat like THIS , then you are Joe Bonamassa , A Really Killer @This Instrument .. Marshall Silver Jubilee and a Strat = TOTAL AWESOMNESS
Gazz Dean Like this it sure looks and sounds like it What about like double trouble? They seemed a bit more enthoustic and sounded more fluid. This is kinda lame on the rhythm, bass and percussion. Its is. Not being a troll either.
The bass player and drummer have total control of the energy and drive of this whole performance without that energy from the rhythm section it wouldn’t be interesting at all to listen to even with the killer guitar solos. Playing bass or drums on a song like this can be just as much fun as playing lead guitar but only if the rest of the band is there putting that same level of energy and focus in with you. Just my opinion though
You don't have to go crazy on them to make good music. Blues is mostly about guitar solos, rythm and the lyrics. You hear some rad bass and horns every now and then but joe is the star of this band so obviously it's about guitar. Not only that but I bet they wouldn't be playing such huge venues around the world in some metal band smashing on the drums as opposed to rythm for Bonamassa.
just saw Joe for the first time the other night here in Long Beach. Two hours & 10 minutes with no breaks, no intermission and that joe b. level of intensity all the way through. What a show... Wow!
This Vid grows to one of my ABSO FUCKING LuTELEY Favourite Stratocaster Solos ever ..Joe Bonamassa is Such a Great Player .. Strat and Marshall Silver Jubilee ...i Have NO Questions !!!! (DreamTeam)
Joe's playing is outstanding, always is, always will be... But man, his voice just keeping getting better and better. I like to see him playin' a Strat.
I don't know why so many peoples always critiZies him. He's a brilliant player and a good good singer.
I can't agree with you more. I love when he plays a Strat as well. Oddly enough, as much as I love his sound with one of his Les Pauls... I have ALWAYS been intrigued when he plays a Tele. No matter, this guy just sounds fantastic.

Joe Bonamassa is a PHENOMEN !!
Love Joe on the Strat....since the first time I seen him in 04
He’s playing with a lot more feel than he used to. Less flashy flashiness. I’m glad to see that.
His playing is absolutely incredible. Crazy what simple scales can sound like in the right hands. And I’ve never heard a Strat sound like that! Jesus, WOW!
Best real blues guitarist of our generation. Not bullshit “pop blues”.
Definitely the best I have ever heard him play , my Strat must be defective !
😁😁👍
Real feeling blues
God how much I love the electric guitar as an instrument in the hands of a skilled player. Doesn't matter if it's Bonamassa, Blackmore, Holdsworth, SRV, Scofield, Beck etc. I just love it =)
Nice tone he's getting from his Strat here. Playing is crisp and excellent, as per usual.
Theres nothing more beautiful than seeing this Strat in front of the double head Marshall Silver Jubilees
Damned, he really plays like if it was his last evening on Earth... Incredible.
My strat sounds like shit, but now I'm thinking it's because of me :(
you think,me too.
and ive been playing since i was 8 im 64 now
Don’t feel bad , we all sound crap after watching joe ;) lol
Just dropped mine off at the good will.
This is some of the best blues i've seen Joe play, and with a Strat. Nice!
Just awesome. This cut got me to thinking what a cruel teaser life can be at times. What do I mean by that? What would undoubtedly be the best blues /rock jam of all time cannot ever be. Joe Bonamassa and Duane Allman. That would melt the strings right off their guitars!!
Unreal
This man has given new life to the Blues.
Thank the Gods!
Nobody does it Better!!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH YEAH JOE IS THE KING !
Just a killer version of this song by the master himself smokin joe....
ABSOLUT GÖTTLICH !!!!
Joe Bonamassa is one of the greatest Blues Players around
Hot damn that's some Blues Power don't ya know............
INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!
If only SRV was still with us, I could imagine these two just going crazy on this. Joe thank you for your hard work and dedication to the cause! You hold the torch now!
Let Steve go man
Enjoy this cat while you're able. All the
Best go young.
Go Joey go!!!
You took the words out of my mouth ! 👍
His hands! Wow! No words ... I just wished I heard of this guy earlier so I could have been at the Borderline. What a performance!
Have loved every version of this song! He's still got it for a 3 piece band 💥💥
It’s the volume nob , the first one on a strat.
It’s a 5 way switch. Maybe he sticks with it and maybe it’s intentional and I agree with how you about how good he is but I think he’s used to other guitars primarily and he’s not intentionally switching them. The controls on a Strat are a little too accessible
Sitin back n blow away !
Joe rocks , saw him live once can't wait to see him again!!!!
Joe is SO GOOD, can't wait to see him at Red Rocks in two days!
It's music that requires creative imagination and with which , I can work creatively ....... there is something about it that elevates man to the limits of creative imagination ......
So sad don't like to see you so blue Joe🎸🎼🎵🎶🎤✌🥀😪
One of the best versions ever!
Joe has played this tune in different styles and in different band configurations, but I like this stripped-down power trio version the best. That solo is just absolutely devastating. Super clean technique and the power just explodes out of that Strat. I've lost track of how many times I have watched this clip. Gives me goosebumps every time.
Dammit, Joe !
This was the first JB tune I ever heard..been loving every single thing he does since! Can't get enough...
You know when Joe is getting serious and digging into his solo break ...... he bares his teeth.
...was so privileged to be there, just a few feet away,as this was unleashed by the beast... God bless my Angels!
Not sure if Anton Fig could have had a better time...his smile is tremendous!
thanks, Joe, for keeping blues in it´s purest form alive...
This guy has done everything I ever wanted to do to a guitar, better than I ever could. In just this song.
These are some top notch musicians! Bonamassa is definitely a virtuoso, but don't forget about Anton Fig in the background tearing it up.
Wow. @$$ Kicked Again. Amazing. Thanks for sharing ``The Magic `` WOW. =)
Stevie is smilin´from way up above :)
Imagine those two playing together! Wow this is so good!
Stevie's gone kids.
Admire what you've got !
Has anybody here ever heard the Swedish blues guitarist Rolf Wikström? If you haven't, please check him out!
I second that!

Absolutely, straight up right.

Joe sounds sick playing a strat. I like it better than his les paul
I hit the like button because I couldn't find the HOLY SHIT!!!!! button,

Hes outstanding 👏 he makes playing look like the most natural thing in the world, awesome 👌 💜🎸
He's tearing it up!!! Shredding some government cheese!!!
Effing brilliant . ! Rock on JB 🎸❤️🎸❤️🎸❤️
I can’t tell if that’s the lamest crowd ever or if they’re just watching in awe
Killer on the Road it’s the way we operate in England, whilst the American crowds scream and shout for no immediate reason 😂,we save it until the end of the song to lose our minds so we can fully appreciate the experience

sheehy933 haha, at first glance I thought that last sentence ended in “and smoking farts”. I thought, what the heck??
Absolutely incredible.
I wish I could spot Joe BOnamassa playing in every pub or club I step in
I keep coming back to this video. I've lost count how many times I've seen it. Joe lets it all hang out on that solo and punishes that Stat, but never gets lost. Very SRV like in the way he just flows. Outstanding.
What an incredible performance. The guitar and vocals were just perfect.
P.s. Joe B to John Mayer? I can NOT stop laughing.
Joe was born with the Blues!!! And that Damn Old Fender!!!!!!! What can I say!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Omg ! Smoking Joe got them strings on 🔥 🎸🔥🎸🔥🇺🇸🔥🎸
That Strat sounds so much better than the Les Paul IMO
+Michael Bell Totally agreed
asd
I am also a "Stratist" and a PROUD owner of a 7ender Customshop Postmodern Journeyman Relic in Sunburst .
The Neck PU sounds Like a P.A.F. Humbucker but its a Singlecoil (Overwound Mid 60´s Style)

Marshall Silver Jubilee and a Strat = TOTAL AWESOMNESS
Yes indeed even when joe plays !!!
I love Joe way more on a strat more than the LPs
That's what I call the real soul of a Stratocaster. Very Hendrix like. Excellent playing. This boy is hot
OUTSTANDING MUSICIAN?SINGER?ENTERTAINER....... You da man, JOE B.!!!!!!
When white guy has blues. Damn Joe! Them vocals...
"Blues wannabe". Uh...yeah...right. Absolute blues master and then some is more like it.
A fine example of how a woman can drive a man mad , if he has electric guitars-look out.😅
Can't even describe how this electrified my evening. Master class.
Somewhere, right now, Joe B is shredding and melting faces
Awesome but the version at Rockpalast is better.
Joe Blues is amazing!
Speaking of the blues..... yesssss !!
This is positively absolutely kick ass blues!🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸 I've heard the greats and nobody can beat Joe B, one of the true greats himself!!😎😎😎
Nobody? Hhmmnn.
Dobra technika, ale mi brak w tym uczucia?
I bet rod Stewart is thinking wow I didn't think my composing was that good lol ....
A tone to die for.
The Bordeline …. 20 minutes away. Where the heck was I ? Maybe next time….😅
...don't feel too bad... it was £500 a ticket... ;)
Joe is a monster on guitar. his technique in blues is perfect.
The Absolute Perfect Stratocaster Tone
The middle pickup is so underrated!!! Awesome!!!
VitorFortaleza you’re right. Didn’t notice he was using it for a lot of this.
My favorite setting is the number 4 slot on the switch (middle and bridge pickup)...such a cool midrange tone with a lot of bite!
He middle pup gets so much hate. No idea why, I dig it in my strat, and I dig it even more on Joe’s. It has an interesting mid character.
VitorFortaleza clapton uses the middle pickup in his strat too.
An early sixties Strat and a Marshal Half probably the only thing God and the Devil can agree on.
Wow, just a level above any blues I've seen in decades! Incredible. I never believed the making a deal with the devil, but.... 😆
I suspect blues can be quite boring for a drummer & bass player.
Gazz Dean
Like this it sure looks and sounds like it
What about like double trouble?
They seemed a bit more enthoustic and sounded more fluid.
This is kinda lame on the rhythm, bass and percussion.
Its is. Not being a troll either.
I see it like a way to begin learning
The bass player and drummer have total control of the energy and drive of this whole performance without that energy from the rhythm section it wouldn’t be interesting at all to listen to even with the killer guitar solos. Playing bass or drums on a song like this can be just as much fun as playing lead guitar but only if the rest of the band is there putting that same level of energy and focus in with you. Just my opinion though
Not if you’re a good drummer or bass player.
This is so OUTRAGEOUS BRILLIANT strat Playing (It´s a 62 Strat i think)
Joe Bonamassa , is a DAMM Great Player
just saw Joe for the first time the other night here in Long Beach. Two hours & 10 minutes with no breaks, no intermission and that joe b. level of intensity all the way through. What a show... Wow!
he is nonstop energy in concert
I now need a cigarette and I don’t even smoke...
This Vid grows to one of my ABSO FUCKING LuTELEY Favourite Stratocaster Solos ever ..Joe Bonamassa is Such a Great Player ..
Strat and Marshall Silver Jubilee ...i Have NO Questions !!!! (DreamTeam)
Бонамасса СУПЕР! ЛУЧШЕ ВСЕХ!
Comparing Joe to John Mayer is like comparing apples to donuts!
Mayer is trash. every guitarist hates that cunt
