I have to thank you for giving me the idea to file down the locking lugs in the slide. I was also able to make a DIY fixed OB from a stock one by also filing out the "hook" part to be the same as on an aftermarket fixed OB and then using epoxy to fill in the part in front of where the chamber would be. Night and day in accuracy from the unmodified tilting barrel. Cheapest DIY upgrade ever! I don't even need to upgrade anything else haha.
OMG THANK YOU FANTASTIC INFO just getting into air soft love tinkering just did a barrel a short stroke mapleleaf buckingon a lancer niteshade and you just typed it off with fitment shoots amazing can't thank you enuff😊😊
I think adding a ceramic+ptfe coating meant for real steel could do wonders. Coating the rails of the frame, the slide and outer barrel could potentially prevent wear, especially when combined with proper lubricant on top.
Any tips for fitment of steel outer barrels where when the slide cycles it slams agents the outer barrel near the ejection port. Mine makes a metal smacking sound every time I shoot it now and I know it causing a lot of extra wear
The same thing happens on mine. It’s mostly normal wear but sometimes an aftermarket nozzle can help. I also suggest filing down/totally removing the locking lugs on the slide.
how is yours going? I have a KJW slide fit to am steel barrel almost perfectly. but of course the locking lugs grid on the barrel hood. Since its aluminum on steel the lugs wears down to fit the barrel over time.
With the Xtreme you can use any slide, but the cuts on the BBU are specific to full auto setup, and the internals are slightly different, so you need to use specific BBUs.
I'm guessing I can do these fitment mods on a 1911, right? I've an AW/WE 1911. I saw a different video using epoxy as shim for the chamber and the frame, as well as inside the outer barrel. Your method is less invasive, I will have to try this. Btw is it the o rings that made the outer barrel fixed or are you using a barrel with a grub screw to fix it to the chamber? Also, are the nozzle and bbh of we/aw 1911 single stack compatible with aftermarket slides meant for tm 5.1 hicapa?
the original TM design should have just used a simple blowback mechanism. a fixed inner barrel with a cosmetic tilting sleeve is form over function, or people actually prefer form over function?
ok im a newbe to this stuff. i have a tm goldmatch and im trying to fit a masterpiece threaded outerbarrel but there is absolutely no way of it even comming close to fit.. is it a me problem or a fitting problem
@@GaosenKinetics AIRSOFT MASTERPIECE STEEL THREADED OUTERBARREL 5.1 (copied from website of battleflair where i got it) it litteraly doesnt fit in any way not in the gm slide and not together with the hopunit in the frame without the slide. It fits the hopup unit but thats about it..
From ALL the gas leaking at the end of the video you clearly see you have not a proper seal between the hop up unit and the nozzle this is the reason why you need some play, it is NOT the slide that place the nozzle to the chamber but it is the Barrel itself first then the slide push Both the nozzle and the Hop up unit already sealed, into place. About the Slide locking I agree it is just replica from the real 1911. Nice video
Coming from a machinist stand point, I am amazed by the bad machining and tolerances in the airsoft industry. The fitment of so called "High End" parts is amazingly bad. I don't know how they can sell products like this and still sleep at night.
The machining tolerances of CNC parts in airsoft is the same as you'd have anywhere for similar products; usually -+0.05mm as standard, where needed higher. The issue is not tolerances but of standards; there's generally not a single standard to go by. There's also variation in customer desires and no single "good" dimension for a given product. Some people want a slide to fit tightly on a frame and wear in, some people want it to be looser and don't mind if there's some play. Some people want an outer barrel to touch none of the slide, some people don't want a large gap between the slide and outer barrel, so it looks more like a short-recoiling barrel while also being fixed and not actually short recoiling. Some people will take parts from 10 different manufacturers and put them together in a design >0.10mm will start to cause functional issues, with predictable results when you have different dimensions from different companies stacked on each other. If you don't understand why assembling a machine from multiple different companies without any universal dimensional standards will sometimes require fitment, you don't understand the issues, and are just looking at it through the limited lens of your experience operationally running machining.
@@GaosenKinetics I don't know if you are trying to talk down to me on purpose or not. It is coming off as quite rude. If you are just going to insult me when I was asking a honest question please feel free to go ride someone else's comment as you were not help to me. Your describe 0.05 tolerance is complete bullshit. This is what I have done for a living and i measured this on a Zeiss Cmm which cost roughly $475,000. You obviusly have no idea what happens in a machine shop.
@@schlaznger8049 you didn’t ask any questions. You also ended your statement with “I don’t know how these people can sleep at night”; if you want a purely polite conversation you need to start it yourself instead of being insulting and then demanding a polite answer. And I stand by my statement that you’re only seeing things through the lens of your limited exposure, and your statement prove this by suggesting 0.05mm tolerance is only achievable at a high price point. And again exactly as I noted, you’re also focusing on the one thing you have experience with, which is measuring tolerances, instead of the higher level issue of the existence or lack of industry standardized dimensions and dimension stacking between independently developed designs being used together.
That teflon tape trick is sick. I'm going to start doing that definitely
New subscriber and new to Airsoft at 63 years old. Dam allot of money to this game! Have a fantastic day and great video

Best video for fitment

Nice vid man! going to use those tricks for sure!
Extremely helpful... thanks For the idea bro
awesome vid man
Hi there, would you be able to provide the oring size you use to for shimming the inner to the outer barrel?
Thanks you for the great guide!
Usually an 8x2mm oring will work, but it depends on specifically what barrel you're using.
Love this video, please build more content like this sir, thanks
This is so good to know!!! Thank you so much❤
Very informative,thanks for sharing

another question with the xtreme we can place any slide or it is a specific slide as we have always said

If I got a steel outer barrel and an aluminum slide will the steel eventually crack the slide in places where they slam into eachother?
Please do a slide figment “blowback nozzle and bucking” can’t get the correct suction on the nozzle
Hello excellent video the top Please tell me where I can buy its aluminum outer barrels from Europe thank you for your answer
These will be available soon, I'll update when I've confirmed european stores.
@Gaosen Kinetics Why did the capa shoot full auto?
what type of tracer do you have? Does the thread match the tracer?
My slide has a slight left to right wiggle. Is there anything I can do about that?

this oring which you use is 9x2mm?
Is the tornado barrel from lacapa?
I live in Canada and am having a hard time finding parts for my recently purchased TM 5.1 Gold Match.
Any insight on this?
What Outer barrel is that? Those coloured alu tornado barrels ? Were can you buy Them ?
Im still new to airsoft. Where do you buy the customized barrels at?
can i use the o ring mod if im not using fixed barrel?
Where did you get those o rings from? What size are they?😄
Good shit
Any chance you know the size of the o rings you used?
Can you buy a stock tm outer barrel or do you just have to upgrade.

Where did you buy the paper labels?
hi where buy this???? thnx bro
But where i can buy this orings?
does these fit in 1911 slides?
One question thou, why did it full auto?
This was built on a TM Xtreme 4.3 full auto hi-capa, so that I can give it more of a stress test than a normal hi-capa.

The black steel one there is a 5KU. Very cheap but also very bad tolerances and may require fitment to work.
