Lello was such a hidden gem for so long but I'm glad they found a way to keep it open and get some financial stability from it. I found it randomly before the internet fame and I'll never forget the feeling of going inside for the first time. It was like finding and entering a new world. I find myself quite lucky to have experience it empty. It was me, my 2 friends that I dragged with me inside ( we were at Porto to buy our prom dresses) and the owner. It was just magical to me.
@@chrisplusmelissa 2 more hidden gems when you go back to Clérigos; on the same sidewalk: Pastéis de baclhau com queijo da serra (codfish pastry with Serra cheese) and, right next to that, visit "Conserveira de Portugal" (cannery from Portugal) and bring home a can with your bithdate: what unique souvenirs from Portugal don't you think?.
I totally recommend you grab some local guide from airbnb or something to show you the real gems... I love Porto e can just walk around and it is worth it but if you are a bit tight on time grab a local definitely these old cities have too many hidden gems thank God I had 2 years there to walk around... 🥰
I dont know about the library I allways thought the tourist trap was too much to me but have you seen Mac Donalds in Aliados ? They say it's the most beautiful in the world and that one I believe
I don't know how much more of Porto you've visited, or if you've had to cut anything due to editing or video length issues, but speaking as a Porto native, the best advice I can offer is that, on your next visit, try to find a local guide instead of sticking to articles in magazines. I can guarantee that you will be surprised with how much remains to be discovered and, also, that the experience you will have will be much more enriching and traditional.
Loving your videos guys! In your quest for beautiful bookstores, have you been to Carturesti Carusel in Bucharest? It’s pretty stunning too!! Cheers from Australia
That bookstore looked amazing, would love to visit. The hotel looked so decadent, glad you enjoyed it. I’m not really a drinker but the chocolate museum looked good. I think you’d love Edinburgh Melissa, it has massive Harry Potter vibes for real and I’ve been to the Universal version in Florida. The whole place has a Celtic feel too and I know you already liked my country Ireland so think you’d feel at home there too.
@@cjnge6828 I don’t understand your comment, sorry. I even tried google translate because unfortunately I don’t have Portuguese. I am excited to visit Portugal this year again, the people, food and sunshine are fantastic.
@@tiddlywinks456 he said that you are like almost saying nothing is good here, that ireland is better and i agree with him. Decadent was your words, not the hotel.
@@JPVNG67 I love Portugal, think it’s fabulous and am bringing my family there on holiday this summer. The people are so friendly, delicious food and beautiful country, nevermind the amazing weather. I can’t wait!
That bridge disappearing into the fog/cloud is pretty creepy. As for the wine, a good friend of mine has a pretty strange palate gets kerosene in most good wines... and says he uses that as an indicator for a 'good' wine. lol

If I couldn't make it at the time of opening, I'd still absolutely wait in line for that book store.

That sounds like it must have been quite the experience. It's so hard to find hidden gems.

Loved Porto when we visited, now I see I need to go back

Glad you took your time in the WOW museums. That's how you pick up things and learn. Most people rush through them, and as a result, don't like them.
We would have liked to spend more time, but we were working and, you know, work ruins everything! :D
I'm Portuguese but I'm loving to see you enjoying the country where I live. I hope you continue to enjoy 😊
Thank you! :)

We just moved to Porto... we'll be learning much more I'm sure. :)

D. Luiz One bridge. Like a movie that will have sequel! I laughed way too much at this. I'ts just Don Luiz Bridge, lose the one. Goggle why :)
Lello library is the second most beautiful in the world but, the first one was not made as a library but a normal house ( I think to the governour).
