i like how the only update they have rolled out for poe2 is checkpoints, removing skill combos, and nerfing uniques, like lmao the game doesnt have much as is
told my therapist my life sucks. he said don't worry, it's not even halfway done yet. ggg will fix it. let them cook. i went home and got oneshot from offscreen in hardcore poe2. really makes you think.
Poe 2 feels like a game that was taken over by blizzard. The only thing it does better is visuals and boss spectacle, but even boss balance is questionable at the moment. Gameplay wise it feels like a such a downgrade, everything they "learned" in poe1 has been forgotten and its just history repeating itself.
about sockets and runes: you don't necessarily NEED to FIND equipment that has runes. You can use Artificers orbs to increase sockets on equimpent. The drop fairly frequently.
I'll admit, my argument about the runes is my weakest argument in the video. I think overall I just got really unlucky with rune drops and artificer orbs and I was probably using them like an idiot. I'll die on the hill of my other arguments, the runes...not so much.
@@jaeger2278 artificer orbs do not drop frequently in campaign, but runes and sockets aren't even close to necessary during campaign. They drop more frequently in endgame, which is the only time where runes matter In general, most orbs are formed by scrapping unneeded socketed item drops to turn into orbs. I have never ever felt a lack of orbs in endgame, it's a total non issue
This type of frustration happens in alot of games with a competitive scene. Just "Pro" enough to understand most mechanics, not "Pro" enough to excel. Leads to alot of frustration. Happens to players of MOBAs the most. Watch any player climb from the bottom to the top and you'll notice once they hit the middle they start to get pissed at everything. They understand what's going on, but they aren't good enough to do anything about it.
Can we also complain about how in act 3 you have to portal then take a gateway back to the vendors then go back in the gateway then your portal Like what why
omg that stupid gateway drives me mad!! Very cool concept, but the fact that they're different maps but the ONLY way to get between them is the stupid gateway like omg just make it it's own map PLEASE. And like you said, there's no vendors omg I forgot how frustrating that was 😂
First off, you weren't suppose to see that. Secondly, I did generic gameplay to get footage for this video, I had my loot filter turned off and wasn't paying attention to drops while recording.
I really dislike how every one, no matter how critical they want to be says "the campaign is good ofc, we agree on that guys". Lmao it is not, only Act1 is good. Both Act 2 and Act3 are insufferable. Act 2 is complete unlinear chaotic mess of porting around and Act 3 feels like it just wont ever end, already overstates its welcome after you drain the sunk city. The map layouts (both end game and campaign) is horrible walking simulators, the drops are unexciting because this terrible crafting system offers no path of progress. Just a huge waste of game, the whole game, including the campaign.
The whole going back in time so you have to go through multiple loading screens to go to a vendor or refill flasks is infuriating. Trying to find the stones really ticks me off. Afraid to see the next three acts
Agreed. What they are really saying is the balance of the combat and bosses are good in the campaign. And they are. It feels meaningful and allows for more experimentation in builds and discovery. Everything else in the campaign is dogshit. Level design, story, items...etc. just horrible
Act 2 sucks, but act three is cool. The enemy designs are neat, the environments are beautiful, and the finale is subversive. Its "long" but im not in a hurry when I play the game, anyways
@@Grisu. Lmaoooo, Golden comment. This is how it goes... Find xbow on ground --> use transmute --> Ok, decent damage mod --> use regal --> shit mod, throw back on ground.
19:37 This is the best example why average player suffers in PoE. You think you can get strong enough to do content by seeing what is closer to your side of the passive tree, but in reality, all you need to do is travelling around and get most jewel slots as possible and stack something like attributes. And only a few skill gems (like 5% actually works, while other do no dmg to endgame content bosses (20 million hp+ wich implies at least 150k dps to kill the bosses slowly)) Imagine a word where you are free to do these passive tree traveling, but at the same time, doing a build by using only your side of the tree, and at the same time 80% of the skill gems are actually viable. That's happiness, because now you can actually do a build instead being forced to study another's build guide, but GGG refuses to see it.
so basically dumb down the game for you to make "builds" without thinking about it? If im not wrong, for spellcaster theres the stat stacking build that gives buttload of %spell dmg so any spell is viable, is that what you want? (bloodmage iirc, dunno if they did anything to that). Same shit happened to poe1, everyone just do statstacking and slap any skill into their skill bar, nothing matters
As someone relatively new to modern ARPGs (last one I spent any time on was Torchlight 2) I have completely bounced off poe2 after 300h, I feel like they intentionally made design decisions on either propping up their shitty 3rd party trade site (the fact that people would willingly play SSF in this game is crazy to me) or going "hey guys, remember D2" People responding with "its EA! they'll fix it" don't seem to recognise or admit that GGG aren't treating the game as EA, like why do I have to wait for a new league start to actually make Chonk playable, or for them to make drastic balance changes, "oh we don't want to upset people who have invested time into a character build just for them to loose it" while everyone else decides to go back to poe1 (which now is also in a sour spot thanks to poe2) or even D4. After my crashout I bought Grim Dawn for £3 off GoG and actually had a more consistent offline sff experience and I dont wanna go back.
I agree that they should be much more aggressive with updates but wait till .2 comes out I guarantee you you won’t think this isn’t an EA. I think because of the numbers of players they had they were unwilling to risk a Diablo 4 first patch moment where they did too much rebalancing and piss everyone off. I disagree with their fear but I guarantee you this game will change DRAMATICALLY over the next year before release
@@pokermitten9795 I mean after you get GrimTex 400% its not a bad looking game considering its on the same engine as Titan Quest. And at least it doesn't crash all the time
The game has been in development for 5+ years. For that we have half a campaign (3 Acts out of 6) and an endgame that they threw together, AKA - No endgame. Now they are stopping POE1 development until POE2 is in a good spot... That could take years
Honeymoon period for games should be more relevant to the gaming community at this point. People's brain seem to get reset anytime a new games gets released.
POE players when you haven't played the game 1000+ hours: You haven't fully played every single part of the game, therefore your opinion is invalid. POE players when you HAVE played the game 1000+ hours: Well you got 1000+ hours of FUN out of the game, therefore you must have liked it.
lack of drop quantity, lmao, the drops are too high on juiced maps in poe 2, and then you go off showing an entire poe 1 screen that is loaded with garbage that crashes your pc, that nobody ever picks up because it is garbage, yes man, that is quality game design, to have 100000 items on a screen that are worthless and nobody ever picks up
What we have is even worse tbh, less loot drop but there all trash, do we play the same game because I don’t pick up anything from my juices maps but currency to buy my gear Lmaoo fucking trash game design it’s a farmers game not a loot finder game, I’m pretty sure I would rather have 1000 items in my screen with a loot filter that will show me what has the stats I need, but nope poe2 it’s identify and look at trash
I can agree with the endgame. However the campaign is the best arpg experience I have had. I understand luck may be involved but that first time playing through on my warrior was awesome. I was actually hard.
it reminds me the sunken city DLC in Dark Souls 2 (yes, the "bad souls"). All the chests were open. It feels like a raided ruin, like how in real life archaeologists discover a tomb, but it has been looted long ago. I liked it, feels immersive, a lived world.
I have over 25,000 hours in PoE1 and 650 hours in Poe2. Yep, there are issues with PoE2, but, I am still really enjoying it. I can see the potential and, as a base to build from, I think it's good. PoE1 wasn't the masterpiece it is now when it first launched, believe me, I was there. I have a feeling GGG will do a good job with this sequel, perhaps we should just wait and see. If the game isn't for you when 1.0 drops, then atleast PoE1 will still be there in all its glory.
PoE1 wasn't the masterpiece it is now when it first launched ok we all know this i was there at the freaking start but why abandon POE1 when poe2 is sooo not finish like cook a little remix of old seasons or something not like sweet fuck all ???????????
@@Yadeehoo believe me poe2 beta was far better than poe1 beta and even if you have all the experience from the previous game you are still not making the exact same game with the same mechanics and formula and thats what theyre going for poe2. Its better to hate and whine while ur just an ignorant clown who knows nothing.
Seriously I'm level 90 all I only die from on death effects, so many outdated designs in this game make me nuts. Identify item, go to trade, whisper to some dude ignoring you, copy maps from d2, copy all bad design options already solved in poe1 😞
I totally agree with everything you said. I only hope GGG can figure it out, but I have no idea what GGG was thinking. I want a basic loot filter to highlighted currency, sound for for drops and highlighted. I do not understand their thinking about uniques, they are so dog shit I don't care to see one drop. The characters have lost the "Exile" feel. The characters are narrristic and woke. It's going to be a while before I play it. Spot on man, spot on.
Im glad I didnt play POE1. Lets me really enjoy POE2. Loving it. Only thing i wish for is some sort of timer on the map resetting while portal is up. Huge anxiety there. Sometimes I even go back in just to reset the timer lol
I've never played PoE1 ( played D2, D3, D4, Grim Dawn). But when I was playing through this game, I felt these grievances exactly. The game actively discourages experimentation and learning. Upgrading equipment is such a pain because currency is so rare. Why would I use an exalt to roll a random line on an item when I could go on the trade system (the one that makes me leave the game, go to a game browser, whisper someone who usually doesn't respond) and get an item with most of the lines I need for one exalt. Playing SSF in this game seems like CBT. The passive tree in particular didn't feel that interesting. I was hoping the game would have cool, quirky, and eccentric nodes that would make the game more experimental and creative. I didn't see any of the sort when I played monk. The endgame is near insulting too. Losing the map when you die feels like a slap in the face, especially when half the time I die immediately and I'm not even sure why. Also, Citadels taking so long to find only for you to get limited chances to try fighting the boss? In the campaign, I was allowed to fight bosses 100 times if I wanted to. Even in Souls games I can keep trying and learning. Why is this game even more limiting? It feels like GGG thinks I'm an NPC who can sit and play this game 10 hours a day and never get frustrated. Pretty much the saving grace of the game is the combat feel, animations, and graphics which are truly setting a standard for next generation ARPGs. Other than that, I'm pretty disappointed this is what they wanted to present.
@nuj6802 man I didn't even think about mentioning trading. Having to go to another third party website just to do it is insanity, and a big reason why I don't do it. I didn't even get to endgame, I'm sure there's plenty more for me to yell about there too 😆. The passive tree is SO boring, grim dawns celestial thing is so much cooler, love that game.
@@RenegadePige you forgot to talk about the hacking of the dev acount people getting hacked and shit loll XD some people use the trading to find the rich people and hack them tooo
I highly recommend poe1, you'll find the "the cool quirky essentric nodes" as masteries, keystones, timeless jewel keystones, unique jewels etc. Decisionmaking is way more rewarding, loot drops are way more common than in poe2. Also in poe1 you don't need any trade at all, it is entirely optional and it is very possible to kill every pinnacle boss at their strongest state(uber bosses) solely on the gear you craft yourself. Currently there's 3 ways to play poe1, you can play standart, Settler's league, or Necro Settler's event. Standart: pros: Least overwhelming out of the three, but it's not like there's no content, only 1-2 less from the others. cons: Respeccing is extremely difficult as there is no gold in this gamemode. So you need to get orbs of regret, which finishing the campaign will only leave you around with around 5-10~. Settler's league: Pros: New league mechanic that is rewarding and enriches the experience, gold so you can respec easily, one extra endgame mechanic to interact with. Cons: Some of the items can turn into gold, which can slow down your progression and lower your overall loot, but you can use the gold for stuff like gambling just like in poe2 and currency exchange (although trade is kinda dead), and respeccing your skill tree early on. The mechanic could be overwhelming at first. Necro Settler's event: Pros: On top of having the same pros and cons of settler's league, every zone has extra random bonuses. Some of the bonuses are increased exp, increased rarity/quantity of items, x% chance to drop a certain currency, 40% chance for the mob pack to turn into rare monsters etc. Every hour these bonuses change for something else. You can also see which monsters are in a zone and make certain monsters more rewarding and less dangerous by switching stuff around. (for example the rare monster bonus could make a zone significantly worse if the monster pack are already strong, so you can move that bonus to a less dangerous monster pack and make the zone easier) Cons: The mob packs *can* contain mobs from Ancestor league, which have overtuned hp pools and damage early in the acts, (kaom's suicide bombers can one shot you as early as act 1).
@@Gjhfggdyyg honestly its great and super hard up to act 3. A bit frustrating but a good experience. 4 to act 6 it feels like Poe 1. Maps are weird I dont get it.
As i watch this i realize so much of it is absolutely correct . Then I remember I haven't played poe2 in a month or so. I was really excited to play from launch day but it's gotten boring. I think this video articulates the reasons I just occasionally watch videos about the game rather than jumping in myself.😢 There are many cool things about the game I like but I wasn't enjoying playing. Hope some of this stuff gets sorted out and huge thanks to RenegadePige for all the attention to detail in this awesome video : new sub here !
LE loot filter is so good, if I play a new build and the build creator put it the work for a good filter, well the filter will teach me what is good for my build. The identity scroll must be probably the worst idea in the game.
While I am happy to see the amount of work they've put in to it already where the updates they do provide are often chunky in the way of validating feedback which is provided by addressing those issues, there are three glaring faults which I can give to PoE2: 1) They're treating EA as if it's a live league and waiting on an economy reset before they make big changes to the game when this should be when they're firing out updates more frequently to get further testing and balancing. It's inefficient at best and harmful at worst where you have to wonder how much time this adds to the EA period and how much that can potentially instill a certain style of play which the developers don't want but feel like they can't touch until a reset because meta slaves will get upset. 2) As an SSF player, the crafting truly sucks. Heck, it might even suck in trade league but in SSF it's on a whole new level where the gear grind isn't from "crafting" but rather getting lucky with what the floor provides. It's absolutely insane how much baseline currencies they reduced where alterations alone are sorely missed sine they are what allowed you to build a solid foundation to work off of which is then compounded by having no work bench. 3) Many end game maps are awful. I've grown to be somewhat okay with the larger sizes but the layouts leave a lot to be desired on top of how map bosses are removed from being what triggers a map completion. If I see Mire, Sun Temple or Vaal Factory, as examples, I will absolutely detour no matter how juiced they are and how many extra maps it'll take because I just can't be bothered to do them. Unironically, the best maps in the game are the ones which are used to Towers which is another hot topic to some. Single portal sucks because it's triple punishing the player since dying removes 10% experience, your waystone is burned and the map rolls are gone. Even worse if it's something like Simulacrum and you need to go back grinding or trading. They've said the end game is pretty much rushed so I'm not losing my mind over its current state because, in spite of its flaws, it's something I can just grind in the same way I do in PoE1 but with extra hoops made of burning garbage and they've said more crafting options will be added later albeit not fully revealing the degree. All that being said though, PoE1 wasn't exactly great when it came out and over the years they revamped, overhauled and made a ton of changes so it leaves me hopeful that we'll see the same thing happen here and find a way to make both games have a healthy but different co-existence once the dust settles. They just really need to up their presence in EA to make it feel like the players are being heard rather than being feast or famine with their changes.
I loved PoE 1 and bought Early Access to PoE 2 as soon as it came out but now I wish I didn't. The game feels like watered down PoE 1 with slightly better combat and I'm glad that I'm not the only one to feel that way. I got to yellow tier maps and just couldn't keep going anymore because the gameplay is so horribly slow and unrewarding that it feels like I'm bashing my head into a concrete wall while my balls are getting crushed in a hydraulic press. It's not difficult it's just BORING. There's nothing interesting going on in maps, only time I ever see anything notable happen is when I kill a rare monster after looking for it for 5 minutes on an excessively stretched out map and maybe get an exalted orb. Crafting gear is pointless because it's no better than just picking up rare items off the floor, and worst of all you're forced into that weird semi-hardcore gameplay where dying ONCE in a map means your map is gone, any extra content and loot you didn't pick up is destroyed, you lose 10% of your exp and now have to rerun the same map with a new waystone WEAKER BEFORE YOU ENTERED IT THE FIRST TIME. Josh Strife Hayes has explained it pretty well in "Punishments in videogames" video where he says that dying in PoE 2 is so punishing that it makes you want to close the game instead of trying again, which is a massive failure in game design. PoE 1 has one of the most customizable endgame experiences i've ever seen in the ARPG genre and I could shill for the atlas system until the end of time, the fact that PoE 2 regressed so heavily from what the devs learned in PoE 1 is mind-blowing
are people that confused about the act 2 map? rax said he was stuck as well. i dont get the complication, the nodes you need to visit are literally highlighted
I played nearly all of the famous ARPGs before POE2 and I also played darksouls and elden ring. I am completely fine with the slower pace of POE2 and loving the dodge roll and that you can even raise your shield as a warrior to be able to block attacks and also splash lava in the attackers face. But right now, I m lost. My mercenary and my warrior are only level 24 and I m having a hard time because my items suck and there isn't any better loot. Rings level 8, boots level 4. Yes I got a unique frost mace and a unique shield, but everything else is garbage. The gems to turn magic into rare items are also RARE - I just have 1 at the moment. The vendors don't have anything better. I upgraded the crossbow of my merc as much as possible, but still - the rest of the gear sucks. And the crossbow reloading is damn slow. It takes ages until he fires again. Right now, its very boring stressful and tedious. There isn't any flow. Its just slow and it takes ages to kill anything.
Wait what? Regals are not rare, the game drops tons of rares and you disenchant them for regals. All I've done is play the campaign on a few different classes, and I have 100 regals.
@2:55 Whenever I'd enter a zone in these types of games, I would always walk clock-wise from the back wall 'till I complete the outer rim of the map, and then fill in the interior. Haven't missed a single quest doing that. I ALMOST missed Traitor's Passage in my first run.
They need to rework the pinnacle bosses. If your build doesn’t have the potential to dps the boss down within seconds so you don’t have to deal with the bosses mechanics, then you simply die to some one shot attack.
What this rant shows is there's no such thing as "Beta" or "Version 1.0" anymore. As soon as a game is released to the public, whether "early access" or "free to download", THAT'S IT, the game is out. The only thing that distinguishes an "update" from a "patch" is whether it triggers a new league restart. If you play hardcore, it's all the same, since your character is just as likely to get bricked by a patch as one-shotted by a boss. By far the most rewarding softcore strategy is to shelve your bricked characters till the next passive tree reset and trade up when last season's loot gets dumped into Standard.
Still better than D4. Seriously, though. I am in t15-16 maps and doing endgame bosses. Solod my sekhema trial finally, and should be in pinnacle content soon For 30 bucks and early access, this game has been worth every penny for me. And i cannot wait to play my D2 main, Werewolf Druid when it releases. I think people are just too impatient at this point and might want to try smoking a joint once a week or something.
Honestly, that was also what i thought before. I quit D4 after season3. I tried Poe 2 and liked it until i reached the end game where it got boring. Progression is all about farming currency and buying gear in trade. Crafting is non existent. Then i tried D4 season 7 and it's a blast. You can really see how much better it is compared to the current version of Poe2.
kinda disappointed by the downvotes of this video as a casual player, I agree with all these points. I never really understood why every act I am penalized with a res down debuff. the endgame becomes a consistent grind for gear with res and yet, despite how high my defenses and resistances are, bosses will still 1 hit kill you. it really doesn't make sense with some of the design choices in this game.
My channel is no stranger to downvotes lol, it is what it is. What matters is theres a lot of people like you who resonate with the video and that's what I wanted.
I'm not disappointed by the downvotes, because it's what I expected. PoE Andy's are the worst fan base, literally can't take any criticism, and to top it off they will goto other game videos and talk about how bad that game is. Meanwhile here's PoE 2 doing a lot of the exact things they called bad in another game, but cuz it's PoE it's good and just a player skill issue or some other cope statement
Drawbacks on gems also goes back on a design choice they focused on years ago, maybe a whole decade. Players should not be incentivized to swap gems for different content. But I had to remove my "+damage against full life +reduced duration" gem before bosses playing essence drain because that's super cool right?
So I'm someone that enjoys ARPGS, and have been exploring into the genre more deeply over the last year, and effectively since Diablo 4's release. I stopped playing that because it felt like I couldn't really build or get creative with things, and I thought this game was different until i got into act 2. I get into act 2 with multiple characters(i like trying out multiple classes) and I get my first character to ascendency, and knowing that I'm not the best at building purely from my own, I look online to see what other people have made or created. And it just feels so small and minimal, and has actually kinda put a damper on my desire to play the game more, because I know that realistically I have like 2 options for builds now that i've chosen an ascendency. Also game does feel slow i agree.
I'm just going to say that no matter what anyone thinks about your opinion on this subject....this video is top tier production and the outro song is hilariously awesome.
Damn, the only honest poe related channel I've seen so far. All those glaring problems being presented in a straight no nonsense manner unlike the usual suspect channels who try to find a way to not piss off the player base that is obviously fed up by this point, but also still want to stay on the good side of GGG. The even worse thing is that in addition to the problems this video highlights there are tons more problems that are plaguing the game. At this point I believe that the 4chan leak was right.
Thank you ! as a new player ive been talking about "crafting" since day one! thank you for pointing this out, seems like ggg fans dont like to see this, but crafting does not exist, this is just you roll and pray!
12:50 Stun threshold is actually very useful in endgame when you’re constantly getting swarmed. Used to think it was useless too after listening to all the RUclipsrs claiming it was trash. Only to realize at level 84 endgame I couldn’t progress to T12+ without a fat stun threshold. Now I get excited when I see that stat because I know how important it is
@@Fuzzy4650 energy shield build dont need it cuz you just take one skill that boosts it depend on amount of energy shield you got evasion build you dont need it cuz they cant land an attack on you so self explanatory shield build no need cuz you just block attacks the only place i would use it mby i dont know is with thorn build , so yea its shit mane... yea im(lvl97)btw
you just need a single stun charm and you're safe, or are you arguing that a charm slot is worth more than getting multiple stun threshholds on multiple items?
Bro I totally agree. I can’t play anymore or fake it definitely nothing like the game that drew me in . Everything is forced builds skills and passive tree no real choices.. it has positive but too many negative especially loot drop & unique items are ass
POE1 did not do everything better than POE2. The main reason POE2 is being made is that POE1 has devolved into something resembling Vampire Survivors. In fact, POE1 might feature some of the worst design elements I’ve encountered in an ARPG-so much so that I no longer consider it one. Forcing players to build characters that operate almost entirely on autopilot is poor design and arguably ceases to feel like a video game at all. By contrast, POE2 has done a lot correctly (except end game, but we knew it was a place holder), and I’m genuinely excited for the next patch... my only frustration is that it’s not out yet. POE1 is fine as it is, and it should remain the “break the game” experience it’s known for. However, many of us want a different kind of ARPG that’s actually fun to play, with the depth GGG can deliver.
i can see your point and understand your frustration. I tried to get into POE1 and frankly it too convoluted and bloated with content that it simply turned me off for the amount of time that I have to try and pick it up at this point. I'm sure its amazing but I know I'm not the only one that am looking for an ARPG that sits in between Diablo 4 and POE1. D4 is dog shit and I felt like I needed a PhD to get anywhere in POE1. POE2 was easy to pick up and I personally have a lot of fun. I bounce a lot between genres and like just enough complexity to keep me engaged for a few hours then maybe not pick it up for a few days cause I'm Playing Helldivers or Squad or Rimworld. 10/10 for early access neutered garbage I guess... also its early access there is a lot of time to port ideas from POE1 into POE2 to polish it hopefully these issue get ironed out
I've had the exact same thoughts mostly, i quit after reaching maps before the first patch, im still waiting for a patch that excites me enough to come back to it.
You forgot that now gems are forced on only 1 type of weapon, in poe 1 you are more likely to use a weapon depending on what build you play but you have the option to use another weapon that is not that optimal but you want to do it... for example i want to use a 2h weapon or a dagger for flicker strike or a claw, now you are forced to use a damn staff
nah the elemental resistances are way better than poe1, you only lose like 10% at the end of every act while also getting permanent buffs to resistances from events plus it doesn't nerf your chaos resist anymore, you end up needing like 3 pieces with elemental resistances to cap them or even 2 if you get lucky or buy something with +20% resistances to all 3, and honestly you don't even need them until like tier 5 maps
8:00 i have to disagree completly. not only are items with the runes fairly easy to actually make yourself with artificers orb (which u get by salvaging a item with a socket at the crafting bench). You also get more than enough runes itself to actually increase your power lvl by a whole lot. (unless u use runes on every item thats trash, then sure u dont have enough runes to actually have a higher power lvl)
quest... go to the wall / gate.... you go to the map, travel there.... walk 20 feet and "we can't get through" and then walk 20 feet back....and travel somewhere else... like wtf.. did i need to use the travel mechanic twice for that ? I hate coming to this game with a loot brain from other games.... orange drop (be prepared for disapointment) .... yellow chest (be prepared for disapointment)
It's interesting to hear someone call himself POE veteran and saying he doesnt actually play endgame. Don't take this as an insult it just is interesting. Most of the issues you have are selfinflicted to be honest.
This game is in early access, and it feels it. It will be better. It has a long way to go. The worst thing so far is the spread of currency drops, the crafting, and the horrible map designs. Luckily, those are all easily solved. Also, people think this is PoE II, its not it's PoE vs Diablo II. It's clear that they want it to be like Diablo II with PoE elements thrown in.
What are you talking about? As far as sockets goes you can put sockets in any piece of gear so we don’t really care if something is already socked. Your socketed argument makes no sense. No one cares empathetic out too if something already has a socket in it because we have a bank with orbs that add sockets and it’s not like you can have extra sockets if an item already has a socket on it. You’re still limited unless you corrupted.
Lol, so many truths in just one vid. Honestly speaking, I got bored in less than a week of the game already. Mapping is the worst shit I've ever seen, the layouts are so frustrating, plus that whatever big map of choices is so much worse than the Atlas, why not keep one of the best designs of PoE1. So far the most fun I've had was act 1, that is 100% cool, discovering the skills and looking into the gems that can combo etc... I liked the idea of things having combos, and they added a special use for the second weapon slot, but tbh, just remove it, it's completely useless as of now. I think, and hope, that they're trying to as fast as possible add all of the classes into the game, with all the items, and then think about mixing those, and balancing stuff. But now they need urgently fix the maps layouts, and that crappy endgame progression should be thrown away in favour of the old atlas, or a proper evolution of the old atlas. And honestly, like you said, pickup a design from 99, like identifying items, and still annoyingly decide that is valuable, and keep it ? Or worse, add that fucking WELL which is even worse. I mean this was supposed to be a company that's experienced in maintaining a successful small, but amazing ARPG for 10+ years. And they're doing so many idiot decisions that get me thinking on how bad the new PoE2 design team is, or how stubborn their leaders are. Wtf is the crafting system, wtf is the mapping system, things like charges, rage, and keystones are so bad atm too...
There's not a damned thing in this video that I disagree with. Well said brother, well said. 3000 hours poe 240 hours poe2 Playing poe right now watching your video
dude i got hit with the comet nerf at start day after that im like ok my toon is brick the gold cost for respect was still not nerf i swap character level the 2 campaing get to maps and im like this is the endgame its sooooo boring alt f4 did not play after that.
Totally agree with 99% of this video I dont see myself going back unless they do major sweeping overhauls One of the biggest issues is their goal to force loot to be even more rng and trade reliant than poe1 was. As a summoner the only "crafting" i have is slamming alchs or going on trade (because the only stat that matters is +minion skills which is conpletely rng) Edit: its also funny that a lot of your criticisms are things d4 is working on addressing, and is actually pretty fun now (still nowhere near poe1, but i prefer it over poe2)
Agree'd , it is very bad and so sad. I'm playing Diablo 4 and loving it . This is a GREAT video , well done. PS: TENCENT owns GGG and they harbour criminals. Look it up. It's even on youtube [music stolen.
D4 has its issues but man I'm a sucker for Dancing Knives Rogue builds, just something about zooming and one shotting everything at max speed is so nice.
@@RenegadePige Oh you like D4 that makes sense. Actually hilarious you can critique PoE2 with your vapid budget Ben energy, but it makes sense now. Wojack content creator. Please keep playing D4.
Very much agree with most of your points here. GGG fanbois should stop giving Poe2 a pass just coz it's an early access game. This game felt like it was patterned for D2 fans and made to be released 20 yrs ago. Identify items to decard cain, light radius, seriously? Oh wait they innovated something, you can now get your current best gear by checking the vendors 😅
Yeah I was finished with this vid at spending more time in PoB than in PoE. Also, the second game is in early access, yet it looks awesome, sounds amazing and it's a very promising game. Spoilers: it's not finished yet :) It's delusional to say it's in a bad state now considering the isometric hack'n'slash aRPGames market rn.
Ain't no way this guy's example of "innovative game-breaking build" that pushes the boundaries is RF, a skill that by default sets things on fire in an AOE combined with one pair of boots that explode things that are on fire when they die. The video is filled with these weird comparisons, like poe's screen cluttered garbage drop loot piles somehow being good for the game, equating runes (which by the end of the campaign you'll have multiple stacks of each rune and more artificer's orbs than you know what to do with) to needing to 3 and 4 link items while leveling with much more scarce and RNG-based jeweler/fusing orbs, not to mention complaining about people using vendors during the campaign when literally every experienced poe1 player is constantly checking vendors early for the correct socket/link/color combination gear, MS boots, and rings anyway. Magic find has also been pretty exhaustively tested to be much less impactful than what everyone had thought early on, to the point where fitting a couple of affixes in your gear to get to like, 30-50% will get you most of the increased useful currency drop rate before rarity hits diminishing returns. Just like in poe1, rarity < killing more harder stuff until you're already one-shotting everything anyway. The only legitimate takes you have in the video aren't even original despite you saying "I'm keeping it real unlike everyone else who wants to handwave away issues" as if map layouts, lack of crafting, and poor endgame flow isn't something every single poe creator have discussed at length for the last month.
@blackomega34 RF has been used as a primary skill since the beginning of POE, one of the first well known builds was an RF build that abused snapshotting over 10 years ago
The POE2 new player leveling experience is sociopathic abuse, especially if you use a class that uses the useless base armour stat. Most of the passive skill tree is only viable during the campaign when you have no skill points to spend. Gaining levels should be way more heavily front loaded. Most players will never accumulate the currency to finish a single ascendancy on a single character. Half of the ascendancies have backwards nodes with no choice or the illusion of choice. Most classes only have ONE way to scale damage in the end game. There is no build diversity. Crafting is dogshit. Trading is dogshit. Magic find and light radius needs to be entirely divorced from gear. I discovered the useless unique's are fun for leveling a new character. I like charms, you can see them procing now. BUT there are not enough 2 or 3 charm slot belts. I use them to fix my resistances, or whatever annoys me most.
There’s a pattern here. Bigger channels (100k+ subs) are falling all over themselves to fellate PoE2, while smaller channels like this are much more critical.
Jonathan wants you to play the game how he wants to play the game but not anything different... at this point they might as well delete the skill tree and just do generic classes with their own skill trees since its no longer about creating interesting builds, its about playing the way jonathan wants it to be played.
From a person who played Poe 1 for a bit and coming from d4 I think Poe 1 is a fantastic game overall. However Poe 2 has its issue for sure but as a newer player I enjoy Poe 2 more just because I can’t sink thousands of hours into a game anymore.
I just fkn hate teleporting back to town frequently just to identify shit and check vendors. Those loading time really adds up. Then one day I just stopped playing the game. Lets hope when its finally out from "early access" or whatever that shit is its gonna be good.
Just started watching the review but as a Poe 2 player who just started playing Poe 1 and I’m hearing you upset about finding a quest in act 2 cruel while I’m in act 2 Poe 1 and cannot figure out which quest I’m supposed to be doing or where literally any quest that I have is supposed to be located..loving it aside from that tho.
Finally someone making sense of the crap in POE 2. And be thankful you haven’t made it to Endgame. It’s horrendous. +100 and thanks for stating the obvious the other creators won’t push back on. And now no more new leagues for POE….. that pisses me off. Thank you for an excellent honest reaction.
As someone who has played a LOT of seasons and loves POE1. Your take on POE2 is kind of funny. I def like poe1 better but POE 2 is still really good! POE2 is way more casual. In poe2 i am able to destroy any endgame boss when in poe 1 i still am yet to beat the entire game. I didn't run into alot of your issues. Loot is slow at first but i always was able to upgrade as i went. Also seems like you picked an odd slow build and had no run speed on your boots lol. Some of your issues are legit like the map designs. But those things weren't enough for me to not really like poe 2. Also i went for a stat build (700 int) with ES and mind over matter with arcane surge. So the only option isn't damage. I agree with charms! Just remember a lot of your issues is just because poe2 is too casual for you. I think it's meant to compete with the casual dad players of Diablo 4 while still have some good things from poe 1.
From my experience getting new people in PoE 2 is lightyears easier than PoE 1, that said most of my friends who I gave keys to only finished Act 2 normal then stopped playing. Personally I don't get the vision of PoE 2, I'm 225 hours in with a level 95 Stormweaver, tried all the classes, got to maps with all of them and decided to stick with Spark as it doesn't blind me every time I clear a pack of mobs. After watching Ben's take on the situation and went back to PoE 1 and just had loads of fun blasting, then gambling the profits I made in 10 hours even with the horrendous rates the currency exchange is at... If they add the mounts they promised, I think the backtracking won't be an issue, however the map layouts are horrible in the endgame and in Act 3. The click the Well, the 3 to 1 crafting and identification needs to go. Diablo 2 in the current era of ARPGs is trash, and many of it's mechanics that PoE 2 is relying are as well. I also want to see a better trading system, I'm intentionally switching them off when I just want to play the game, this puts me way behind the curve of other players, but it's so annoying when I'm in a fight, suddenly I get distracted and lose the map + the loot + the XP + the map bonus. I appreciate when game designers stick to their ground and commit to keeping certain things how they are, but we are missing out on QoL features that should be mandatory for modern game design. We already auto pick up gold, why can't we do it with Breach splinters as well? Currency trading is on the auction house, why can't we put items on it? You could be just selecting an option on the trade website to yank the item from a listing and paying the currency for it from your inventory or stash. At leas this is (hopefully) the worst state PoE 2 will be in, I wish they would have left the game in the oven for a year, or done incremental closed early access testing, so they could have reworked the endgame, we would be in a much better state for open early access. By not having map/ waystone affinity in stash, then sorting out your maps that you can run + the ones that are rolled with high IIR an IIQ + sorting out your loot on top of that takes ages. I much rather prefer farming enough currency that I know I could craft a specific item at least 5 times and try different crating methods to get the best odds of crafting that item. This picking every single tiered rare item up and hope it has the +5 level stat, otherwise hope for the 3-1 crafting reforging the item with that stat is just painful and annoying af. The lack of ways to get damage on gear would deserve a paragraph as well. If it doesn't have the +5 level mod, the item is trash. Same with IIR on the other parts of the gear.
This, is exactly whats wrong with gamers now a days. "This isn't a review of what PoE 2 will be, or could be, or the potential it has; because they probably will fix everything that's wrong. It's a review of how the game is, right now, while it's basically in BETA. IT IS BAD." And I would be willing to bet, that there will be at least a few people who haven't gotten this game, who's been considering it, who will just read the title, and immediately write the game off. It's stupid as shit. You are literally just hurting the one thing that you claim to care about, instead of just giving actual criticism. I don't get it.... It's literally common sense....
I honestly have no idea how someone couldn't agree with everything or at least most of what was said. Also my god, it's been a while since i uninstalled but holy shit does your gameplay look slow. I didn't remember it being that slow but it makes sense since i remember constantly checking vendors for movement speed items. I thought i overreacted and the game just wasn't for me since i didn't even manage to finish the campaign with how bored and annoyed i was (+ i had watched streams and talked to friends so i knew what i hated would get worse further into and after campaign anyways) but it's funny and interesting to see more and more people come out and say the exact same things as me.
Your vendor argument is objectively wrong. Vendors been selling good items in D2 and Torchlight 2 for 20 years. Its 100% part of the arpg experience. In PoE 2 case you still need to manage your gold or else you cant buy gg vendor items, so there is still some risk of missing out. The ID scrolls should be for unique items only because of economic reasons, but i agree all blue and yellow should not be UNID. There are a bunch of uniques that are super good for leveling and a handful that are good for endgame and a few that are super chase. They need work but it's not as bad as you make it seem, especially once you make alts and use the low items. The rest of your arguments I agree with and I think it can all be traced back to tencent looking to cash in.
There is so much true in this video. I thought I must be crazy as I dropped this game like a bad habit after trying for more hours than it deserved to love this game. Please do another PoE 1 season, GGG. Give me something to love.
Yes, PoE2 mediocre. However so is this video. It highlights that one can have thousands of hours in ARPGs and even PoE1 specifically and still be a bit clueless. - Sockets: no, they did not reintroduce the same problems the original game had, wtf are you on about. - Items: most item drops (>99%) in the original game were useless. This new system is not yet fleshed out, but the idea: far fewer, but better items, is a good one. - "I run out of runes". You're talking about Iron runes - nothing but an SSF problem. In PoE1, you'd run out of GCPs and Glassblower's. - Confusing armour, the defensive stat and armour, the item group. I am unable to can, certified bruh moment. These were the bad parts, I don't have much against the rest.
You are gonna get hate but it was refreshing to see someone dig into a game I love instead of pretending it doesn't have issues. Glad this somehow made it to my feed.
You got some points, lack of build diversity for example, or the 3º party tools needed to play. But Other have no sense, like sockets. If you find a good item you can put sockets on it, so i dont understand whats the problem here. And dont forget we only have half of the game. Half of the classes, items, skills... Maybe you shouldn't play an early Access if you are expecting having all the content from day one. There is a big difference in "it will be good, eventually" and "it will be COMPLETE" . And for sure they are reserving some mechanics to future leagues, like the crafting; but at least you should wait to the game is COMPLETE to complain about of it. Then it will be a fair complain. There are some things Poe did better then Poe2. But for me Poe was a 90% a stat check(at least the campaign), and in Poe2 you actually have to play (at least until you got one the few broken/viable builds) Being reasonable, the game is actually much more baked then most other early access.

Can confirm not AI. My hubby is jealous of his voice.
i like how the only update they have rolled out for poe2 is checkpoints, removing skill combos, and nerfing uniques, like lmao the game doesnt have much as is
Can you rerelease the song as seperate video? Its a banger. Without Ghazy.

Alt orbs is somehow the saving grace of PoE1. PoE2 is just simply bad in terms of gearing and grind
"if they didn't forget about it"
Holy shit the timing.
about sockets and runes: you don't necessarily NEED to FIND equipment that has runes. You can use Artificers orbs to increase sockets on equimpent. The drop fairly frequently.
Especially if you’ve been grabbing every white with a socket since act 1
I'll admit, my argument about the runes is my weakest argument in the video. I think overall I just got really unlucky with rune drops and artificer orbs and I was probably using them like an idiot. I'll die on the hill of my other arguments, the runes...not so much.
@@RenegadePigeyou could never run out of artificer orb if you pick up item with run socket and break it for shards.
What is fairly frequently? At around level 20-40 i can get maybe 1 in around 1-2 hours? For sure not frequent enough for me
@@jaeger2278 artificer orbs do not drop frequently in campaign, but runes and sockets aren't even close to necessary during campaign. They drop more frequently in endgame, which is the only time where runes matter
In general, most orbs are formed by scrapping unneeded socketed item drops to turn into orbs.
Can we also complain about how in act 3 you have to portal then take a gateway back to the vendors then go back in the gateway then your portal
Like what why
omg that stupid gateway drives me mad!! Very cool concept, but the fact that they're different maps but the ONLY way to get between them is the stupid gateway like omg just make it it's own map PLEASE. And like you said, there's no vendors omg I forgot how frustrating that was 😂
b/c POE devs love to make things as complicated and tedious as possible
Ok but why Outro song is such a Banger?
i enjoy PoE2, but despite that. pretty much all the criticisms here are totally valid.
notice hows he's complaining about runes and sockets, but walks by the item at 8:04 that can get you more sockets xD
True
The last 2 zones in act 3 where you have to climb that stupid pyramid and find the boss take so long it’s awful
The lack of good loot is my main problem im still enjoying the game but I’ve been using the same crossbow for 30 levels
use currency orbs on crossbows that you find on the ground.
@@Grisu. I have done that since day one and not one of those items has been better than random drops. Legit thousands of orbs.

Bro made a whole 30 minute video about the level 58 experience
LOL right!?
will make a 3hour about the endgame if he gets there
19:37 This is the best example why average player suffers in PoE. You think you can get strong enough to do content by seeing what is closer to your side of the passive tree, but in reality, all you need to do is travelling around and get most jewel slots as possible and stack something like attributes. And only a few skill gems (like 5% actually works, while other do no dmg to endgame content bosses (20 million hp+ wich implies at least 150k dps to kill the bosses slowly))
Imagine a word where you are free to do these passive tree traveling, but at the same time, doing a build by using only your side of the tree, and at the same time 80% of the skill gems are actually viable.
"Just wait 10 years and POE 2 will be good finally."
As someone relatively new to modern ARPGs (last one I spent any time on was Torchlight 2) I have completely bounced off poe2 after 300h, I feel like they intentionally made design decisions on either propping up their shitty 3rd party trade site (the fact that people would willingly play SSF in this game is crazy to me) or going "hey guys, remember D2"
People responding with "its EA! they'll fix it" don't seem to recognise or admit that GGG aren't treating the game as EA, like why do I have to wait for a new league start to actually make Chonk playable, or for them to make drastic balance changes, "oh we don't want to upset people who have invested time into a character build just for them to loose it" while everyone else decides to go back to poe1 (which now is also in a sour spot thanks to poe2) or even D4.
@MrMetFanSC im not talking about your damn word here met fan. They need to action these changes now
If only Grim Dawn wasn't the ugliest Arpg on the market, I would play it too.

Its a huge feels bad when you get a godly item for your build but it has the wrong resist. Oh ill just change it on the crafting.....bench......wait

Throughout the campaign drops are dogshit. And in the endgame you use loot filters for both games anyhow, this point doesn't make much sense.
I can agree with the endgame. However the campaign is the best arpg experience I have had. I understand luck may be involved but that first time playing through on my warrior was awesome. I was actually hard.
Fully agree
Sad thing about this, there are legitimately some PoE andys that will say his 2k hours in PoE isnt enough for him to have a valid opinion
This gameplay footage did a good enough job of invalidating his opinion on its own
"I should call my mom" 😂 love the crafting thought process
Did you make the song then the video or the other way around haha.

it reminds me the sunken city DLC in Dark Souls 2 (yes, the "bad souls"). All the chests were open. It feels like a raided ruin, like how in real life archaeologists discover a tomb, but it has been looted long ago. I liked it, feels immersive, a lived world.
@eloyrey2338 a lived in world where there are no humans in the span of 10000 maps...oh besides your expedition homies

They should replace cluster jewels with radius jewels that add things to other passives so jewels don't undermine the passive tree itself.
Uhh that's so weird. "I'm glad I never played that awesome game so I can have fun playing an objectively inferior game."
@alexw.2988 you jelly :)
Give poe 1 a try, you might love it
@@RenegadePige you forgot to talk about the hacking of the dev acount people getting hacked and shit loll XD some people use the trading to find the rich people and hack them tooo
Standart:
pros: Least overwhelming out of the three, but it's not like there's no content, only 1-2 less from the others.
cons: Respeccing is extremely difficult as there is no gold in this gamemode. So you need to get orbs of regret, which finishing the campaign will only leave you around with around 5-10~.
Settler's league:
Pros: New league mechanic that is rewarding and enriches the experience, gold so you can respec easily, one extra endgame mechanic to interact with.
Necro Settler's event:
Pros: On top of having the same pros and cons of settler's league, every zone has extra random bonuses. (for example the rare monster bonus could make a zone significantly worse if the monster pack are already strong, so you can move that bonus to a less dangerous monster pack and make the zone easier)
Cons: The mob packs *can* contain mobs from Ancestor league, which have overtuned hp pools and damage early in the acts, (kaom's suicide bombers can one shot you as early as act 1).

LE loot filter is so good, if I play a new build and the build creator put it the work for a good filter, well the filter will teach me what is good for my build.
The identity scroll must be probably the worst idea in the game.
While I am happy to see the amount of work they've put in to it already where the updates they do provide are often chunky in the way of validating feedback which is provided by addressing those issues, there are three glaring faults which I can give to PoE2:
1) They're treating EA as if it's a live league and waiting on an economy reset before they make big changes to the game when this should be when they're firing out updates more frequently to get further testing and balancing.

"Haven't played since the patch"
All you need to know about the credibility of this creator.
No ground breaking changes in this patch it was very minor
What in the patch addressed any of the criticisms being made here?
@2:55 Whenever I'd enter a zone in these types of games, I would always walk clock-wise from the back wall 'till I complete the outer rim of the map, and then fill in the interior. Haven't missed a single quest doing that. I ALMOST missed Traitor's Passage in my first run.
When do we get the song in is solo video? Its a banger.
Solod my sekhema trial finally, and should be in pinnacle content soon
For 30 bucks and early access, this game has been worth every penny for me.
@@jonathankaede1767 Yea I never thought I would say this, but I as well actually enjoyed D4 then poe 2(is bad)
kinda disappointed by the downvotes of this video
as a casual player, I agree with all these points.
If the bosses are one shotting you regardless of resistances shouldn’t you stop farming resistances

They 100% created Poe 1 by accident.
One of the best accidents ever btw

Holy shit finally someone said it!
The crafting bit was so good, awesome video and great edits. Funny and some good points on top.
I’m actually really happy to see members from the PoE community jumping down this his throat for spitting some truthful bars

Totally agree with 99% of this video
I dont see myself going back unless they do major sweeping overhauls
One of the biggest issues is their goal to force loot to be even more rng and trade reliant than poe1 was. As a summoner the only "crafting" i have is slamming alchs or going on trade (because the only stat that matters is +minion skills which is conpletely rng)
Edit: its also funny that a lot of your criticisms are things d4 is working on addressing, and is actually pretty fun now (still nowhere near poe1, but i prefer it over poe2)

RF was a niche buff skill and not intended to be a dps skill once upon a time.
@blackomega34 RF has been used as a primary skill since the beginning of POE, one of the first well known builds was an RF build that abused snapshotting over 10 years ago
Did you try the new d4 season
Why do the passive tree nodes have so many downsides and just miniscule bonuses like 4% ms. I really don't under stand the logic here.
What if you get a power where you don't need to reload
I hope ghazzy reacting to this :D Awesome video man, hopefully at some point PoE2 will be as good as PoE. Cheers!
I just fkn hate teleporting back to town frequently just to identify shit and check vendors. Those loading time really adds up. Then one day I just stopped playing the game. Lets hope when its finally out from "early access" or whatever that shit is its gonna be good.
Just started watching the review but as a Poe 2 player who just started playing Poe 1 and I’m hearing you upset about finding a quest in act 2 cruel while I’m in act 2 Poe 1 and cannot figure out which quest I’m supposed to be doing or where literally any quest that I have is supposed to be located..loving it aside from that tho.
oh poe1's questing is TERRIBLE, I won't defend that 😂 Act 2 with the bandits and the pieces you have to get to open the vines, it's a mess!
@ that’s where I’m at right now! 😂 finished the video and agree with everything else!
Dunking on a Early Access (aka BETA) product that shits over its nearest competition that is up to its 7th season... you legend.
Thank you travisk for being an awesome dude! And dont worry, new leagues for poe1 will happen....maybe 8 months from now, but they'll happen!
Renegade, you're not wrong about many of these P02 issues. I lost interest in the game awhile back.
IT IS BAD."
And I would be willing to bet, that there will be at least a few people who haven't gotten this game, who's been considering it, who will just read the title, and immediately write the game off.
My favourite part of Poe 2 is the permanent temp chains
Oh yeah so refreshing, not like every single arpg content creator is rehashing this take
You got some points, lack of build diversity for example, or the 3º party tools needed to play.
But for me Poe was a 90% a stat check(at least the campaign), and in Poe2 you actually have to play (at least until you got one the few broken/viable builds)
Being reasonable, the game is actually much more baked then most other early access.
