@@ExpatsEverywhere I like that you take us to the various restaurants and show the food and talk but what you orderd. You touch on different eating preferences as well so everyone has something to go to. Touching base on if the neighourhoods are more for family or tourist. Walking a round and giving some history. Ok so in short just keep doing what your doing lol.

I like my place n vicinity to be all around convenience, grocery shops, eating places, public transportation, most of all, it has to be quite peaceful, away from loud vehicle noises, noisy barking dogs, loud music, loud neighbors, ease of mind. That's d place I'm staying now, but over d few decades of housing development, it has become quite noisy, day n night, which reminded me of my stay in very noisy Mumbai. Hope to be living in a more peace of mind. 😁

Our current 'hood is Marques. What we love about it is it's proximity to downtown without having to be in the madness of downtown. We have plenty of green spaces to walk to dog and let Cia down to play. There are parks with kids stuff that she can play in too. A draw back to this neighborhood would definitely be the amount and variety of eateries, however, we don't eat out a ton so it's okay. Speaking of eating out, we have so many grocery stories in a 10-15 minute walking radius and the area we have to walk is flat. - Josh & Kalie

This series is awesome! I am loving it!! I actually really like this one bc of all the eateries. I’m a weirdo. Street noise and crowd sounds don’t bother me. I kinda find them soothing. BUT hubby wouldn’t like the tourist-y feel. We want to immerse into the culture and its hard to do that with tourist trap areas. Cedofeita still has my top vote! That food though! We would definitely be hitting the area to enjoy that! Love how Cia is so game to taste everything! Can’t wait to see you guys in person! Much love to you! ❤️❤️❤️

Thanks, Angelia!! Honestly, these two areas are so so close, you wouldn't have any problem walking from you home in Cedofeita to your favorite restaurants downtown. We can't wait to see how you rank all 7 of them once we finish this series. You'll have to let us know. Cia is pretty great with food. The one thing that we've noticed is that we can't give her the same veggie 3 days in a row. So if we steam carrots for her, she's good day 1 and 2 but day 3, she's like, "nah". The one exception might be peas. 😅😂 - Josh & Kalie

I also like the mom vs. dad perspectives. I plan to visit soon, looks like a great place to retire (from the USA). I'd also like to see some interviews with any expats there that are actually living local long-term or permanent, and how they earn an income and have integrated themselves. Thanks!

Thanks, PeterD. To be honest, we're really building our library of expat Portugal interviews. Probably Carl and Louisa's interviews will be the two to start with. They're living more like locals than anyone we've interviewed. Thank you for the feedback on the series as well. Our channels goal is to talk more from a living in perspective than a tourism perspective. I've been watching your videos about the different neighbourhoods in Porto and I really like them. As a Porto native, I think you're doing a great job.
I also think your view of Baixa regarding tourists and the cost of living is spot-on. In fact, the residents of Baixa are being forced to move. Some because they can't rest due to the noise at night, and others because the buildings where they rent their flats are sold and they can't afford the new rent (the spike in the rent is meant to throw them out). There was even a notorious case where a building was set on fire and a man was killed (because he refused to move). The man who did it (a Chinese businessman) was just convicted of murder.
I know you're trying to keep these videos lighthearted, but I think you should know that there's a dark side to the way Baixa looks right now and gentrification has very negative consequences for the residents.
I love the new life of Baixa (although I find the number of tourists a bit excessive - when there are tourists, which is not the case right now) and I still remember the way it looked twenty years ago. It would be deserted in summer or on Sunday mornings, and now it's full of life, but I wouldn't live there for all of those reasons, and I used to dream of living in the city centre...

The bookstore is beautiful inside, of course; and I naturally posted “brag” check-in photos on Facebook.

Thanks, Jason. It sounds like we just need to do a video on it. Not sure we could make it 8-12 minutes though but we could show some cool b-roll and never be allowed in Lisbon again. 😅 Basically, it comes down to 3 main things. People in Porto are significantly nicer. Porto's more affordable. Lisbon is too big for us. We like the walkability of Porto. - Josh & Kalie

this is like scrolling through google information on porto. you dont get any sense of what it actually feels like to live there, or what the vibe is like. would recommend trying to put more personality in these videos so that we feel a bit closer to the experience and not so detached. i didnt really come out of watching this with any new information that help me understand what the experience of living there is really like.

You're the first person to give that feedback and this video has been live for over a year. Sorry that we didn't give enough personality but we're just being ourselves. My Eastern European side is a few generations removed for their immigration to the US. Kalie's dad immigrated to the US alone when he was 9 years old! It's quite a story. - Josh & Kalie

Hi guys... If you want to try the best francesinhas in Porto, you must try at Barcarola, in Rua Costa Cabral (near Conde Ferreira Hospital), Capa Negra (near Igreja do Bonfim in Campanhã) or the Verso em Pedra in Ribeira (in front of the car parking of Alfândega). The Barcarola and Capa Negra are very knowned because of the university students (former and new) that usually hang out there and, sometimes, a Tuna (that`s like a choir and musicians of university students) can show up and give a live improvised performance... after a couple of beers, just for fun, for initialising new members or just to raise money so they can participate on festivals in Portugal or abroad... By the way... there are 3 major students events you guys can´t miss (if the pandemic slows down and they can organise it) : Noite da Serenata (serenata´s night) - usually takes place at the stairs os Sé cathedral at midnight in the month of May; Benção das Pastas (a ceremony where the Bishop blesses the students that will end their studies); the Queima das Fitas week (for a hole week there are live shows of music in the Queimódromo (near Parque da Cidade)) and the Desfile dos Finalistas ( a parade where the new students are introduced to the city and those who get their degrees say farewell to the Academic life...). You can look up some of these past events on youtube... And look also for our noite S. João ( saint John´s night ), one of the saints patrons of the city... Another big festivity occurs when FC Porto wins the soccer ligue or another big national or international competition... The Av Aliados becames a big white and blue "ocean"... sorry for the long message, but i felt it was needed... Keep on going descovering the city little secrets (and try to make a special stream of the beautiful hidden gardens of Porto). Thanks, keep save and God bless your family

I dig Oporto, however the market is geared towards airbnb and tourism rentals...Most apartments are already furnished including internet and etc...Real estate agent's are not licensed and the real issue is the owner's of the unit's...Some of these Cat's want as much as 6 or more deposits just to move in...I have lived in Portugal for more then 4 year's...Seen the game's they like to play, still waiting for our deposits to be returned on are last unit...I chose Ponte de Lima...A perfect blend of traditional small village vibe, yet 30 minute's to Braga and or Viana do Castelo...Beautiful nature and peace all around you...After 4 year's of living in the capital...The pizazz is gone...Green acres is the place for me...Boa Sorte...
