Been listening since I was 11 and found you on MySpace im 28 now and you’ve been the soundtrack to my life ever since. You really make the world a better place with your music. All the best Dallas ❤
I grew up listening to Alexisonfire, his hardcore band, thats what got me into him. Would see local shows in Toronto, a few in St Catherines where he is from.
Same, and I love that this album is fully giving the vibes and feels it did the first time hearing them all those years ago. Love that their sound hasn’t changed too much like most bands. 💕
Dallas, you're loved beyond measure brother. Thank you for your music. My wife and I have been fans since day 1 and danced to northern wind at our wedding. Keep up the amazing work. Another masterpiece
I walked down the aisle to Northern Wind, so I hear ya Fran. We were Alexis on Fire fans when we meet and now we have a date night at one of Dallas' concerts once a year if we can.
AI Explanation for this album (Quite Impressive): Dallas Green, a singer-songwriter, is the main character in this story depicted in the visual album "The Love Still Held Me Near" by City and Colour. Throughout the album, Dallas explores themes of faith, love, loss, and healing. In the opening section, he questions his faith and experiences feelings of confusion and doubt. He then sings about the desire to live freely without being controlled by fear or death, lamenting the difficulties of being separated from the world yet still together. As the album progresses, Dallas sings about the challenges of holding onto love and the healing process that follows heartbreak. He emphasizes the importance of letting go and facing the consequences of our choices. The visuals in the album, such as nature, cities, and people, complement the mood of the music and create an immersive experience for the viewer. The album's middle sections encourage listeners to work harder for love, rid the world of hate, and bow down to love to find a better way to exist. Dallas sings about the struggles of dealing with the darkness in life and the desire for peace of mind. He suggests that by letting go of worry and taking healing hands, it is possible to start over and begin again. In the end, the album comes full circle, as Dallas reflects on the fleeting nature of love and the sadness of losing something once cherished. However, he finds peace and gratitude for the present moment, acknowledging that although there are still wounds that may take time to heal, the love still held him near. The haunting melody and emotional vocals by City and Colour resonate with the audience, leaving a lasting impression of hope and healing.
Thank God for Dallas and City and Colour ......and any of the the people/artists/business owners .....that captured concepts/Feelings in Time .... and now continue to carry them forward because it is timeless .....for me from 2005-2006.. until now ... or like 2012-2015 ish... timelines like that... . and hold this vibe within them ... Still New songs are New as ever But also as encapsulated as ever and much needed. I dont visit this feeling often( I dont actually really listen to music much since 2016 ) because those spots in time were so Elevating and it was so special to me.. but glad I found this today. Thanks for continuing to make the music you do.
I lost me precious daughter Kristen only last month, on 9/11/24, and I've shed volumes of tears that no man should endure...enough for many lifetimes, and music is the only thing that has held me together...THIS music specifically has begun my journey of what I know will be a long, slow road of healing and understanding. City and Colour speaks to the heart "The Love Still Held Me Near" is so painful for me, because it evokes the emotion that I need to feel at this moment in my life. The fact that Dallas and the band put it together as a way of grieving a very personal loss of their own, makes it so much more meaningful for me...almost personal. Dallas - you're a blessing and a light, in a world of darkness and pain. I live in Bellingham, WA, only an hour away from the studio where the album was recorded. On (American) Thanksgiving Day, my sons and Kristen's boyfriend who is flying out from Savannah, GA, are taking a portion of her remains to a place that she loved. On the North Fork of the Nooksack River, near Mt. Baker, are Nooksack Falls, where Kristen will become one with nature in the the salmon spawning environment that she adored, among majestic Douglas Firs and the ice melt of Baker, that feeds the river, I'll be playing "Meant to Be" as she cascades off the fall into her final resting place. I'd love to see the band in BC. I'll have to look for tour dates. Love you all!
I'm 44. Been playing guitar since I was 9, had many bands but eventually put the guitar away to focus on more ''important" things. Your music inspired me to just pick up my acoustic from the closet. Bought an ES335 and a few pedals and been jamming to that album intensely for a week. Thank you so much for your music.
@@EkskrimentLortI took time off from working. At first I felt lost not having a schedule to my day and having other people dictate my course. I started thinking what do I want to do right now? I wandered and wasted time not doing the important things. Then I found myself. I can say honestly that listening to CaC really adds to my day and to my life.
Living in Detroit, seeing all these familiar spots, (Gratiot Grill, the airport, River Rouge factories, Fort St Bridge, etc) is really freaking cool! The countless times driving by these spots while listening to C&C songs, I feel seen!!! Thank you Dallas, DETROIT LOVES YOU!!
You are the best lyrical genius we have been gifted since Jim Morrison … You can easily see that you have an emotional connection with all your songs … Which is what makes your music so amazing
This whole album is hauntingly beautiful from start to finish. I can't say I've been more moved by music than by this album, there are so many great tracks on the album that I've not been able to stop listening to them since you dropped Meant to Be. I'm sorry that it was a personal tragedy that led to this record, but I cant think of a more perfect way to honour the memory and thank you for sharing with us.

Whenever I choose to listen to CaC, it is always a better tone to my spirit, even if I’m thinking about someone from my past and I get a little emotional, it’s all good. I feel at peace.
I was a punk kid in high school living in the GTA when Alexisonfire's debut dropped. I don't even think the music video for Pulmonary Archery had come out yet when I bought it. Crazy to think where we'd be all these years later. Here's to 20+ years and here's to another 20 more. Be well my friends.
First heard about Dallas when Alexisonfire's debut album came out in 2003. I was 12 back then, and now I'm in my thirties. Dallas has always been one of the most iconic Canadian song-writers of our generation. Glad to still be listening to his tunes decades later.
This feels like Dallas is hitting a new level. So many more people are going to know him. And I’ll be like ya I saw him in Saskatoon years ago . And he’s been my favourite singer / songwriter for years now
Dallas' lyrics and perspectives on the challenges we all face in life tears through every atom in my body - he is the voice of my aging body and carries the pain of every disappointment and hurdle I have ever faced. I have a good life but I revel in the sadness. Happiness seems so fleeting but the pain of our mortal existance needs a voice and CIC has always delivered. Canada's best kept secret keeps producing after all these years...
hes proper reached masterhood. Hes an inspiration for all Men on earth. Absolute legend in the sport of music. He deserves a head on the wall times 10000x
My then teenage son introduced me to City and Colour many years ago and I have been a fan ever since. Dallas has the purest voice and he seems like such a good soul. I love the fact that my now 30 something son and I still bond over how much we love this band. They just keep getting better and no other band gets me in my feelings like them.
Thank you for your music. I’ve been through hell and back, homeless, beaten, depressed, addicted…. But your music has been there through it all for me, I’m finally getting my feet back under me and finishing my bachelor’s degree. Rain or shine, I always had you in my playlist, and I’ll forever be grateful for the gift of music. Especially yours.
Good luck to you. I hope it all works out. We all have choices in life. Make them good ones. Dallas has brought me through some tough times also. 🌎❤️🎶🤙🏼
It's wonderful to listen to one song after the other and be thrilled with its effect on me. I can sing along to parts of most of them. I put the tunes on with earbuds and do my daily writing. The music keeps me in the flow and relaxed so I don't overthink or overedit.
In the past 45 days I have lived, suffered, lost and recovered with Dallas music as the album reflect the two coins of Caroline and Ian breaking up over faith and struggling to get back together. Jesus take the wheel. DALLAS ❤️ you bro
This is a beautiful record, especially after learning of the perfect shitstorm that happened at the time of creating. The loss of “Horse”, the pandemic, Turning 40, reflecting on positive and negative relationships. I can relate to each song in a different way. Well done Dallas.
Tá na hora de voltar já. Desde 2016 eu tô em abstinência. Se não fosse o Alexisonfire vindo ano passado eu ia estar esses anos todos sem contemplar um show desse HOMEM.
For years I have not cared for new music coming out, maybe a few country artist here and there. But this is a game changer. WOW, I know nothing about you guys, I just put it on randomly and was blown away. This mature looking guy with the voice of an angel and a production which simply is some of the best I have hear in a looooong time. Thank you guys for giving us new music like this in 2023!!! You have a new fan on a Spanish hill side.
There are of course studio musicians to record and play shows with him sometimes, but City and Colour is a solo project for Dallas Green (City = Dallas and Colour = Green). He writes the lyrics and the music, sings, plays guitar, and I believe plays keys, often he performs acoustically without a full band behind him. He is great, and has been since his earliest solo work! He was/is also the lead vocalist of Alexisonfire, a band from the 2000's who recently got back together and made a new album. You've got lots of old stuff to explore if you're a new fan, enjoy!
been listening to this guy the last 13 years and I must say he really knows how to express his feelings so its safe to say i started to learn his songs
Thank you for putting this record out in the world, it's a beautiful gift and such a powerful yet delicate reminder to cherish this life and the time we're given.
I once thought it would be impossible to top A Pill for Loneliness. Then you drop this incredible work of art. Meant to Be, A Little Mercy, Without Warning, Bow Down to Love, absolute gems.
His music was the foundation of my acoustic venture. Before then, pre-2010, I had a young mindset and was stubborn, one-track-minded on electric guitar, and raging with the feelings I had. Once I heard his music, I wanted to expand my knowledge, and tone things down. I credit his albums for breaking down some walls of my emotion. I have since grown and I am very happy to have followed his career since. God bless, Dallas.
Dallas, you have been with me since adolescence and I’m now 30 listening to this wonderful album. Thank you so much for giving a song for every moment and a verse for every feeling in my life. You are loved!
Dallas I saw you in London 2020, I had no idea what you were going through.. we love you ❤ fan 15+ years xx thank you for being with me all this time.. still a king! X
Was introduced to City & Colour many years ago back in 2005 by a dear Canadian friend. I am 35 now and I genuinely appreciate your music and that kind soul who introduced me to you. Thank you Dallas for saving my life and if you're out there, L.C.C, thank you. May you continue to lead beautiful lives as you've so gracefully assisted me in doing so.
I've been listening to C&C since I was a teenager. Every music he released has a special meaning to me. Thank you so much for drawing into words my thoughts lately.
Words cannot express how beautiful your music is! I promised myself I'll sing the girl to whoever I get married to in the future. Thank you for making my life so much better!! Love you dallas! I hope to see you in Colorado!!!
Whenever I see that horse with Dallas' optimistic, soulful vocals, I'm reminded of the unbridled joy Ron Swanson experienced when he met Lil' Sebastian, and I almost feel it myself. But in all seriousness, an hour of Dallas and an hour of Michael Maxxis'? I feel very spoiled.
Been listening to your music since I was about 15 years old !! I turned 32 few weeks ago .. and still every time I here your voice and that music I’m filled with so much emotion just as I was all those years ago .. thank you for your music x
The Love Still Held Me Near - Mr. GREEN, thank you again!!! I needed this whole album, and I have yet to finish it still. I appreciate your lyrics and this rhythm through this whole album! Never a fail, love your voice!
Me encanta. Thank you very much CITY AND COLOUR ❤️🔥 See you in the way...
I'm at a loss for words to describe the art put into melody on this album. I've been listening, feeling and interpreting it for days. It's amazing how strong is the healing power of it...
Just booked tickets for the Toronto concert. Can’t wait. Get up, get off the couch and show respect and appreciation for this great musician. Don’t why he and his band aren’t monster big. 😊
I just found the man. 10 yrs too late to get me through the death of my husband, but wow, he does validate what all of us go through, how we get through to the other side of grief. This is an anthem to resilience.
My ex from my late teenage years into my twenties really did a number on my brain. I'm still thankful I met him because he introduced me to Dallas. 20 years later. I still love everything he does.
Thank you for chasing your passion and sharing your gift Dallas. Having your music to turn too over the past 8 years has made my life immeasurably better. Can't thank you enough. Loving the new album, Keep up the hard work!
This is such a powerful album. Absolutely beautiful. And courageous. Bow Down To Love. Wow! I'd like to know more about the band members. The bass players is epicly understated!
Such beautiful, atmospheric videos. Fit perfectly with the poignant but uplifting feel of the album. Crazy that all 12 videos were filmed in just 3 days. Congratulations Dallas, Michael and all involved. Stunning work 💚
When Dallas drops an album, I typically listen to it a few times with fresh ears. Than months/years later the material starts to resinate and I will binge listen. Im just now getting over my Pill for Loneliness phase. Thank you for all you do Dallas.
Your music is incredible, the definition of healing music for the soul. This album has honestly helped me shift my perspective and transform my life for the better. Please please keep releasing music like this, the world needs it!
thank you for filming the entire album. I was content just listening to the album cranked in my car, letting all the feels out, but this is great, love the visuals. you got some real style, dal. you've got a fan for life, with me. you're the neil young of my generation, and I will grow old with you, and your music. Canadian talent at its best. much love. appreciate all you do. glad we made it through the pandemic, brother.
This is music for those that have been through it...and have added the mileage of life! Dallas never fails to touch both the heart and soul but the mind as well. Good 👍👍 looking out man! PS I wish Dallas could collaborate with Lera Lynn. They'd make, at least to my ears, for amazing collaboration.
Mr. Green.....a visual album is genius idea. I just wish you had filmed it in Oshawa instead of Detroit, (same deserted old GM town feel, I,m sure) This way maybe i could have seen you in the steets 😅

been listening to this guy the last 13 years and I must say he really knows how to express his feelings so its safe to say i started to learn his songs
God bless, Dallas.
amen!
Danke! Das ist wieder einmal ein geniales Album. Balsam für meine Seele. Thiemo... Ich vermisse Dich!
After Disaster... that one is hitting me right in the feels.
Dallas, you have been with me since adolescence and I’m now 30 listening to this wonderful album. Thank you so much for giving a song for every moment and a verse for every feeling in my life. You are loved!
City and Colour’s MAGNUM OPUS!!! One day I hope to hear this album in its entirety live!
you are a gift of pure beauty in this world.. thank you from the bottom of my heart for the endless times you have touched my soul x
One of the best albums of the year!
Words cannot express how beautiful your music is! I promised myself I'll sing the girl to whoever I get married to in the future. Thank you for making my life so much better!! Love you dallas! I hope to see you in Colorado!!!
You are my church. I look forward to every show. I’m at 30+ shows and every single time I feel this release and euphoria. Love you Dallas. ❤
So you are completely the only other person that gets it….
For Hannah and Scotty..🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤❤❤
Wow. This is truly a masterpiece. Hauntingly beautiful from start to finish.
Me encanta.
Thank you very much CITY AND COLOUR ❤️🔥
See you in the way...
Beautiful!!!! Thank you so much Dallas!!
His album with Pink (You + Me) is powerful, as well.
I'm at a loss for words to describe the art put into melody on this album.
I've been listening, feeling and interpreting it for days.
It's amazing how strong is the healing power of it...
What a great sound...!!! God bless you...!
Thank you, Dallas! The album is fantastic as always.
Fantastic as always 💜
Just booked tickets for the Toronto concert. Can’t wait. Get up, get off the couch and show respect and appreciation for this great musician. Don’t why he and his band aren’t monster big. 😊
I just found the man. 10 yrs too late to get me through the death of my husband, but wow, he does validate what all of us go through, how we get through to the other side of grief. This is an anthem to resilience.
You have, and always will be, my favourite Artist.
Just saved my life
Está arrebatador!!! 🇧🇷🌻
The album completes my soul 🫶🏻
Another amazing album
Your music is incredible, the definition of healing music for the soul. This album has honestly helped me shift my perspective and transform my life for the better. Please please keep releasing music like this, the world needs it!
One of the purest voices and song crafters in the business. Always a joy to hear new material.
This helped me get through a really hard episode and breakup. Thank you Dallas. Forever the soundtrack to my life ❤
Love you to the moon and back ♡
Thanks for such a beautiful record!
thank you for filming the entire album.
This is a stunningly beautiful album! One of the best I've heard in years. Thank you!
i love this album ♥
This is a Great band!
😮😮😮😮😮😮 is the whole album 😮😮😮😮😮😮
Waited for his guidance in 2012. Followed him to California from Afghanistan. Unreal honestly.
Portugal is waiting for you! Great album again Dallas !
Videoclips for the whole album? Wow, this is awesome! You're great, Dallas!
Wow! This is beautifull! Thank you for this magic! ❤
Thanks Dallas for everything!
Epic Album.
Mr. Green.....a visual album is genius idea. I just wish you had filmed it in Oshawa instead of Detroit, (same deserted old GM town feel, I,m sure) This way maybe i could have seen you in the steets 😅
