Here's how I try on hair toppers, without voiding return policies! A great way to figure out what toppers work for your hair loss - Let me know if you think this one works for me!
That is a lovely colour on you! I am new to world of toppers. I have thin hair and just looking to bulk out. However, I thought that a topper had to match the length of your own hair? And I assumed that if I wanted longer hair, I'd have to use a full wig? Can you advise please? If you kept that topper, hpw would you treat your bio hair? Thank you.
If a topper has great full coverage and my hair blends in with the shading I don’t mind the lengths not matching... but, the different lengths will show sometimes. If that’s a deal breaker for the look you’re going for definitely stick to a wig! I did not end up keeping this topper only because the shade is on the cooler side and it didn’t work with my personal skin tone. It was a gorgeous topper though! I will probably get it in just a different shade!
If you have a thick, full coverage topper you can definitely go longer. I did end up returning it because the color just didn’t work with my hair so it didn’t blend well... but if you get a color similar to your bio hair, or dye your hair to match, it just melts into the topper and you hardly notice the difference! Kind of like when you wear extensions and you can see that your hair ends and but it just has a seamless transition 💕❤️💕
@@TheWiggyWoman Jon Renau color chart actually lists Shaded Mocha as being a warm color. I guess this is because of the golden highlights- though the base is ash dark blonde. I’m nervous now, have one on the way and thought that this color is THE ONE!😕
This is so timely for me! I mean, I just last night decided I would try a topper before a wig! I’m so glad I subscribed to your channel! Thanks for the help! ❤️ and until you took it off, I wondered if you had one on already! Could not tell!
Yay!! I am so glad that you are subscribing too! If there's anything else that can help you in your Journey let me know and I'd be happy to put something together for you 💕❤💕
I ended up returning her 😰... I LOVED The topper, and the fibers... but, I have a warmer skin tone and the Shaded Mocha is a bit cooler/ashier than I am used to and I felt like it was at odds with my skin a little. Not Shaded Mocha's fault... but I WILL get another one eventually in a warmer tone!
I actually measure the area that my hair is thinning, where I want to cover, and then add an inch so that there's room for the clips to go into healthy hair!
When buying a topper, how do you know if you can wear it with a side part? What do I need to look for in a topper that will let me know it can be worn with a side part? A lot of the toppers I’ve looked at all have middle parts. Thank you!
Look for a topper that has either full mono filament, or full double monofilament! Toppers like Top Smart can all be parted anywhere because the base is all lace!
I just bought the synthetic one but can't get the lace to lay flat, whatever I do it is lifted and not laying flat like in videos I have watched, I am so disappointed as it was the lace front that convinced me to get this one
Toppers are a little trickier to get to lay flat because they don't have the tension of your full head. Once you have the topper on, then go back and re-adjust the clips to add more tension (but not so much it rips your hair out!) and try to stretch that front out a little more. Especially when toppers are new and haven't broken in to my head shape I use adhesives like Got2B Glued to help hold it down because I never want my lace lifting. Just adding adhesive will do wonders to keep it flat.
Whether I am trying on a new wig or topper, I take pics of every step of the unboxing. If I decide to return it, I refer to the pics when packing the item for return and have always received the maximum refund.
This is a great idea!! I've started filming my reviews straight out of the box, and loved kind of sharing in that first look.... BUT ... now I see there's a dual benefit to doing it that way because I have the whole thing documented! Very very smart!!
I wish some one would invent a piece of lace with hand tied hair on it that you could attach to your mono top. I spent too much money on a glam seemless topper that I can’t get to look realistic at the hair line or in the parting. I’ve tried all the tips and tricks and nothing works. Turns out I should’ve ordered a lace front since I have very limited leave out hair to make it appear natural. Now, I’m suck so again a piece that could be used to make it appear like a lace front would be ingenious!!!!!
Thank you!! This is why I always recommend that folks start with a cheaper synthetic until they work out what they want. Lace front, silk top, how big of a base.... the world of toppers is WIDE and because you can't really customize them too much because the blending has to be seamless! And, it would take a lot of skills to get that lace to match and blend!
I can try!!! Can you clarify what you mean by Clip-less? Almost all hair toppers have SOME clips. It’s just a matter of how many and where they are located
@@TheWiggyWoman thanks so much for yr fast reply! Clipless means without those painful clip ons which pulls and create tensions on my scalp & hair. Thanks. I hope there are miracles for me.
I just got this topper grip today! Let me know if you want to see a video review of it! It allows you to clip the topper to the grip instead of hair!! amzn.to/3dvKhq0
I’m wearing it for the first time, right now!! I’ll post a video tomorrow of how I clipped it in and how it turned out! So far I’ve had it in for a few hours and it’s been amazing! Hasn’t slipped at all!
Thank you so much for this video! I am just about ready to buy my first topper and have been overwhelmed. What are your thoughts about Lauren Ashtyn toppers? It’s just really scary to buy something without being able to try it on in person - the return policies make me nervous.
I haven't worked with them before, I noticed that they're in South Carolina - but I did just reach out to them via their website email to see if I can get more info about them and whether or not this is a brand I'd recommend. If you've never owned a topper before though, I'd HIGHLY recommend starting out with something that is inexpensive and returnable. Toppers especially require trial and error. Once you figure out exactly the size, color, density etc of the toppers you like... then invest in an amazing piece that looks flawless. I definitely wouldn't make your first piece a super expensive one because you learn a lot in the first few months wearing them.
I really appreciate your advice, thank you for the response! I’m excited that you reached out to Lauren Ashtyn and hope you get a reply! They do ‘shows’ across the US where you can try on their products before you buy. If I ever did decide to spend that kind of money, I think I would want to do the in person try on for sure.
I think anything would look good on your face shape. I have a short pixie cut but my hair is thinning at the back of the crown. I can't seem to find the right topper for me.
The funny thing about my face shape is that is evolving! I’ve lost about 50lbs since my first RUclips video and this one! I didn’t even really know how to wear makeup! So, it’s interesting to see the same styles still flattering at my newer size! There’s definitely some that aren’t as cute as others 😜
You can always get a topper that is LONGER than your hair and have a stylist cut it! There are toppers that just cover the crown called crown toppers, Jon Renau has one called EasiCrown! Don’t be limited by the few standard lengths and styles. Customize everything for you. Even the color, a stylist can match a human hair topper perfectly for you.
Don't hate me... I ended up returning it!! I thought the color was too light for me. My hair blended in with the shading color but it was long enough that I thought it blended weird! I am probably my worst critic and it looked great, but in the moment I figured I'd stick to darker toppers!
Oh! This one?! It definitely has a lot of density, and a big base. It’s almost wig like. Is your hair underneath super flat? Does it feel like it’s just too much of a base or that it doesn’t clip in flat?
