////Instructions
Sleeves Shrug
One Size fits most.
3 Lion Brand Homespun, 6oz. each. or 16 oz. of any other #5 (bulky) weight yarn.
Size 9 (short or long) and 11 (long) knitting needles.
The whole piece measures 60” long. From beginning to end. Please measure yourself
and adjust accordingly.
Cast on 35 stitches.
With #9 knitting needles, cast on and work 10 rows of k1,p1 ribbing.
Change to size 11 needles and make to double seed stitch.
Multiple of 2 + 1
1st Row.- K1 p1, k1
2nd Row.- P1 k1, p1
3.- Same as 2nd. Row
4.- Same as 1st. Row.
• Knitted Seed / Moss St...
Add 1 stitch on each side on rows 1, 5, 9, 13, 17, 21, 25, 29, 33, 37, 41, 45, 49 and 53.
Now you will have 63 stitches.
Measure how many inches this gives you, Mine measured 17”.
• Video
I will need the same for the taking off and ribbing of the other sleeve.
That means I need to knit 26” for the middle part.
17” + 26” + 17” = 60”
Continue with Double Seed Stitch for the 26”
We will start counting rows from now to the beginning of the ribbing.
Start decreasing 1 stitch on each side on rows:
1, 5, 9, 13, 17, 21, 25, 29, 33, 37, 41, 45, 49 and 53.
Change to #9 needles and make 10 rows of k1, p1 ribbing.
Bind off.
Leave long tail about (24”) and cut yarn
Sew up about 16” from each sleeve.

I made a full sweater with this very same yarn over 20 years ago, and it still looks great, and I made an oversized baby blanket too, that has been with the young lady from crib to law school, and resides on her couch to this very day. I recommend it to anyone who is knitting something special, especially if it's a project for yourself. We hardly ever take the time to reward ourselves. So treat yourself, you deserve it!
Very pretty and excellent tutorial. Starting this tonight.
Thanks you for watching shrug I do not know how to do it well.I happy for your hard work. Thanks.
I almost cried when i saw you were doing this with straight needles... i HATE circular needles, they just don't feel right....Thank you so much!!!
Aweee. Glad we could help. We prefer flat knitting too.
Thank you, THANK you, Thank you.
Thanks, I just made this and I love it 🥰
A masterpiece 👏👏👏🤗🤗 thank u lady 👍
Love this, thanks.
I am curious, can you tell me why you are increasing at the end of the row in the second to last stitch. Thank you.
Yes. I increase in the second to last stitch because I don't like the "bump" it leaves if I do it on the last stitch. I like smooth edges.
Love this Beautiful !!!!
Would like to do this one
Thank you Gracias
Shld have shown the full pic in the end or beginnng.
very beautiful
Can you give me the metric equivalent and UK /European needle size please.
Can you show a photo of the finish product....how does it look on a person? Thanks
There are photos. Please look them up.
Did you stitch the whole arm? Or like 3/4th of the arm. I have already made one for a lady, I crocheted it, but it was short, the video of the lady didn't explain any stitches, just measurements, she said crochet a ribbing, and make the middle & then the arm. It was a quick 3 minute video. Since I am not keen on crocheting anyway, I always keep coming back to your videos, I made the thumb gusset, (my favourite) I keep coming back to your detailed videos. So I have undone tge whole crocheted one, & going to knit. I have left the last row where I chained up the length of it, its about 3" short, I'll make it bigger for the lady so that she's not struggling with the tightness if it. Could you please advise on this one where you have stopped sewing the arm? Normal sweaters arms are stitched all the way till the underarm. Yours seems like 3/4th of the arm length. Thanks 💗💗💗💗💖💖💖💖
Yes, true. We didn't stitch all the way to the underarm. It is about 3/4 of the way so you don't struggle putting it on.
Thank you & also thank you for all your AMAZING tutorials, I am about to attempt your double sided knitting. I am doing a cushion for my besties cat.
Love it!! Can you send me that piece? Lol... Would or be one size fit all?
+Denise M Gokey LOL Yes, one size fits most! Easy to make!!!
Also, the color that comes up in Amazon is Tanzanite, which seems to look nothing like your shrug. What does your label say it is?
Hi Kathy. It's painted desert. :) Enjoy the project!
I bought that yarn many years ago and no longer have the tags. Sorry.
Hi can you show how to decrease?
Decrease by knitting 2 together (2nd and 3rd) and the 2 before last.
Do you sale this pattern?
No. It's free. here is the link ruclips.net/video/nZPi2ATtr7Y/видео.html
How many rows did you knit before you added a stich at each end
You start adding on row 1 after the ribbing.
The written instructions are below the video, on "show more"
JoannesWeb but yours looks longer befor u added it does looked right
How could I make this with size7.5mm needles
Make a swatch to see how many stitches you need for the with of your shrug. Also for the sleeves. This way you know how much to add and take off with smaller needles.
Qué manera tan enredada de tejer, es muy confuso.
What needle size you using? Thanks for this video, very informative
+Agata Czajkowski
Size 9 for ribbing, and 11's for body. Homespun is a #5 yarn (bulky).
+Agata Czajkowski Size 9 and 11 US needles. Please see "Show more" at the bottom of the video.

I've seen this called a "Knitted Nightingale" in an old Paton's Knitting book
