Bad lyrics can ruin a song, no matter how good the music is. Just like really good lyrics elevates the song to be even more enjoyable beyond the music itself. For me personally, I only ever get goosebumps from a song if the music is at least good and the lyrics really well written. By well written I mean it either has a story or a message conveyed well through the words chosen and the music fitting with them. Well written lyrics, in my opinion, also work well as a poem, there is purpose behind each word choice and placement (rhythm, rhyme, etc.).
