Awesome job! You technique was right on point. I’m a licensed stylist with over 30 years of experience and I. Also an instructor for the past 15 years……yes I’m still behind the chair! It is a challenge to get students and stylists to understand that you don’t always have to lighten someone’s hair to achieve some colors. Proper consultation and through examination of the clients hair so important. I loved the fact that you did a strand test beforehand. Bravo to you!

This may be a stupid question, so you just used hair color, developer and olaplex to color her hair? No bleach? Just asking bc I though you had to lighten dark hair before putting color? I want to color my hair it’s virgin never had color and I like your method so I’m curious.
Yes that is correct, you don’t always need to lighten hair before color depending on the color you are trying to achieve. The developer adds life while coloring for example 20 volume lifts you 2 shades lighter.
This was very informative! My client wants this same color but with a few highlights. I was going to do a lift and drop but this is so much faster and saves the integrity of the hair! Thanks for sharing! 🧡

Beautiful! When you mixed the color for the base, did you use a 1:1 ratio with the 20vol? Also same question for the midshaft to ends color, was that mixed 1:1 also with the 40vol?
Hey love I show the exact mixture using my scale at 2:16 I did the same exact mixture for the base as well just a lower volume.

hello!, I want to change my hair color alone at home and I like this color a lot! , I have a very dark burgundy hair color and I don't want to damage my hair too much, should I use a volume 30 or 40? , thank you for this video your work is beautiful!
Hi Is the Dark burgundy a permanent hair color or semi permanent? You need to find your starting level to know what volume to use. I don’t recommend using a 40 at home the higher the lift the more damage it can cause.

Hi 👋🏾 I just wanted to ask , I’m going for this exact color but have shorter hair ,about eyebrows /ear length. Would I have to do it the same way and then going back with the 20 developer on my roots or instead just a 30 volume for my entire head to get the same results so it processes evenly?

How do you know if a lightener is a kind that will swell or won't swell? I know it's frowned upon but it's all I can afford, I want to lighten my hair with a box bleach kit to get rid of existing colour to dye it a different colour and just want to know if there's a good way to differentiate to know how close to go to the root! Thanks in advance
Most clay lighteners don’t swell because they are made to paint the surface. I know from experience and some lighteners will let you know or I also will look them up on RUclips and watch to see what happens. It’s one of those things that you learn over time

Which olaplex treatment did you use?
I used No 0. in the color mixture and 2 after she's rinsed out followed by No 8 for the deep moisture mask
I really didn't care about the color, I just love seeing thick black hair (like mine).
How long did you let it process with the foils?
45-60 mins
