Ice Sailing, Pushing it to the limit

Last blast for the season. Chris & Staffan trying to push the Class III ice boat to max.
Ice started to crack up, the wind changed. Another boat crashed and got totally destroyed
Wind: 14-18 knots
Location: Swedish Westcoast, Kungsbacka fjorden Torkeltorp
Top speed Staffan: 61 knots (114 km/h) (70 mph)
Top speed Chris: 46 knots (85 km/h) (53 mph)

Incredible that an Europe type of ice sailor can go 3.8x times the wind speed, I have never seen such a performance :o is it modified?

Wow..... impressive speed!I think this is the highest natural force driven speed you can achieve, except drop from a great height.

Yeah and a bit dangerous when you going 100 km/h one feet above the ice and its difficult to see where the ice ends and water begins :-) But really cool. Want to do more ice sailing!

@@Sailingchris I do want to believe that it is scary to go so low so fast without much overview. You have more chance of ice sailing in your area. Here this works at most once every 5 years.
