Starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, Buddy Baer,
Jack And The Beanstalk (1952) gave Fifties audiences their first look at the boys in color. Managing to work Bud & Lou into a faithful musical adaptation of the fairy tale, the script places less emphasis on the team s burlesque roots and focuses on their appeal to children. As Jack, Costello gets to show off his pantomime skills. And, naturally, Abbott is the butcher that cons Jack out of the cow.
I viewed this as a very serious movie when I was a young boy. Now as a man, I realize it's a comedy. I like it even better now.
I love Abbott and Costello movies I will keep watching them
Another great Abbott & Costello movie although, I loved them all and have been watching them since 1956, not to mention every daytime show! - John Dio
I have a passion for old shows and movies. Abbott and Castello being one of my all time favorites.
Lou could play the clumsy character so well 👌 both him & Norman wisdom were genius at it 😀
The way it turns from black and white to color reminds me of the wizard of oz
I'm watching this for the first time in many years and noticed that when they were climbing the bean stalk, at around 28:25 mark you can see the rungs of the ladder they're using for climbing.
Did you think they were tugging on leaves and beans 😂
I've never been a big fan of musicals but old classic movies such as this seem to fall into a separate category for me.
I. Love. Movie.
This is what 2020 needs!!!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'s .. One of my ALL TIME favorite Old Hollywood movie's and definitely my favorite comedy duel ever!. My Dad as a young boy delivered news papers to Lou Costello when he lived in Paterson New Jersey in 1938. Every Christmas he would give my dad 10 Dollars!
WOW! That's AWESOME!
My brother and sister-in-law lived across the street from where Costello used to live. There should be a plaque on that house. My sister-in-law just recently sold their house after my brother died.
RIP to the greatest and funniest comedy duo this is my favorite movie by them
The most iconic scene was when they did there skit who's on first
Awesome!
Jack And The Beanstalk, JR likes this.
Bud Abbott did a great toast,
May you live as long as you want and never want as long as you live 💗🙂🍀🍀☮️❤️⭐
I really enjoy Abbott and Costello movies. Thank you so much!
Thank you ; I had never seen this movie. Only the fairy tale storybook version; A good comedy with varying imaginative messages.
It's Jack and the Beanstalk!!! Damn!! Even though it was a comedic version of this fairy tale. The story was an OLD and WELL KNOWN for at least a HUNDRED years. How could a person putting this adaptation on You Tube, not know how to spell BEANSTALK!! DAMN AGAIN!!
It’s older than 100 years old. I live in the county in the UK where the story originated. Try 100’s of years old.
A GREAT MOVIE IT IS SO FUNNY
Thank yous for sharing

Joker: "Hey, Mr. Giant! Ever considered your danger place that has to do with your golds, jewels, and all your life in stake?!"
(Hit and broke down the beanstalk)
Joker: "Timberrrrr!"
(Joker laughing)
just read that the executive producer of that film was pat costello, older brother of lou
The U.S.A. Sure screwed these two great men. Such a tragic shame …
I watched it as a kid on t.v IRAK 1985 then my dad recorded it on VHS and kept it .
Have no fear when you are in the right, always be of good cheer speak life and prosperity
5 a day
My Great Grandfather drove a taxi back in New York. He would occasionally drove Bud Abbot around. Although thats all i know about it
Thanks for sharing! :)
Hey Master Blackthorne...quit splitting hairs and just enjoy the movie. God...some people...picky, picky, picky!
The title of this movie is Abbott and Costello in Jack and the Beanstalk! Not Beanstock! Good movie!!
A terrible mistake to make
First of a pair of films produced by either Abbott or Costello (this film). Of course Buddy Baer was Max Baer's uncle (Max Baer of course played Jethro on the Beverly Hillbillies).
He incridible baby is talking better than me kkkk !!!.
Open the door.....OPPPEEEENNNNN THE DOOORRRR !!
Lol, the "giant" wearing giant heel boots.
In 1952 I was in the first grade. This is the first time I have seen this Jack and the Beanstalk and I am now 77 years old. The best comedy team! Made me laugh. Also made me wonder about Polly and the cow. I did not see them after it showed Polly riding the cow out of the castle. Maybe she went back to her own land now that she was free of the giant.
Wish they were given more money. Would have been a better produced movie, especially the dancing parts. Abbott and Costello tried hard though.

Here's a Kickstarter to restore this feature film to 4K colour quality.
Did you ever see the movie with with Lou Costello and Bud Abbott called the time of their lives Lou Costello and a girl were ghosts from back in the day haunting this big beautiful mansion and Bud Abbott played someone helping to perform a seance while while they summoned the two ghosts it was hilarious I would like to see it again
I still remember that it's aired on the TV iraq in mid 80s i love this film it's reminds me back to my childhood still keep watching it
Gracias por su película! Atentamente CRISTÓBAL JOBANI ROMERO VILCHEZ DESDE AMATITLÁN GUATEMALA!
Story by pat Costello
Wait bud can't duel so the giant duels with buds body . thanks
Colorizing these old movies makes them much more appealing to the younger generation. Some people don't like it but we can still have the classic B&W versions as well as the updated versions.
This one isn't colorized. It was made in color.
Jack and the Beanstalk was filmed from 9 July through 2 August 1951. Like The Wizard of Oz, the film's opening and closing segments were processed in sepia tone, although many of the DVD releases feature these sequences in black and white, while the entire "Jack and the Beanstalk" story was shot in Eastman Color and processed in the SuperCineColor process. Many television stations that aired the film normally transmitted black-and-white shows and movies with color equipment turned off, so they ran the sepia tone openings and closings in black and white while running the color portion in color. In addition, animation is used when showing the beanstalk growing in Jack's backyard.
