Looking at this it takes me back to my own days back in the 1995. I was a owner operator had my own tractor hauled for 2 brokers in the San Francisco area. Did it for 5 years, did not make any money gosh, it was so crazy at those ports trying to get a load. Most of the time you ended up spending al day there getting a load gosh, it was crazy. 😂
Not sure what was worse, grocery warehouses or those container ports, could never get in and out of those places without waiting for someone to go on lunch or break 2 or three times.
I know that! Grocery warehouses, waiting 8 hours for a live load! My opinion is that working in the ports is a lot easier, as a local driver. If I was over the road, I would probably avoid going into the ports.
I saw a job posted los angeles to riverside $200.00 round trip. My question is how many trips could I make a day working the AM 5am to 5pm shift? Im trying to find out if this is a low paying job or not?
I am an employee driver. You can make 2 of those round trips in 12 hours. However, there are so many moving parts that I would not make a guarantee. I would take it, only to get my experience. Today, I don't like working by the trip. We can end up making $60 for one day sometimes! I am very happy at my current employer right now. 😁
Whenever someone starts their hater rant about California I remind them that without the Ports in California the United States would starve and its commerce would go bankrupt in under two years.
So, usually, there is a line for bobtails trucks only, and at this port, we can use that lane with bare chassis, too. However, this lane is very small and difficult to get into. I came-in with a bare chassis that time.

Hi there you O.G! So, all those delays are not happening too much right now, ever since after COVID. I am so happy you watched the video. Thanks! 😄

Recently, things have been slow at the ports, most days, so they get us loaded and out very fast!
