Hi, I have just took up bowling and am looking at tuition video's each night to help me understand the proper set up procedure! The matt you show in your video to explain to the viewers in how to set up is great, the only problem is, I have and maybe more bowlers around the world have is - we don't have these matt's! Our matt's here in Scotland are black, plain with the sponsors name on it, no holes, no lines or markers, just pure black solid matt's! Maybe that's how we British are not as good as you guy's Many thanks for the video, you sure know your stuff!
The mats we use in the UK don't have the holes described in the video. What a wonderful idea. I've been recently taught to visualise an imaginary aiming point a few feet ahead of me either on the lawn or on an indoor rink, which I find challenging! I wonder why aiming points on the mat don't feature on our UK mats!
Very good. Another way is to stand ehind the mat pick your aiming point and 'walk up the line' and omto the mat. I have a lot of metal work in my hips and this gets my hips and everything on that line. If I move to a wider aiming point whilst standing on the mat I FEEL as though I am skew .. my hips haven't come with me. Try it ... :-)

Thank you! from vancouver, canada.
Keith Richards does bowls instruction?
What’s the point of all the other holes??
The other holes are used when the jack has moved. So eg: the jack has moved 30cm to the right, you would use the next set of holes etc.
helpful thanks!
