Y'know it's really interesting how the song talking about PB being a dictator actually comes true PB never really changed until the interaction with flame princess near the end of the series it's really amazing how the writers kept the continuity of PBs character the same lining up with the events soon to come in the series
My favorite thing is hearing the two contexts. Young marceline with her more emotional angry breakup song singing and older marceline more chilled and happier, almost hesitant song because the song is being sung as a means of pushing back the beast. The fact you can hear it without the show is so amazing

This might seem dumb but I personally relate to this song. My ex told me that he is a narcissist and pretends to be "perfect" so he can get close to people and get them to do whatever he wants. He says he does everything for a "gain" but then goes on about he actually liked me and there wasn't anything to gain. But he also said he never actually cared about me since he only cares about me. He said my music taste sucks so I'm just gonna write a song about this whole thing and hope it gets some streams so I can prove him wrong about that. It just sucks because he basically openly admitted to manipulating me. I ruined all my friendships for him, I feel so stupid. Normally I'm smart about these kinds of things and know when to walk away, but this time I couldn't. I felt like I needed him to like me, he was all I could think about. And I will say I was by no means perfect and I did a bunch of things to. But I never did anything like that, how messed up does one have to be to do those things. I can't imagine what he's going through, I'm worried about him. He needs serious help if what he's saying is true. Even if it's not he still needs help because there's an underlying issue behind why he said what he said. I can't tell if he's just trying to be an edge Lord, maybe he watched something and decided to be like one of the characters? His grandpa died a few months ago, maybe it's hitting him harder than I realized. I showed my friend the texts and he said that he was most likely trying to manipulate me. It's hard that none of it was real, when he said "I love you too" it was a lie. He even said he uses his mental issues to his advantage. I thought I knew him, I can't describe the way this hurts. I really loved him. I wanted a future with him, I wanted to marry him. I was even saving up money. He was my universe, my center. I know it's silly but I thought he might even be my twin flame, the one person who I'd search any lifetime for. For him I would have done anything. Young, dumb, and in love as they say. Honestly I'm surprised this doesn't hurt more. Maybe it's because I had a feeling the entire time that something wasn't right about him. That his intentions were screwed but I told myself I was just insecure. Relationships aren't everything, but true love is. Normally something like this would make me feel worthless but this has made me value myself more. I need to put myself first more, I need to live my life instead of just living for others.
