Omg this is amazing. Thank you so much for the tips! I will certainly be preparing for the interview questions next week. After a month and half it is such a relief to say I've now completed my portfolio 🎉

But how does one justify free work? All I have are free works on my portfolio. In interviews they ask for the salary slips from the previous job and in the beginning phases of the interview about the current CTC and then really lowball your offer. Do you have some advice on how to get around this?

Mimi, I'm so happy and grateful you made this video, it gives me a lots of insightful advice of how to find the first job from connections. To be honest, I heard people said that you have to connect with others, but I don't really know where to find their connections. So thankful for your efforts in this helpful video. May I ask how many volunteer jobs you took on catchafire? I'm second-year uni student, so let say I have one more year and a semester to find a job? How many months are enough for me to spend on volunteer free jobs?

I have a huge list of good agencies if you guys want that. they are more design/branding focused though.

Reaching out to small local agencies is such a good method! May I ask why do you suggest agencies that have a visual designer already over agencies that don't have any designers at all? Is it because it shows that they value design?

    I like your tips.
I live in UK. I'm trying to get entry level job in tech. So my Aunt owns IT company based in Pakistan(Lahore). The software houses are really cool and modern. They have a team of UX Designers. I'm planning to work there as an Intern (Or Contract) for that team. I hope I get to work remotely rather than travelling to another country. I don't think I will get paid properly but want to gain experience in UX Design.
Do you think this is a good idea?
I'm planning to do a online course in UX Design while doing my work placement there.
