Crazy how different Seattle's and Baltimore's defenses look from last year to now. It's almost like they've switched places. MacDonald is one special coach.
I really think the emphasis for Woolen being a Coverage DB and not a Press DB has made a huge impact in how the back end operates, and unlocks Woolen as a player. He'd play Press because he knew he could keep up with wideouts, and slowing them down was good for their defense in 2023. In the current space, he's (as you said) begging for the ball to be thrown to his side, which is almost always a bad decision now that he's not getting beat by amazing WR's or by himself with dumb hands to the face penalties. He's basically a defensive version of Metcalf, just being an agitator and a ball hawk. This ALSO lets Witherspoon, a much more wily DB but maybe not as physically imposing, play a bit more free and clamp his target down. Its effectively a pick your poison between letting Woolen gets tries on the ball, or get nothing after the catch against Witherspoon.
I love these breakdowns!!! Thank you for taking interest in my Hawks and breaking down the film. We've needed this type of coverage. It's greatly appreciated!!
Seen a chart on Macdonald's defense he's mainly using cover 1 cover 3 over 30% of the time with cover 4 at 16% and cover 2 and 6 just 10% of the time he hasnt called cover 2 man or zero blitzes now I'm curious to how he sequences the plays which coverage in what down and distance I find this fascinating
These two are so talented with such interesting skill sets. I can’t wait to see how their time with Coach Mac plays out. Three games in and they’re a fun and intense duo.
Not just a rematch for Macdonald. The Seahawks have played Detroit in Detroit last year and the year before, winning both games in shootouts. This is the 3rd year in a row. I'm sure the Lions would love some payback.
Even though you have riq and Witherspoon theirs 3 CBS on the field at all times think we still need a bigger cb like Emmanuel Forbes with long arms much bigger than tre brown
I mean stating the obvious, but I think Woolen's shoulder injury last year was probably not helpful for his tackling efforts. He definitely did have some poor tackling film his rookie year despite the picks which was notable but not a problem, and this year I don't think he's really been forced to show it to this point yet whether he's improved or stayed put on that front cause the tackling through the middle of the field has generally been much better this year compared to the previous few years that saw the defense as a whole unable to stop the run. But yeah I'll be eager to see where that lands towards the end of the year.
Great vid thank you! This upcoming Detroit / Seattle game is huge! Do you think Goff and St. Brown will be able to do anything against this awesome Seahawk defense?

Too early …. And this is too good to be true
Way too early and you have to put in context the teams specifically the offenses they’ve played.

@mach183 this is dejávu from last season I'm not sold on Seattle's rush defense and when seattle faces an elite pass* rush we will lose

Would love a live stream!!! Seahawks fan here, but Lions fans are also great. Lions have such a great team and coach.
Man I love this channel. Keep killing it
Yea a play by play livestream would be great and a livestream for the preview too
Excellent choice - two of the top defenders in the NFL …. Keep feeding me my SEAHAWKS - Please & thank you Coach
People forget about Tre Brown he makes that cb room a great trio. One of the best press and man corners in the league!
And there is a reason why he’s forgotten
@@mach183 yeah cause cb3s get snubbed. When he leave and pop off come back to this comment pussy
@@mach183 comeback here when he picks off Jared Goff next week
@@nt0949 I don’t need to comeback anywhere …. Spoon and woolen are the real
MVPS on this squad … come see me when he gets pic …

So glad I was able to watch this! Fantastic work.
Love the in-depth evaluation and information. Keep it up!💙💚💙💚
thanks for all the awesome film breakdowns!
Love this breakdown!

I'm down for a livestream if I can make the time for it!! Also I think the observation of Riq being less "Handsy" is right on.

I am IN! Love the content! It's the equivalent of an edible...
Would love any and all Seahawks coverage you’ve become my go to for Seahawks content over other full time Seahawks creators
So both Witherspoon and Woolen are individually allowing less than 14 passing yards per game? That is EPIC!
Live streams are a ton of fun, great way to grow a community
Love the Seahawks content, subscribed and shared!
Your content always gets two thumbs up. ‘Spoon is a live wire, totally dialed in whether it’s during practice or playing a game. Keep feeding us 12’s!
Another great video brother
Great work really good film breakdown. Keep doing your thing.

Man you make a lot of content. Love it. Go hawks!
Nice coverage
Any video you do for the Hawks will be fantastic!!
Woolen is tied for the 5th fastest 40 time in combine history, and his in-game speed is not much slower.
Witherspoon got buzz saw’d by D’Mo on that 40 yarder. Man went down like he’d been Tombstoned.
hell ya !!! stream it !!! you know mike macdonald will show the world who he is as a play caller !!! go hawks!!!!

Oh yea. Please do a game preview

I think it depends if they can get the run game going then maybe that’ll open it up more but potentially no Laporta so they’ll have to target the dbs
This D is so stacked.
If there’s a weak spot, which position do you think it is?
Also, yes please on the livestream.
Legion of Coom on TOP
Woolen got several penalties for illegal use of hands last year, i think the coach work him into a better player without making same mistakes
Remember last year when our team would get beat by back up qbs? So I mean either way it’s an upgrade
No disrespect to Seattle but they haven't really been tested yet. Broncos, Pats, and Dolphins without Tua. This week is the real test.
This week will be the real test hawks whoop the lions then they will be solidified
💚💙🫰
I’m a biased Seahawks fan but I think spoon is better the sauce
Sauce has had a tough start to the year so far
