Dark Passage was on TCM today. Had to look it up again on RUclips. I can imagine Bogie waiting for his Baby at a table just like this one in heaven. No, that wasn't acting, just two people so in love and crazy about each other. Watching them is a thing of beauty.
Audience taste in movies changed after WW II...that, coupled with drastically falling revenues due to the advent of TV led the studios to cut way, way, back...then came the 60s and well, the less we think about that, the better.
Johnny Mercer, Richard Whiting and TOO MARVELOUS FOR WORDS. Bogey and Bacall in love. A movie yes but haunting and beautiful. A great piece of Hollywood at its peak. Too marvelous for words.
Knowing they were a couple in real life - and it shows, doesn't it? - adds wonderful emotion to this scene. This is especially true because throughout the entire film, Bogey's been unjustly accused and has suffered for it. Now, in the finale, he's beyond all that and he and Lauren are reunited. Although it doesn't appear here in this clip, as I recall, the couple in the bus to Arizona who sit down in front of him ("Aunt Mary" and the guy) have just met in the bus terminal. She's very lonely and this nice man starts to chat with her. It's implied that they too are going to be happy together, just as Bogey and Lauren are in the final shot.
Bacall and Bogart cheated on eachother just like Hollywood couples today. They had a few years together before She was seeing Frank Sinatra and he was seeing his Mexican secretary. They are still my favorite couple but when I found out about that it disappointed me and tainted the Romantic notion I had about them.
The ending seemed kind of weak. They should not have killed off Agnes Moorehead. Agnes gave the film a much needed lift and edge. After they shoved Agnes out the window we are back to just two people spouting sweet nothings into one another's ear.
I love this movie. It's unfortunate that most people today have never seen it. And I've often wondered whether Stephen King got the idea for the ending of "Shawshank Redemption" from this film.
THE MOST ROMANTIC SCENE EVER!! AND I WAS BORN IN LIMA PERU,,,PAITA IS A SEA PORT IN THE NORTHERN COAST OF PERU.....BELONG TO PIURA DEPARTMENT....VERY TROPICAL WEATHER,,,,NOT FAR FROM EQUATOR BORDER....FROM LIMA IS 800 KM...SO YOU CAN HAVE A BOGART MOMENT!!
They should not have killed off Agnes Moorehead. Bogie should have married Agnes out of spite and then revealed who he really was to her. That would have made for a much more interesting ending than this cheek to cheek forever Hollywood ending.
In real life, someone in Madge's situation would have never committed suicide, anyway the autopsy would have proven she had thrown herself from the window voluntarily, when someone gets pushed there is always some bruise on their back.
So freaking good. Booggy played a criminal and detective in dark passage. Incredible backdrops, San Fran bridge, cruise ocean view, street of San Fran, shopping community. Boggy discovered a witch was murdering everyone around him and put him in prison for it. Not just one 3 murders framed him for 4 murders cause she was in love with himhim and wanted him.
Only in vintage Hollywood flicks do all the night spots look like Rick's Casablanca Cafe...and I wouldn't have it any other way. Let Victor Lazlo have Ilsa; with a babe like Irene...you get my drift.
This 4 minute clip is better than most whole movies! I love Bogie & Bacall!
I couldn't agree more. Those two were nothing but class.
This is not acting!! This is two people who love each other. No acting was neccessary, just look at them!
Howard Hawks Spotted It when They Were Making To "To Have And Have Not" There's An Undercurrent in All 4 Of Their Movies.
From the moment they met, the chemistry between the two was so brutal, that sparks flew over the place 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This final scene is exactly what I hope is happening right now. Bogie is waiting at the table in heaven as we speak.
Woah that hit my heart deep
He was probably Waiting At The Gate With St Peter.
Frank. No, Bogart was a one man show.!
Francis... Well, four years later and Betty has now joined him.
You are making me cry. ❤️

Dark Passage was also playing at a movie theatre in NYC yesterday.
Hollywood, what happened to you??? You studios used to make soooo many great movies.......
Audience taste in movies changed after WW II...that, coupled with drastically falling revenues due to the advent of TV led the studios to cut way, way, back...then came the 60s and well, the less we think about that, the better.
I was saying the same thing!
Best ever “ they’re playing our song” moment.
Johnny Mercer, Richard Whiting and TOO MARVELOUS FOR WORDS. Bogey and
Bacall in love. A movie yes but haunting and beautiful. A great piece of Hollywood at its peak. Too marvelous for words.
Their Favorite Movie was "To Have And Have Not" (For Obvious Reasons) But MY Favorite Movie Of Theirs is This One. "Dark Passage".
I agree - the best ending - should be played at next year's Oscars
Dark Passage is my all-time favorite Bogie movie!
Mine too, with The Big Sleep being a close second.
I love this movie, the emotion was real. Bogie was classy. no one could speak like him. Lauren Becall's voice was Heaven.

Yes Hebneh It Does. It Shows through all 4 of their Movies.

The song is "Too Marvelous for Words." ❤️ Years ago, I included this in a VHS collection of Endings, along with the ending of "Key Largo. "
Johnny Mercer. Great song. Great Ending.
Great underrated flick.
One of the best endings, legendary Humphrey Bogart put a lot of emotions in his role in this movie.
Sooo romantic ending.
I think he should have run away with Agnes Moorehead just out of spite. That would have been a more interesting ending.
It never gets old, does it?
Reminds me a bit of the Shawshank redemption. Another great movie.
Very romantic😍😍😍
I might have kept the camera moving in on Bogie as tears filled his eyes...
So Do I. It's my Favorite Of Their 4 Movies. I'll Watch it On Her Birthday September 16th.
All four of them were so good though! I have to go with The Big Sleep though.
Theme song for a whole generation. They were the best.
and now they are together......forever
My father loves this movie. Next to Casablanca it's his favorite Humphrey Bogart film.
They sure could make em
They don't make movies -- or couples -- like that anymore. Wow.
Couples like this only exist in our dreams.
@@jackjules7552 I was talking about Bogie and Bacall and they were very real.
Bacall and Bogart cheated on eachother just like Hollywood couples today. They had a few years together before
She was seeing Frank Sinatra and he was seeing his Mexican secretary.
They are still my favorite couple but when I found out about that it disappointed me and tainted the Romantic notion I had about them.
Real CLASS. ❤️👍🏻👍🏻
It's a great ending to a great movie. 👍👍👍
it's just my favorite movie
excellent movie
what an ending...now they are together...forever....
The ending seemed kind of weak. They should not have killed off Agnes Moorehead. Agnes gave the film a much needed lift and edge. After they shoved Agnes out the window we are back to just two people spouting sweet nothings into one another's ear.
Get over your fixation of Bogie and Agnes together.
Love this film my favorite classic
Love the melodies!
They really don’t make them like that anymore.
"Dark Passage" is the ultimate "film noir."
your comment brought tears to my eyes
I watched this extraordinary film yesterday , and what surprise. Bogart ran away to my country ha ha.
These were actually better times than what we have now!(sincerity and emotion)❤
awesome is the only word for this movie
I love this movie. It's unfortunate that most people today have never seen it. And I've often wondered whether Stephen King got the idea for the ending of "Shawshank Redemption" from this film.

What a great noir movie ever!
Yes, I agree. It is the sinister character actors in this film that really elevate this film to higher level.
It makes Oppenheimer's affairs on screen look like rain drenched heat-slurp cotton candy.
I like the way in these movies people don't have to worry about money. Can just travel out of the country and hang out in the bar's. No problem.
Well, throughout the film you’ve seen that she’s well-to-do, at least. She lives in a really ritzy apartment. So she can travel to Peru in comfort.
@@hebneh He took a bus! (at least part way)
risico375! I could not have said it better than that; I love Bogart and Bacall in this movie.
I'll be waiting for you.
Интересно
How ironic. Now, Bogie and Baby are cheek-to-cheek forever.
They should not have killed off Agnes Moorehead. Bogie should have married Agnes out of spite and then revealed who he really was to her. That would have made for a much more interesting ending than this cheek to cheek forever Hollywood ending.
@@jackjules7552 bitter, Jack?
@@edwardyoung522 Of course I'm bitter. I'm a bitter bitch. I wouldn't have it any other way. In fact, it is one of my best traits!
In real life, someone in Madge's situation would have never committed suicide, anyway the autopsy would have proven she had thrown herself from the window voluntarily, when someone gets pushed there is always some bruise on their back.
Love that parts of this were used in 'Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid.'
That was a crap movie.

I could never figure out Agnes Mooreheads characters role in this old movie

Habrán visto la luna de Paita juntos?
"You're too Marvelous" one of my favorite songs in one of my favorite film noirs (or is it films noir?).
🎬🌍❤️🎶🎶
Where's the beginning and the middle???? Please show the full movie. Thanks
Dark Passage 1947 Full Movie
I've been trying to find reference to Joe's diner in a Bogart film can anyone assist?
Only in vintage Hollywood flicks do all the night spots look like Rick's Casablanca Cafe...and I wouldn't have it any other way. Let Victor Lazlo have Ilsa; with a babe like Irene...you get my drift.
You have to wonder if any of those set pieces were left over from Casablanca. Sure looks like Rick's.
In the dance scene, are some of the patrons doing the rhumba?
What was the location of the restaurant in the final scene? Was this actually in Peru?
+richard flay
come on it's unnecessary
to go down there for suc
h a short shot
I think its not an actual restaurant. Just a Warner Bros set.
I'm sure it was the Warner Brothers back lot in Burbank, CA.
NOTHING in Hollywood movies at this time was real! Virtually every scene was shot on a set.
Yeahhh... I was raised in Paita and that’s not even 1% representation of it hahaha. Awesome movie though
It should be illegal for people to make bad films not never this one. Only watch TMC everything else is garbage.
Bette Davis did take Warner Brothers to court for giving her bad scripts. She lost the case.
I think that in the real end Parry was captured or killed at the bus station
I think he should have run away with Agnes Moorehead just out of spite. It would have been a more interesting ending.
Great ending.
Just imagine this version
Betty Bacal enters the sea side bar just to find out that Bogy is flirting with a gorgeous Peruvian chick;
