From what I heard WWE tried to help Ahmed but he was stubborn. Multiple wrestlers have said he "just didn't get it" but the only reason why he was hired is because Vince loved his look. So if anything that's the issue I'd criticize WWE for, specifically Vince because they knew what they were getting with Ahmed and hired him anyway
Maybe the problem was the WWF giving him chance after chance and In turn boosting his ego instead of staying humble/ learning from the matches and in ring work/ promos and giving and receiving feedback idk tho always been a wonder to me, I enjoyed watching Ahmed

Some "4 cylinder", Ahmed used to jump over the top rope at 6'0 300 lb from a standstill
He would grab the rope and leap over or jump from the ground the the side of the ring not from the ground over the top rope lol
