You make some Great lenses, , but Many people ( Especially tinted or in every day speak sun glasses) don't like metal frames ( even the pretty rose gold) and others don't like acetate usually if they're prescription . I realize you can own as many pairs as you want. Not everyone is a high end optician, who owns their own store .It's really difficult to find an optician who has even heard of the techniques you make ! While you are a very good tecintion you are equally as arrogant. I would love to see you being a customer at an optician in most cities in North America!

The new Cartier rimless buffalo horn sunglasses are my favorite of course. I'm a huge fan of Cartier. I own eight pairs of Cartier eyewear and the buffalo horn are my dream pair. I will own them one day. I've been really into Cazal eyewear lately. My collection is up to five, including two pairs of the Legends series.

I almost bought the Harald a couple of weeks ago. But I went the opposite direction and decided for Ahlem x Palais Galliera in dark turtle.
The Ahlem's got the Zeiss Adaptive Sun Lenses in Pioneer (green) gradient tint. Not to forget Zeiss Smartlife integration and some little tweaks. What a monster.
I see the world 'differently' now 😂. Thanks to you. Great job as always.

Just discovered this channel (in 2024) and have been binge watching it. Have worn glasses for over 40 years and I have never learned as much about glasses and tints at local retail stores here in CAN, as I have in 5 or so videos! Definitely need to make a trip to the UK!

Design is a 10/10, but they have the build quality of brands like Serengeti/randolph and dita, not sk impressed to be honest

Where would you rate Lesca Lunetier eyewear? Also if you haven’t already for affordable sports eyewear look into 100%. They are a relatively new company, but for the price point they are pretty comparable to other eyewear brands in its category.

The acoustics in your room such my friend. It’s so reverberant. Get some acoustic treatment in or put some furniture in the room. It will make a huge difference.

My two cents:
Crystal frame needs G-15 tinted lenses
A “best of” list without Silhouette is incomplete
Gradient tints are not practical when at the beach or on a boat with light reflecting from below
Does the Barton have prima Donna nose pads?

I find the designer sunglasses I purchase at the optometrist are superior quality to those purchased at a sunglasses store or designer boutique. The frames are better made and the lenses have more options for coatings. I bought a pair of black Marc Jacobs glasses two years ago with black lens coating, wore them daily and have had them adjusted twice with no cost or issues. Last month I purchased a pair of rose gold Nicole Miller glasses with brownish lens coating from the optometrist. So pretty. The same styles at a boutique would have both cost more and would not last because the quality just isn’t there. My rose gold is plated though and not like the Cartier you showed
Generally speaking, opticians look at eyewear more from a quality perspective whereas other stores view it purely financially
Dita are great overall sunglasses.
Cazal are my favorite.

I’m curious on your thoughts on Matsuda eyewear and Maybach eyewear. Disregarding this list though. Maybach seems like good craftsmanship, but very overpriced. Matsuda to me seems like excellent Japanese craftsmanship and for it to all be hand made in Sabae Japan by excellent craftsmen in over 250 steps for $500~$700 seems like a great price for what you are receiving. I would love to hear your prospective though.
Yeah I fully agree with your findings. I'm looking to potentially stock Matsuda or Masunaga next year, currently leaning towards Matsuda but it will depend on factors like customer service which I need time to figure out
@@thespectaclefactory I am so happy you considered that. I would definitely go with Matsuda. I think both companies are great, but the craftsmanship and rich history of Matsuda’s eyewear production since the 1960’s makes it unparalleled to many of the other eyewear companies doing similar things. You do have some of the best selections in the world though. I really wanted a pair of Cartier pantheres that I had planned on purchasing from your shop, but unfortunately you were sold out, so I purchased some Chopard glasses instead that were quite beautifully crafted. I am usually picky with Chopard’s eyewear, however I was pleased with this pair. Hopefully you get more Cartier in stock soon, so I can buy some. Anything I can do to support what you and your team does and good eyewear I am more than happy to do.

I know that you probably won't reply to this, seeing as you've made this video some time ago, but I actually really love the glasses "harald". I want to give some context though.
I have never owned a pair of glasses, even though I've had problems with vision at a distance for at least half a decade. One of the biggest reasons for this is that I've never had an eye exam, and I didn't want to admit that my eyes were failing to perform optimally :.(
Now I've essentially allowed myself to get an exam. I haven't yet, but I know it'll probably be a reasonably low prescription. Which all leads me to my question I genuinely just want to know where I can find the glasses barton perriera and Robert geller made a collaboration on, from what I can tell is that they are a limited edition and I simply can't find them. It would be amazing if I could find them somewhere. I don't know how often this happens, but I want to genuinely keep my first glasses for as long as I possibly can.

Hi Bill, if you know me then you'll know I'm even more passionate about lenses than I am about frames... I'm a MJ fan, but they aren't the be all and end all - plenty of other great lenses out there, some better in my humble opinion.
So no, these glasses can't be fitted with Maui Jim lenses (as MJ do not allow that) but they CAN certainly be fitted with other quality lenses.

The regular Ultimate is around $1500, the limited edition Ultimate is around $5,500
