Well, one thing I do is modular non-modular. For instance, I have a few spell circles. One of them basically merges the list of one foci with a new entry. So, I can use slates or such with my favorite hexes, and those get slowly added to a focus. The second circle copies the patterns from a focus, then all entities in a block (allowing massive quantities of media), followed by the crafting ones. All 3 are in the circle, you select which one you want utilizing buttons. Switch between any, and quickly! Then, hold the crafting one in one hand, drop the fuel in the slot, and hit the impetus! Then, near a greater sentinel, I have item frames filled with the largest vials of media. Another item frame contains a list of all those blocks. An artifact proceeds to first grab the data of the entity with the references, run it, then preform the recharge spell. As there is well over a million media, this allows an artifact to easily charge any trinket from any distance! (considering making it use a wisp to decrease cost more). Another, smaller circle, is used to refill the phials, as well as that one artifact. I have been working on a whitelist system, which will allow 3 whitelist modes. When make it an artifact, you can choose “none”, “player-activating circle”, and “manual”. None is the same, but Player Activate will first copy the code used for whitelisting, (stored in a reference), then minds reflection. That means finally, the main spell you wanted to transfer. Now, whoever uses the circle has made one only they can use! The other version (pre-set) uses an item-frame that can have a list. That way you can whitelist multiple players, or even (if you get their focus), an enemy! How about making a trinket that only works for one player, and kills them? If I get a blacklist working, maybe it will work one way for everyone, but when a specific player tries it, they die! I also use trinkets/ spells that reference multiple foci (for more modular spells). A few have built-in systems (the light one), and then one that uses foci. Finally, I found one good use for Cyphers. Basically, a single-use teleport. Greater Teleport costs 10 (or was it 20) Charged Amythyst. I have a circle that will make a cypher with a pre-programmed (in the slates this time) spell, that is a greater teleport spell. You put a focus with the co-ordinates to send them to, drop the necessary charges amythyst, and activate! This cypher will teleport you to that location once, and then stop! Great for an emergency return home. Plan on combining with the whitelist, so only desired players can use it. A sort of single-use, player-specific key!
Forgot to mention, the ultimate plan is for all of these to only reference one block. That block contains a focus that contains the reference spells/ numbers. Now it just puts that list in the spell, and can extract the top one from that list whenever said value is needed. If my math is right, instead of needing to “hard-code” the x, y, and z values, then vector them (4 slates for block, 5 for entity), I can just store it on the focus, reference it once with 5, and each useage of it (if my paper test ia correct) will require no more than 3 slates, and all of them very similar. Just mass produce those slates! Not much smaller, but still… when using spell circles or trinkets that are using a huge amount of this stuf… every little bit helps!
you are the hexcasting hero ive been trying to learn how to use this mod after stumbling across the extension for it called hexal (i still havent used it) and it is so difficult to learn how this works but now im placing blocks with just magic because of your tutorial videos thank you
i've been struggling with this mod for the last four hours. i've been piecing together spells bit by bit, but now i'm flying through failed spell attempts with ease!! finally, i feel like a witch! fantastic tutorials!
Hey,wanted to give you a quick thanks for this.Started a modpack with ny friends recently and got assigned with doing Hex Casting.I absolutely would still be stuck doing explosions only at best if not for this :D
3:16 you said clockwise but drew it counter clockwise... both failed for me. following step by step keeps giving me a null. i dont know what im doing wrong ;-;
Wow, I have no idea how I got that so messed up. Scribe's Gambit Writes the top of the stack to an item in your off hand and is drawn to the Right (clockwise), Scribe's Reflection Reads the contents from an item in your off hand and is counterclockwise. Do you have your spell in an Introspection/Retrospection pair (yourspellhere)? Are you trying to write to an unsealed focus or spellbook page?
The first thing to check is if you have the spell on the top of the stack contained in introspection and retrospection. The second thing is that a focus cannot cast a spell itself, you have to read from the focus to put the spell back onto the stack and then use Hermes' Gambit to cast. Are you getting an error at all?
I should do a little video on that. Throw media on the ground and target it with Scout's Distillation. Hold your artifact in your off hand and draw the Recharge Item design. Counter clockwise hexagon and then counter clockwise triangles all around the outside of the hexagon. It's in the book under "Crafting casting items"
Hey I’m I tried to write a spell onto a focus but it said “scribe’s reflection needs a place to read iotas from in the other hand” I had the focus in the other hand
You need Scribe's Gambit to write, go clockwise. After you have the spell in the Focus, you'll use Scribe's Reflection to read from the focus, good luck!
I used all the dust in my artifact and when I tried to do the spell again it just kept saying “you need artifact in your offhand” but I have it it’s just not full
The spell to recharge an artifact is different than the spell to make the artifact. You'll just need some media on the stack using the Scout's Reflection ray cast
Hey, I was wondering if you knew how to create a page in the spellbook? Whenever I try to shift scroll, it says page 0/0 and I can't add any spells when holding it in my off hand and casting.
That sounds like a glitch, try repairing your mod pack instance. If the problem continues, check with the Hex Casting Discord. You're definitely doing the right thing to change the spell book pages. Good luck!
Lightning needs a vector. So you could use the raycast mantra from part 1 of this series to get that. Lightning is also one of the two great spells that you can figure out without the scroll, but it will be easier if you have it.
Any iota from a scroll can be put into your stack with Scribe's Reflection, similar to how we write numbers to the stack from the abacus. Scrolls you find in dungeon chests tend to be Great Spells, and video 4 of this 101 series has HUGE SPOILERS for using those.
Depends on what the result was, do you mean when you get glitched letters in a line of the spell? That's a really good topic and I'll need a video to explain it, I'll do a short tomorrow and then work a longer one on stack manipulation into the queue.
@@viniomito Oh dear, I'd make a test world and try things out with a creative media cube. It won't work for testing getting enlightement, but it's a much easier way to figure out what you want in your spells. ruclips.net/video/e0C8x00jsEA/видео.html could help you out
You can target a Sentinel location as part of a spell, so it can help with positioning things. But yeah, there's a lot of "why is this included" in this mod.
What's your favorite Hexcasting spell? Do you write whole spells to your Foci and Spellbook pages or do you write modular code?

The fact that you can do different spells by moving your cursor in different patterns just seems so interesting to me

I have a problem with the spell at 3:12. It says that Scribe’s reflection needs a place to read iotas from in the other hand but got 1x [Focus]
Idk what this means

Valid. I think it's stronger than Ars Nouveau for a few very specific cases, but mostly it's fun as a programming challenge which some people enjoy

I'm sorry! is it the mod itself (relatable) or the way I've explained some part of it?
