- Over fourth of July weekend 2024, Rob and I made some last minute adjustments to our plan and rode the Olympic Adventure Route and Cowichan Valley 8 Loop. We met up with Rob (Salty Beard) in Victoria and got a grand tour.

New sub and a Portland native. I’m working towards doing some bike packing this year when the weather improves but in the meantime I’m trying to ride as far and as often as I can. Very curious about your bikes, the what’s and why’s of your setup. If you haven’t covered it previously I’d love to see that (however brief) in a future episode. Loving all your videos and it’s providing me with so much fuel and inspiration. You guys rock!

Fantastic video as always. Excellent storytelling and narration. I was fortunate to do both of these rides last year and I loved how well maintained and flowy the discovery trail is.

This makes me miss BC! You got to meet Salty! I'm jealous! Come out to Nova Scotia some day, you can ride from anywhere to anywhere via trails through the woods in the old Appalachian mountains and camp on wild Atlantic beaches.

Great ride. FYI the Olympic Adventure Trail turns into the Discovery Trail and goes to, and through, Port Angles. If you had taken a Left from the RV park and then a Right onto Elwa River Rd, you would have been on a bike path the entire way into PA. 101 sucks! :-)

This was a typical ride that we threw together last minute and clearly did not do our homework.
I hope to do this ride again with some stuff added on in BC maybe Port Townsend and more ferry rides.

I definitely want to head up further north and would love to sync up with you on some routes. You'd crush us, but it would at least be fun to watch Parker suffer! Already thinking about 2024 plans... I'll reach out to you if I actually think we'll make it up there!

My crushing days are over ;) I'm ready to pack a bottle of wine, @robparker8 style and focus on mid-ride swims.
I haven't done the ODA yet. But the Cowichan and Sooke Trails are some incredible riding. There are a lot more trails in Southern Vancouver Island to explore should you make it back up there.
I definitely intend to at some point. ODA is really awesome, I highly recommend it.
