    Bro i can’t thank you enough. I am usually very good at trouble shooting things. I just bought this exact battery and was about to return it. For those watching this and still having trouble, MAKE SURE you depress the release on the battery fully and do not let go until the battery is fully seated. Nothing is wrong with the battery. I was livid 10 mins ago as i just spent $170 on this battery

    If only DeWalt had made that clear. I bought 2 12AH batteries and took them with the new chainsaw up several miles into the forest to clear some trees off of trails, only to have no working batteries for my chainsaw. Wasted many strenuous hours of my time. Even took my batteries and saw into the DeWalt service center and they gave me 2 new batteries (600.00 value!) which of course had the same problem. Thanks so much for posting this and finally helping me figure it out!

    saved me a trip thanks for making this. Crazy that they turned out such a stupid design. Would have been simple to design it so the lights don't light up unless it's actually charging. Doesn't give me much confidence in DeWalt's designers. Not sure I can trust them to design something that will last a decade if they can't figure out how connect a battery to a charger. The old gravity contact system worked just fine.

      Try a different wall outlet and when you press the battery release button push it all the way in to seat fully. If that doesn't work, check the terminals on both the battery and charger, they might be damaged, bent or dirty from something thus losing contact.

      @@DIYMaistor hi. Try cleaning terminals on battery and charger with electronics contact cleaner. If you want? Slower but very effective: soda bicarbonate and distilled water. After about an hour clean with toothbrush . Don't rinse. Use a cotton bud or fine artist brush. If you have a compressor? Just blow clean. Rubbing alcohol also works well bit it's dirty terminals and corrosion. I've repaired quite a few battery chargers and batteries. Don't buy Vanon dewalt cordless imitation batteries. A 5 AH is really a 3 AH. Terrible balance board and cells are lighter compared to dewalt cells. Btw. When batteries reach one bar it's good practice to put on charger to extend life. The dewalt balance board is meant to cut out! But I leant a few batteries to my neighbor who drained down to 2.5 volts. I used a dc to dc converter from eBay with a LCD volt and amps readout gauge to jumpstart the battery. Now perfect but use a multimeter please. Slowly adjust volts to around 14 to 18 volts. You can get away with less as long as one bar shows. Im particular. I hope this helps. Btw put a fan on DC to DC converter ( boost converter). Guaranteed to work. I've been doing Electronics techie work and Electronics engineering for around 15 years now. Cheers from Australia 🙂👍👍👍

    How can you charge a 60 volt battery with a 12 to 20 volt max charger the under charge protection built into the battery would stop charging at a higher voltage then that charger can charge it would always show fully charged when you plug it in because it always has at least 20 volts light would start flashing showing it is charging when protection on battery kicks.

    • @DavidDiaz-zp4hu
      @DavidDiaz-zp4hu 26 дней назад

      Because at 20V it's still charging all the cells, it's just charging them in parallel as 20v packs. All the '60V FlexVolt' means is certain tools that are 60V flexvolt tools have different electrode tab configuration that makes all the cells run IN SERIES... That's why u can run 20VMax tools with them, the 20VMax tool electrode tab layout caused the battery to run 20V Parallel..

  • @joeanania2257

    Total bunk, look close at charger..... You DO need to seat battery but do not have to hold clip for it to work as there is no lock clip on charger to stop it from seating, it is the friction of contacts!
    You just need to push it on until seated..

    This was an exact replacement for the old one that lasted about 10 years. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx7yWIKcrbA9KMHkGSfcgxW2lsjHT6B8Sh The top of my mitigation tube by my roofline was just a 90 elbow which allowed too much debris to fall down into the fan, eventually ruining it. Without this issue, I bet it would have kept running another 10 years. When I replaced this fan, I added an extra elbow joint so the top tube now it does a 180, which should solve that problem. The radon guys around here wanted to charge me a $300 diagnostic fee, then parts/labor (probably close to $600 total). I installed this all by myself in about an hour for the cost of the fan; it would probably be even easier/faster with two people. FYI the manufacturer's warranty greatly differs depending on whether you install it yourself (1 yr warranty) or have a licensed installer do it (10 yrs).

    I highly recommend not using the black charger for any 60 volt batteries they have a defect that reprograms them and you will not be able to use them on the 60 volt tools frequently. The gauge on the sides of where the slots are to go into the charging port is what needs to be activated but even with that as described there is a flaw made with the black charger over the yellow charger and the way that it charges them. I've owned a battery business for 15 years and this is the common problem that we are seeing

    • @eoghanhennessy443

      Does this effect any tool using the 60 volt in 18 vokts tools i see a lot of guy blaming tge 60 volt damaging there tools are yoh aware of this

    • @peterbaldwin757
      @peterbaldwin757 2 года назад

      @@eoghanhennessy443 well the only way you can use the 60 volt and an 18-volt as you'd have to have the adapter which is a 18 volt pop in style battery with the thumb like the old school nicad ones that converts at the bottom to a slide on 20 volt. You'll be able to use the 60 volt if you have that adapter but it's the charging mechanism which needs to be the yellow charger when you recharge the 60 volt. Did I answer that correctly I'm not sure if I follow because usually it's about the 60 volt into 20 volt tools. I mean technically the 20 volt battery is an 18 volt battery but they claim it as a 20 volt Max because with the maximum voltage it's 21 volts but at nominal rate it is still 18 volts it's just a marketing technique that they use that they only allow in the United States nowhere else in the world

    • @peterbaldwin757
      @peterbaldwin757 2 года назад

      @@eoghanhennessy443 as far as the 60 volt ruining the actual 20 volt tool there is no real possibility of that happening it's just that the tools aren't made that well anymore to be honest with you. I've been refurbishing and rebuilding power tools from scratch for a decade and I'm very familiar with this stuff. Here's why that won't being effect to it or at least shouldn't be. The 60 volt battery doesn't engage until the two prongs that are to the left and the right of the main terminals of that battery are engaged and pushed in and those two slots are not on the 20 volt tool so the battery will never engage to a 60 volt and since 20 volts is 20 volts the only difference is the amp hours which won't affect an actual tool because it's just based on the run time with the amp hours. The only way as if somehow that battery got engaged while on the 20 volt tool then yes it would fry it quite easily. I've seen weirder things happen so don't get me wrong the battery could short out and kick itself over into 60 volts or it could get engaged somehow with those tabs being pushed in but that's awfully rare and tough to do but I wouldn't say it's impossible
