Selfish or NOT, as a 41 year old male who was a teenager standing outside of the cup garage entrance, where the A.R.C.A teams garage are was... i was there with a lil ole team my dad changed tires for "Commonwealth motorsports" and i was standing there and my Dad said " son there he goes, if he gets past that fence you'll never see him the rest of the weekend" and without even seeing who my Dad was talking about i knew when he said there "HE" goes, that he meant DALE... i ran as fast as i could to catch him, he was walking by himself.... singing the song, " i dont need no rockin chair" by george jones!!! When i got to him he was all by himself wearing a red button down, wranglers, boots and gargoyles... i Said "Mmmmmrr. EEEEAAAAARRRNNNHHHAARDT" spun around said can i help you young man??? i said " my Dad would kill me for asking for an autograph because he dont want me bothering y'all, but I just wasn't sure id ever get to tell you how much i love to see you up on that wheel... " he said "want an autograph?" I said "if you don't mind sir" he put his hand on my shoulder spun me around to sign the back of my race team shirt, and i already had a small autograph from Elliot on my left shoulder blade and a small one from Martin on my right... He said " well we can't have these FORD'S outdoing us." So he signed the largest Dale Earnhardt 3 autograph in the center of my back that took up the entire back of my shirt.... i didnt know it fir sure yet cause i hadnt seen it, but i could feel it, and it took way longer then a normal squiggly one most drivers in a hurry give you... he spun me back around shook my hand and said "there ya go youngin" big ole grin turned around and kept right on singing that george jones song... and i stood there in the middle of the gates and watched my Hero strut off into the CUP garage at Daytona!!!!!!! So thank you JR for having guests that are strictly there for 3..... I'll never forget that as long as i live.....

Late 90s, early 2000s NASCAR was the greatest. Anyone from that time period, talking about those stories from the pre-COT days. Those are the conversations I love. Its purely nostalgic for me, but if anything these episodes made me realize how far away NASCAR is now and how I'll never be able to feel that way about NASCAR again.

To me completely honest, listening to these Earnhardt stories has brought me a lot of closure too and I don’t even remember anything about that race. I was four years old. But becoming a Dale Earnhardt fan over the past five years I guess you could say I vicariously lived Earnhardt’s career through interviews, movies, old races and written media and I really became attached to him in a way that made the 2001 Daytona 500 a very hard race to swallow and his death even harder.
So even though I am young, hearing these stories has brought me closure too and I am thankful to Junior for keeping his father’s legacy strong

Hey guys, with all due respect, the history, the old, or older guys, the racing stories, are the best part of the show.
IMHO the current drivers are too boring. I enjoy JR's perspective, and his love of the history, and his take on all things nascar.
It's very similar to the majority of the audience, i would bet. Please continue to bring the guys in that have a history with Dale Sr.,

#3 forever! Jr. I went to Daytona again, museum, took the trolly again, stood in victory lane. Then I just stood in front of your Dad’s statue and felt bad. Then I thought about all the times your Dad brought me happiness racing. I still have a #3 on my truck. It gets faded and I put a new one on. When I feel down about it I put on the Talladega race where your Dad came from 18 rows back and won with Kenny Wallace pushing him👏🏻or his Daytona win. I was jumping up and down both races GO DALE GO! It’s funny, your Dad was the only sports related person that I ever felt that way, I tell you what tho, I pulled for you after that because you were always you no matter what, you were an Earnhardt and that was good for me and you proved it. I hated when injuries made you retire, you had that pedigree Jr. you damn sure did. I found another champion to follow John Force, just because I guess I needed one and he was your Dad’s age and tough as nails, but these are dangerous sports racing and we forget y’all are one turn from serious injuries or being killed. So thank you✌🏻peace y’all.

Hey Dale, The history is what needs tellin. It's whats made the sport what it is. I feel like the history bucket provided the most interesting shows of the season. Nothing against the current drivers but we get those stories all week and for four straight days on the coverage of the weekends! What there hasn't been much of - up until your show - is how we got here. Your providing much of that with this format. I for one completely dig it, can't get enough of it! Lastly it gives the old guys a chance to be recognized, credited, and celebrated which they so richly deserve. Keep it up. Never forget the "history bucket"..

Still today Dale Earnhardt fans are still getting over the loss. As a fan, I watched the Daytona 500 religiously, but in that day I didn’t. To this day I remember being awakened from my nap to be told, “your boy died man”! Not really understanding what that meant, I just hurried to my car because I had planned to meet some people at a sports bar. Ten minutes before I arrived at the bar, I turned on the radio to listen to some music and the news flash made it clear who was dead and I had tears in my eyes. I cried. I can’t watch that Daytona 500 anymore. Anyways, it has been nice to learn about all of the stories that I didn’t know.
You should bring the journalist on that covered or was friends with Earnhardt.

Your dad’s brother was one of the best interviews and you guys left tons on the table with him but that’s ok I wanted more of that one and now he’s gone and Grandma too . I have my own Dale story it’s unbelievable but true I’m a nobody but I met the Intimidator and didn’t even know him till I saw him in victory lane on tv in 1998 holding the Daytona 500 Trophy !

Dale, I absolutely LOVE the download.... Our fathers passed within a couple of months of each other.... I was a lost confused 25 year old guy in 2001, I had no clue as to how to proceed with living. I actually looked to you, you made it look so easy, you inspired me, you unknowingly helped guide me through that horrible time in life. I wish I could have thanked you in person when I met you in the garage at Texas last year (Nov 2018) but A I had a fan-boy moment and B, what would I have said?? Anyways, I really enjoy this podcast, the history, and the stories about your dad. My dad was from Columbus Georgia and the stories and mannerisims that you describe about your dad make me think of mine and smile without a lot of pain anymore. Thank you.

😇 amen you guys!!!! I have spent my whole life around race cars. Not Nascar but drag racing. Dale Sr was bigger than life to me growing up!! Your show has help answer so many of the questions I had in my life. A lot of those questions where not about you guys.... but where questions about my self and my broken relationship with my father because of racing. I have not talked to my dad in 20 years because of drag racing. He is still alive some where and as much as I hope I can one day work it out. Your show has helped me be OK if I never get the chance. Racing has always been very emotional to me. With big time sponsors and network TV has done it’s best to remove that aspect from the coverage. Your show has reminded me of the fact we are all just people in the sport putting are pants on one leg at a time just like every one else🇺🇸

All that aside...think of all the interviews with the young guys...one day you’ll see a new champion that you guys interviewed and think...WOW! And that footage will live on with him and you guys captured it for us when he was much younger! Like DJ in the pits in the Goodyear commercial! Way cool guys!

Losing the greatest driver the sport has ever known in the way we did makes for a significant, if not THE most significant story in the sport. But the great news is, there are literally thousands of stories to be told to remind us of the driver, father, hero, idol, and friend he was to so many. We should NEVER forget what Dale meant to the sport so telling those stories isn't selfish, it's educational. It allows us as fans to remember with great fondness how lucky WE were to have had him for the time that we did.

I love when you delve into the history of NASCAR, and I will never get tired of stories about Dale. You aren’t being selfish when booking those guests, but I appreciate that it is a concern you have. Great season! Can’t wait to see what the new year brings for y’all. ♥️

For me, the old stories are the best. I felt as if I lost something that day in 2001. It still hurts. Thanks for the wonderful memories.

I'd rather sit and watch/listen to Dale stories any day of the week. they never get old and if it helps you to bring closure or understand things better then do it. Dirty Mo is yours right. sometimes you gotta do things for yourself.

I honestly prefer stories about old NASCAR and I love hearing new Earnhardt stories. Those years of NASCAR are like 99 cent gas. We didn’t know what we had and we’re never getting it back. Memories are the gift we have to give the new generation
