Hello. My name is Lynn Vandevander. I live in Altoona, Pennsylvania. My ancestors came from Deventer Netherlands in the early 1700’s. I am a direct descendent to Peter Vandevander. You may read about him in “The History of Brady Township, Huntington county , Pennsylvania “. He was one of the first frontiersman in our area of Pennsylvania and he had to fight for his life against hostile Indians and was considered a great hunter.
From BC Canada. Deventer is where I grew up and most of the history and beauty went un-noticed when it is part of your day-to-day life. What a shame! Now, I have become a tourist in my home town and paid more attention to what the city has to offer. It is a wonderful city, lots of cafe's, restaurants, specialty shops and small streets to stroll through giving you the feeling of travelling back in time. Thanks for making this wonderful video.
Hoi Erik! THanks for your comment. I think it's very common to take things for granted as children, that we then only appreciate when we travel away and get more perspective. Deventer is a very beautiful city, especially at this time of year. Do yo get to visit there much? Have a great day, Adele
