There are many varieties of mullberries both red and white.
The red ones are native but the whites were imported long ago.
The native variety tends to have smaller berries. There are some trees that you can order from different places that will grow much bigger berries.
I found some saplings growing near some older trees along a creek and and I dug them up and planted them near my house. They have gone from four feet tall to about 18 feet tall in just a few years.
It seems like my trees want to bear every other year. Sometimes the fruit is big, some years it's small. It's the weather and rainfall I suppose.

@@johnndavis7647 There's a Persian mulberry tree that bears white fruit. Another mulberry variety that comes from Pakistan bears long, dark purple fruit. Love them both! And yes, mulberry trees grow fast and they provide good shade. The kids love picking them and the juice will stain their clothing.
