I don't like 7 or 9, but this is one of my favourite FF games together with 2, 6, 10, and 15. Mostly for the music and story though, I value those over gameplay. I love how complicated and esoteric the story gets, but I don't really care about the romance either. As a Kingdom Hearts fan, and a person who loves the endings to Evangelion and Fullmetal Alchemist 2003, I love surreal and convoluted stories s whole lot, which is something Final Fantasy doesn't do nearly enough in my opinion, with the ending of 8 and 9, and the dream sequence in the middle of 15 being the only examples I can think of.
Oh wow a longer video by you, nice. I never even thought about that Chocobo point, it would be cool if they were just horses and there were old timey towns where they have them there like they do where I live. I was a dumb dumb kid when I played it and only used summons to fight instead of properly engaging with the systems XD If I were to play it now I am sure I would do better... Hopefully.
I could never really into this FF game much. I got into the series with FF7 and I remember when I played FF8 it felt so strange and different from FF7. I played through this game twice and although I like the music other things like the gameplay mechanics just didn't work well in my opinion. I didn't like how enemies scaled to my level to me that destroys the point of a RPG which is to level up and get stronger by doing so. The junctioning system was also a very bizarre magic system and it took a lot of time to junction tons of spells from enemies and it discourages you from using spells because you want to junction those spells to stats instead.
Will you be doing a review of ff14? Ik it's online but the majority of it can be done solo and most ppl say it's one of the best if not THE best FF story in the series.
I still can't believe you placed FFX lower than FF 13 and FF2. Two of the most controversial or disliked games above one of the most beloved of the series? You got balls I'll give you that.
glad you like the junction system that most people hating the game. like you. i make the game easier early on not to getting thru the pain of grinding like FFVII thats annoying to me. Junction is easy if you know how to tweak and understands its mechanic. the system lets you to expolre and experiment thats why is my fave system on all FF games. i know its not good story. but the games whats makes it cool and thats why i love it so much.
I tried to like 8, it's system is interesting but heavily discourages spell casting and combat. Once you know how to play triple triad and get cards that give stuff like flare and tornado the game is effectively over with a pretty lame story to try to win you over. It just felt so much less fun to min-max in 8 than it did in something like ff2 or 5 mostly because spell casting felt off limits and being low hp for tons of free limit breaks got old fast. However I will praise the fantasy sci-fi and shift in tech later on, wish more games did that these days. Esthar was a really cool location.
While ff8 is really easy to break, most players wont figure that out on their first playthrough. So you ruined the game for yourself by looking it up in advanced
A bang-on review of this... interesting game. Any game would have been hard to follow FF VII, but this game was just extra in not fun ways. Very complex to figure out the many nuances of the party and magic deck crafting. "Tedious Menuning" needs to be added to the dictionary, because that is all you'll be doing in this game! I had no care to learn the card game, either. The random party/story switching was jarring and the ending did not pay off all the grinding this game puts you through.
I’d been with the series from the beginning and this is the first FF I hated, with the second being FFX. Even the crappy main hero didn’t want to be in that shit game. I’m enjoying the pixel remasters much more than I would over even VII, which was not as good as VI, for me. I knew the series was dead after playing XIII. They’re pretty to look at but they are so far from what made the series good. Seems to be a trend. Franchises that were once good are slowly becoming worse. Unfortunately this has affected the Zelda franchise as well.
@@rpg_haven They do. I have just looked at how the franchise has changed. The artwork seems to have a different artist beginning with 7. I did eventually sit down and beat FF8. I even beat that super strong enemy that's found near Bahumat. I didn't like the fact that I couldn't use magic for fear of losing the strength of a junction. It has some positives, but I think it has more negatives.
@@truthseek3017 Twilight Princess surprised me. I really liked that one as well. Same with Ocarina of Time. As for Majora's mask, maybe I was a bit too harsh with that one. I did complete it.

I forgot 10 also gets pretty sureal in the end.
I love 8's final dungeon + ending; it's among the strongest stuff in the series. Probably should have mentioned it
@@rpg_havenI actually Hate FF8s final dungeon. It's probably my least favorite of the ones I played or finished i should say

I'd like to someday, but it's not a high priority right now

Thank you. I don't take common or consensus opinions into account for my personal rankings.
Triple triad, tho

This was my favorite FF title for a real long time.. It still may be, but I like several.. 7, 9, 10, 12 ( i own 1-6 but havent played them)
You should play them!
I might try this game... Is the gameplay like Zelda or kingdom hearts. I'm playing 8 on ps4
Not really

I usually only play games once, so I want to get the most out of the mechanics. That's just how I play RPGs.
@@rpg_haventhen you're not playing them, you're playing how someone tells you to
this.
The real Love Story was meant to be Quistis and Squall. at least in my Head 😂 i was sold on Quistis from her first cutscene.
she sure is a cutir. and the story forgets her latter on unfortunately.

That's an opinion I can respect. Old school RPGs have a unique magic

I don't like the ambient music in the newer zelda games, i like the loud melodic music and temples. I enjoyed OOT, MM and TP the most.

@@truthseek3017 I agree. BOTW and TOTK's music is fine, but I'd prefer if they had more traditional soundtracks. Or at least more catchy songs
Umm yea FF8 was garbage 🗑
Garbage take, but u do u
