  • We spend a few weeks at a cozy beach village just outside Rome called Ostia. A perfect mix to be able to go in to Rome with the train 30 minutes and see all the sites but also be able to enjoy the beach during the hot days.
We really recommend to stay here a couple of days and just enjoy the Italian coast.

That's my home town. Ostia Lido is FULL of FANTASTIC restaurants not only along the beach but in the main plaza too. It's an 8 mins drive from Fiumicino airport and Rome centre (Colosseum) is only 30 mins away! You didn't mention Ostia Antica famous for its well-preserved Roman city, better than Pompeii...

We loved your home town and we will definitely come back. This time we mainly worked and didn't have time to visit the Roman City but we save it for next time 🙂.

Next time try Nettuno. It's one hour from Termini-Rome by train. Very small town, you can walk everywhere, don't need taxis. The beach is beautiful too. you take the train from Fiumichino to Termini and then Termini to Nettuno. The prices might be more favorable too.

We mainly worked this time and prioritized going in to Rome at our free time. It was really convenient to take the train in to Rome and there you have so many things to do. However, we loved the beach and the beach walk in Ostia. They have a cute city center with some cool bars and restaurants. We got recommendation that we should have went to the Roman city but we didn't have the time this trip. So if you go, let us know how it was! 😊
