I think this is what many refer to when they say we should enjoy the journey instead of yearning so much for the destination. Often, reaching the end can make us crash into a wall that we couldn't see before. It is essential to be in a constant state of change and adaptation, as no matter what path you choose, you are likely to face disappointments or regrets. Goals should be dynamic and evolve to make life interesting, although, of course, it’s easier said than done.
Since we are born, we are conditioned to think about what we want to do when we grow up, and we live our lives with that idea in mind. However, upon reaching that point, we often find ourselves without a clear path to the future. Furthermore, it’s likely that we have idealized what we want to do, without considering the tedious steps or whether we will actually enjoy it every day.
When we reach adulthood, our perspective can change drastically as we realize that everything revolves around money and rarely around a love for what we do. Although I am not an artist and cannot fully understand their feelings, I imagine it must be frustrating to be caught in a constant competition with others, when in the beginning, you did it simply because it was fun and you wanted to create something, your inner child started it all without much in mind.
I hope we can all make our inner child happy, the one who looked forward to those goals with excitement, while we seek balance in our adult lives. There is no magic recipe to alleviate this feeling; it depends on each individual. Therefore, I can only send a hug to all those going through this, and I hope you find the strength to keep moving forward.

Thank you for your words, they do mean a lot. Honestly, I thought so too, maybe the journey was really what excited me the most, now that I've reached what I considered my dream I'm just like.... Meh (?) but I'm working on finding new ways to fuel my passion and reignite the spark, and hopefully I'll be better soon

As we get older, we spend more time worried about paying the bills, what our friends have achieved, and what more we can do. These things are a part of life, but they should not become life itself. We need money to survive, but what does it matter if we are too depressed to spend it? You had your dreams crushed by reality, but that’s only one way to look at it. Reality did not meet your expectations, and it hurt to have something that meant too much to you get reduced to dollar signs. Passions are created to make us feel happy about our hard work. If you don’t feel passionate about art, that’s okay. Beating yourself up and feeling forced to continue something that does not feel-good won’t change that. However, spending time and thinking about what got you into art in the first place is something to consider. I keep mentioning money, but you could replace that with time, expectations of other, or really anything that makes you forget why you enjoyed your passion. You don’t have to be the art person. You can just be someone who enjoys creating things that make others happy. Sorry for rambling, but I do hope you can find a way to feel fulfilled in something that used to bring your joy. Also, go to counseling. It genuinely helps to have someone else support you if you ever feel like others in your circle can’t understand.

Thank you! Honestly, I've been trying to look at things that way, it's a bit of a struggle, but I know I can't just be disappointed and stay like that forever, I'm trying to move forward and continuing to enjoy art the way I used to

@@SanXanArts It is certainly not easy to see things that way when you have been shown life should be the opposite. Take your time and be kind to yourself.

San my baby😭🫶🏻 I’m so sorry that u feel that way! I don’t understand myself why we artists are born into a world where art isn’t appreciated. Instead capitalism puts a number on our works and makes us compete against each other. It’s so sad and frustrating that I am scared of other and better artists rather than appreciating their art and being inspired. In our world art can’t exist without being marketable. Everything has to serve a purpose and it’s tiring.
I feel bad that your new job is how you find out that you might not like what you have to do there. The only thing I can say to console u is that at least now u know what u don’t like. And that’s better than not knowing it. I think u should try other things in the same/ similar field until u find something u like! Please know that u can always come to me with sich matters and don’t have to hold them in!🥺 ly and take care!🫶🏻
