Great tips. Safari is an excellent browser; I just wish developers would write their extensions for Safari. Some shopping sites depend on their extension, but only with Chrome- that's one piece of software I DO NOT want on my computer.
As someone new to Apple, I really appreciate this channel. I recently bought the I-Pad Mini 6 and M3 Macbook Air. There is a learning curve for sure, but your channel really helps the transition. I will be transitioning fully within a few weeks when I trade in my Android phone and watch for the 16 Pro or Pro Max and watch ultra 2. One thing so far that concerns me though is how files will work with the I-Phone plugged into the Macbook. With Windows and Android, the Android just becomes part of the file structure like an external drive. When I plug my I-Pad into the Macbook, it's entirely different, unless I'm missing something. I'll search your channel to see if I can find a good tutorial, or at least a good explanation of how it's supposed to work.
Good video, nice channel, I’ve subscribed. I noticed that your web history is not extensive, day-by-day. Does that mean that Safari is not your default browser?
Having gone through the Oasis ticket craze recently (and still going through it), sometimes Ticketmaster doesn’t show the location map of a venue if I’m using iCloud Relay. With that in mind, I created a nifty little keyboard shortcut to show my IP address, if the page don’t load correctly. I guess the site detects I’m a bot, with the iCloud Relay IP. Hope this helps.
I don't currently use any extensions, there's nothing I need. I don't use an ad blocker because it cheats content creators like me out of the money they need to pay their bills. MacMost.com has no ads today (thanks to Patreon supporters!) but it did for many years at the start and wouldn't exist today without them. If a site has too many ads that get in the way, I simply stop going to that site and find an alternative.
Great video I’m using an iPhone 12 Pro Max but why are my videos not using the whole screen and I have the grey bars down both sides, I might as well have a small screen if not filling the whole space.
Hard to say for sure without more details, but keep in mind that most videos at 16:9 and your iPhone is much wider than that when on its side. So of course there would be more space on the sides.
I find the Safari search bar too small and awkwardly placed on the top of the screen. Is it possible to change that? I would prefer to have the bar right in the middle of the screen, not unlike the Google opening page.
Thank you for your tutorial; it is quite helpful. I use Safari as my primary browser, but more and more sites recommend using Chrome or Microsoft Edge, and I've had situations when a page won't open in Safari but will open in one of the other browsers. Is there hope for a revamped version of Safari? And, by the way, how do I get rid of the annoying message from Google asking me over and over if I wish to switch to Chrome? Thank you!
Not sure what you mean by "revamped." Apple updates Safari many many times per year, with a major new version once a year. Not sure where you are seeing this Chrome message.
The only thing I regret is that Safari does not have the "Type-ahead-find" (or "Find As You Type") function, which is native in Firefox. I miss it very much. There is not even an extension that helps…
Make sure you are using it right. Do a search with the address field. Go to the search results (not a suggested result). Then click on a result shown on the Google (or whatever page).
Can’t believe I learned something new…again! I’m an experienced Mac user, but Gary never fails to deliver. Thanks!
As a wombat, I approve of this safari tutorial.
Excellent video. Very useful tips. Many thanks!
Great, Gary. Very useful. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. Always helpful
It never ceases to amaze me your depth of knowledge Gary 🤓 Always learn something new about things I didn't even know I needed..... Thank You 😊

Always clear and concise
Thanks very much, Gary, for this informative video! Terrific number of tips for making the most of Safari.
Thank you, Gary! 👏🏻❤️
Is there a way to change the color of the active tab so it's more easily seen among all the other tabs?
very useful
16:40 command+shift+T also works

Just use iCloud Drive. You'll see the same files on both, and won't even need to connect them to each other.
I really miss the Firefox feature where you cycle between the last used tabs.
Great video, Gary! Always learning new shortcuts
As usual… it is unbelievable. THANKS!
You can also open the last closed tab with just one shortcut which is Cmd+Shift+T
Great video, very useful for me. Thanks a lot, again! 🙏🏻

Safari is my default browser. But I capture my videos using a demo Mac account, not my real account.
@@macmost Ah ok, makes sense!

Do you use an ad blocker? Do you recommend an ad blocker for Safari? What Safari extensions do you use & recommend?

@@macmost Very admirable. Blocking trackers is one thing, but blocking ads takes food off my table, so I won’t do it to others either.

You could just go to the Google home page then if that is what you want. Bookmark it, maybe add it to your Favorites bar.
@@macmost Thanks

Could you please show which page doesn't open in Safari? (as I have not seen one)

"Return to Search Results" button is always greyed out for me

@@macmost Oh, I got it, it only works when in the same tab (google opens results in new tab for me)
The thing with Garry is that when you think you know something, you realise that you actually dont know anything...
Submit to the Safari supremacy
I won't lie, I CMD+W too fast and it closed the video 😐
