Just a dumb question. Once you have an empty tote and weigh it why not just use it for the next product, you already know the empty weight

You should write the weight of the tote itself on the totes for future reference
My yard makes me dump my stuff in their tote which has the weight of the container clearly marked.
@ksmith8405 my scrapyard weighs them and uses a special paint pen to put the weight on the totes.

When they weigh your empty tub... they should write the weight on the bucket & inital it..... so the weight is already ' known '...

Awesome Paul So glad to see Olivia up and about and busy helping in your shop Listen I did have an idea I didn't notice your bins id/what scrape in each bin and I thought it might save time when you have two people running around with your bins that you weigh each bin empty and place that amount on your bin

Paul: We had the 3rd hottest place in the world. It was brutal went down to 4th place today. I pray we get off the list altogether. I remember you said you've been to Nova Scotia. So you know we aren't used to that extreme temperature. Watching you turn in your non ferrous made me miss my brother in law who was also a scrapper. We lost him seven months ago. So many buckets..... Do you ever run wire through a wire-stripper? Don't remember seeing?
Know you don't like "microscrapping" but it is an easy way to increase the amount of pure copper 🙂 Maybe some dealer could sponsor with a wire-stripper?
We had a big one that some scrappers bought together but it was a dangerous piece of machinery as it pulled the wire through very fast and if you got caught in a loop you where definatively going to a world of pain.
His 50 minute video three years ago: "Stripping copper wire - Is it worth it?"

Every time I come home with wire I take a few minutes and strip #1
I usually strip all my wire #1 and #2 ..but it also give me a better report with my yard in Minnesota

Man i think the scrap yard i go to here in Canada is ripping me off every time I took nonferrous stuff in to them as i would get under 20 bucks

@@ScrapPalletMan always a mix of stuff last time had a good bunch of Christmas lights and they weighed out to be under a pound as the scrap yard I have to deal with doesn't really keep a clear scale most of the time, there is two scrap yards near me and only one allows people to walk in to drop stuff off the other goes by the license plate on your vehicle which to me is not fair as that second seems to offer better prices
@@ScrapPalletMan again prices are different here in Ontario Canada vs where you are Paul so it is what it is can't really make a big deal about it as we all are doing our part in helping to save the planet one scrap run at a time right

I always strip my wire. Do you find it not worth the extra time?
If your wire is already worth $1 per pound, and you strip it, and half weight is plastic garbage and the other 1/2 lb is worth $4 per pound, how much have you gained? If you stripped 30 lb of wire an hour, you would only be gaining $15. But I doubt if someone could strip 30 lb of wire in an hour
@@ScrapPalletMan I guess I see our point on the low grade wire but I would definitely strip the higher grade wire.
May I say you should make all of your drums and containers so they or you have to weigh them again 😊
