Regarding the electromechanical steering, it is normal that you do not notice anything, you have only coded so that it appears in the MMI, nothing in terms of its behavior. Add the following: 44-Steering : Byte 3 Bit 0 09-Central Electric: Byte 8, bit 1 (If your car is Pre-facelift) or 09-Central Electric: Byte 11 Bit 7 (If your car is Facelift).
I also have "ACC" on my B8, it is the adaptive cruise control that follows the car in front of you, this can also be configured in drive select to be faster reaccelerating if the front man is driving faster or taking more time.
Didi you backup your original coding? Or do you have a old AUTO SCAN? And then copy the original coding over and see if you can get it to revert back to stock settings.. Just a though.

It is a software option. It does not need to be installed to work. Yes, you need to install the button if you don't want to have the error, but it still works without it. This is an option mainly for manual cars. It will do to the accelerator pedat the same that my car does when I put it in S mode. What I did not understand when I made the video is that my car can't be in sport mode with the accelerator only, because the gearbox does not know how to react to that, so this option actually puts both in sport mode. It was working even for me, but not how I was hoping. In modern cars most things are just software disabled. Yes, there are obviously some options that require hardware to be installed, but this is not one of them, at least for the accelerator pedal part. What you say might be true for steering and suspension, because those do need special hardware.
youre wrong, i had a jetta 2013 tsi and i enabled the rain sensor with vcds, the sensor was phisicaly factory instaled but not enabled, after that it worked perfectly , same for auto beam

You clearly don't understand how Audi's work. The B8 platform comes BY DEFAULT FROM FACTORY with Ambience Lighting (for foot courtesy lights) turned off yet you can enable it yourself. Why would they have it disabled by factory when it's a fully working feature on most models? Yeah, just Audi things. PS: The option is GRAYED out after green menu activation, BUT IT IS INSTALLED. After VCDS Coding it's an 100% working feature.

Sorry, but I did not do that and I don't know if it's a good idea. Our headlights were not designed for led bulbs, so you might get bad performance for you and bad light for oncoming traffic.
Hello, i have an Audi A5 with a manual transmision from 2010 and i see this option in my menu but it's grey, i can't open it. Activating this option with VCDS works if i have a manual?
Didn't work for me. First of all I don't have the 5F control module installed to enable the Developer mode. But when I press CAR and SETUP buttons a bit different "Green" menu appears, where I managed to find the Charisma menu and checked it, so it appeared in the menu but in gray "non-clickable". After that I did everything in the long coding but nothing changed in the MMI menu - the Audi drive select individual menu remains in gray. My car is 2008 A4 B8 Avant 3.0 TDI Quattro with Tiptronic gearbox and Servotronic.
Because they can charge more for it and an extra option. They just add the button and reconfigure the software. But we are talking about the stuff that does not need extra hardware.
In my particular case, because it's an automatic it just switches it to S like I would do by miself with the gear shift lever. If it's a manual it might just affect the trottle response.
Do you guys belleve that i did it wothout accesing the hidden menu and without a vcds I did it with a maxisys it was so coplicated and hard but i did it finally
You missed the point of the video. This is for cars that do not have an automatic gearbox with sport mode. In some cases it even works for cars with automatic gearboxes by just changing the trottle response and keeping the shift points from D mode. (On my car it did not work and did exactly what putting it in S mode would do) So please, before commenting listen to what I explain in the video.
I could not leave it active, because it would switch to S, and this is not what I wanted. I want only the motor in dinamic mode. On a manual car it should do exactly this.
Bro, I had a drive select activated in my 2018 Q3 without any button installation and no error codes came up whatsoever. But your video has made me wonder if the feature is only available in the MMI but actually does nothing. Because the changes to the car that I feel are quite small (if any). Granted a 2 liter q3 is a fairly simple vehicle but still... Also, I was wondering how come when I put the car in S mode via the gear box selector, it doesn't also switch to Dynamic. In your case it actually happened the other way around - dynamic made the S appear on the dash. Did you finally figure all of this out?
I gave up. Some say the coding was partially incomplete, but it got too complicated for me. Basically I got it partially working as in the video, but I hated the fact that when the engine was in dynamic mode it also forced the gearbox in S. I wanted engine in dynamic and gearbox in D.
@@UltimateDIY I think this is how mine operates - the two are independent. But not too long ago someone asked me if kickdown of the gear shifter into S would also change ADS to dynamic. We tested it with ADS in the efficiency mode which theoretically disengages the clutch when cruising - we kicked the gear into S and ADS remained in efficiency which makes abso-f...ing-lutely no sense. I was on a highway trying to pass a BMW 3 series, I kick it into S and ADS stays in efficiency. So then I needed to also fiddle with another setting to make the car more responsive. Dont you think this is a bit stupid?
Software can make or break a car. I hate the realy slowwww throttle response in D. I have no idea who decided to go with that. I wish my car would behave independently like yours. Mine goes into S and comes with the 3500 rpm gearshifts. I love going trough the city and reving to 3500...not!
But, then again, it should understand a kick-down requires the max it can deliver no matter the driving mode. That behavior you described is just dumb.
@@UltimateDIY There is a little dongle device that you can install which helps you get a much faster throttle response. it's got like 12 different options for drive modes _ from economical to dynamic. I guess this is a 3rd party drive select option. I was offered it when I was retrofitting android auto/carplay block into my multimedia. Do you know about these modules? I refused it being that I had already activated ADS and didn't want any non-factory solutions. Although, a friend of mine who installed it in his Passat was happy with it. I can find out for you if you want - exact model, etc.
Wait, I know what the problem is. You have dual zone ac. In yours it shows individual temps for each zone. I have single zone and it shows the set tenperature on the mmi next to the clock. In my case that is not the outside temperature.
I will try it again this summer. But I did also test with bit 0 deselected, from what I remember and nothing happened. The throttle response did not change.

You can look in the different forums for a solution... But I tested bit 0 on and off with restarting the car and I saw the difference... You also have to enable byte 11 bit 7...
Vagcom doesnt decode the vin and read the modules and shows whats equipped? Or you have any idea what premium plus audis came standard with your was everything an option? Your vids and knowledge are life savers
Sorry, but I don't know standard equipment. Vagcom can't decode the vin. At best you can guess what is installed on the car, base on the modules it can comunicate with.

De cand am facut aceasta schimbare, masina e in permanenta pe dynamic, nu am mai pus pe comfort sa verific, dar cum am spus si acum cateva luni, e un pic mai agresiva masina la accelerare. Daca ai VCDS urmareste pasii din video, dar fa o poza la setari inainte sa modifici, in cazul in care nu iti place sa revii la ce a fost initial! Nu e diferenta mare sa zici ca ai adaugat cai putere, doar ca in momentul in care accelerezi si mai ales la plecatea de pe loc se simte ca e mai agresiva!
It changes the way your car reacts to throttle input, steering input, suspension stiffness... But it only works if proper hardware is present on the car, so it depends if you are lucky or not.

Don try to play with green menu. I did it and all mmi have got lockdown. All menu is disabled. Mechanic explained me, if I do active any function which doesnt exist in my car, mmi goes to the lockdown.
No, not really. Every modification that you do to your car has risks attached to it. Many people take the risk, some don't, it's up to the individual to decide. For your bad situation there might be 10 where the activation helped, so we can't generalise based on your case.

If the height of your car changed when you activated this, you already have active suspension. But you are the first one that seems to have it "by mistake" of the factory, so it's really weird. You need to search a lot on forums and see what else you need to activate so you can controle it.

No. It does not change the maximum power of the engine. It just changes the way it responds to throttle inputs. It will react faster to what you want it to do. But 0 to 100km/h will still be the same.

you have a lot of free time :)) why activating a menu that does nothing just because your car doesn t have the hardware for it? do you have dynamic steering? no. because you do not have drive select. you already have the so called engine/gearbox setup option. is the D/S you have. the engine cannot be tuned separatley from the gearbox. because, in fact, the only thing this option does is to change the moment the gear is changed (at lower or higher rpm). so, you have no direct control over the engine
If you search on forums you will find that is some cases more hardware is actually installed on a car, but it is not activated. For example someone actually had active suspension, but it was disabled. This happens because sometimes parts don't arrive in time on the production line and they are replaced with the more expensive variant, so delays don't occur. Yes, this is somewhat rare, but it happens. No harm in testing. Also, engine can be tuned independently by changing the way the throttle responds in sport mode. Some report on forums that it has worked for them. Sadly in my particular engine/gearbox combination they are linked, so more agressive throttle response can only be had at the same time with higher shift points. The fact that this settings did not have a result on my car, does not mean anything for anybody else and it's worth to test them.
Directia la b8 este hidraulica deci nu poate fi modificata precum la b8.5 sau (toate) a5 iar faza cu motorul nu va accelera motorul deloc mai repede decat la automata multitronic
Ok, incerc iar sa explic ce am spus deja in video. Evident ca nu face nimic daca nu e hardware instalat, dar unii oameni au raportat modificari la directie dupa activare. Asta se intampla pentru ca in timpul productiei exista cazuri cand lipsesc unele componente si se utilizeaza nivelul urmator de echipare pentru a nu opri linia. Doar ca acele componente mai bune nu sunt activate. In schimb, modificarea raspunsului la accelerarie functioneaza pe orice A4 B8, pentru ca ele din fabrica vin setate cu un raspuns mai lent. Activand modul dinamic selectezi raspunsul cel mai rapid posibil. Si multitronic difera de s-tronic. Masina mea are s-tronic. Da, masina mea cand mut in modul S schimbatorul automat schimba si modul de raspuns la acceleratie pe cel mai rapid. Masinile manuale nu au cum face asta, decat activand meniul aratat in video.

For my car the throttle response did not change. But many others report that for them it did, so it's just a matter of luck and what modules you have onnthe car. For bluetooth you need a dongle.

You need a VCDS cable (original or clone) and it comes with it's own software.
But now I use ObdEleven on my phone. Much more convenient.

There might be something defective, or you are comparing it to fully electric steering assist. Those are lighter in general.

It's an early model. Could be a bit different, or maybe your MMI version is different.

Nu e asa simplu. Unele dintre functii nu au nevoie de componente auplimentare. Acelea vor functiona. Cele care au nevoie, evident, nu vor functiona.

Granted a 2 liter q3 is a fairly simple vehicle but still... Also, I was wondering how come when I put the car in S mode via the gear box selector, it doesn't also switch to Dynamic. In your case it actually happened the other way around - dynamic made the S appear on the dash. Did you finally figure all of this out?
I gave up. Some say the coding was partially incomplete, but it got too complicated for me. Basically I got it partially working as in the video, but I hated the fact that when the engine was in dynamic mode it also forced the gearbox in S. I wanted engine in dynamic and gearbox in D.
@@UltimateDIY I think this is how mine operates - the two are independent. But not too long ago someone asked me if kickdown of the gear shifter into S would also change ADS to dynamic. We tested it with ADS in the efficiency mode which theoretically disengages the clutch when cruising - we kicked the gear into S and ADS remained in efficiency which makes abso-f...ing-lutely no sense. I was on a highway trying to pass a BMW 3 series, I kick it into S and ADS stays in efficiency. So then I needed to also fiddle with another setting to make the car more responsive. Dont you think this is a bit stupid?
Software can make or break a car. I hate the realy slowwww throttle response in D. I have no idea who decided to go with that.
I wish my car would behave independently like yours. Mine goes into S and comes with the 3500 rpm gearshifts. I love going trough the city and reving to 3500...not!
But, then again, it should understand a kick-down requires the max it can deliver no matter the driving mode. That behavior you described is just dumb.
@@UltimateDIY There is a little dongle device that you can install which helps you get a much faster throttle response. it's got like 12 different options for drive modes _ from economical to dynamic. I guess this is a 3rd party drive select option. I was offered it when I was retrofitting android auto/carplay block into my multimedia. Do you know about these modules? I refused it being that I had already activated ADS and didn't want any non-factory solutions. Although, a friend of mine who installed it in his Passat was happy with it. I can find out for you if you want - exact model, etc.
With drive comfort the car consume less?
I don't think so. It depends a lot how you drive.

Wait, I know what the problem is. You have dual zone ac. In yours it shows individual temps for each zone. I have single zone and it shows the set tenperature on the mmi next to the clock. In my case that is not the outside temperature.

Probably yes.
Your issue is bit 0 defaults to S mode... Deselect it...
Should only be 1 2 and/or 4... And the rest if you have the equipment installed
I will try it again this summer. But I did also test with bit 0 deselected, from what I remember and nothing happened. The throttle response did not change.

For me module 44 doesn't take.. I have don't ads anything installed, not really sure what good this does me plus I have quattro... You can look in the different forums for a solution... But I tested bit 0 on and off with restarting the car and I saw the difference... You also have to enable byte 11 bit 7...
I will do the test again, as it would be quite nice to have sport mode like throttle response in D.

I think there are websites that can decode your VIN number and give you a list of optional components on your car.
Vagcom doesnt decode the vin and read the modules and shows whats equipped? Or you have any idea what premium plus audis came standard with your was everything an option? Your vids and knowledge are life savers
Sorry, but I don't know standard equipment. Vagcom can't decode the vin. At best you can guess what is installed on the car, base on the modules it can comunicate with.

De cand am facut aceasta schimbare, masina e in permanenta pe dynamic, nu am mai pus pe comfort sa verific, dar cum am spus si acum cateva luni, e un pic mai agresiva masina la accelerare. Daca ai VCDS urmareste pasii din video, dar fa o poza la setari inainte sa modifici, in cazul in care nu iti place sa revii la ce a fost initial! Nu e diferenta mare sa zici ca ai adaugat cai putere, doar ca in momentul in care accelerezi si mai ales la plecatea de pe loc se simte ca e mai agresiva!

It changes the way your car reacts to throttle input, steering input, suspension stiffness...
But it only works if proper hardware is present on the car, so it depends if you are lucky or not.

Don try to play with green menu. I did it and all mmi have got lockdown. All menu is disabled. Mechanic explained me, if I do active any function which doesnt exist in my car, mmi goes to the lockdown.
The green menu is not a playground. You do changes that are already tested by other users and asume the risks.

No, not really. Every modification that you do to your car has risks attached to it.
Many people take the risk, some don't, it's up to the individual to decide.
For your bad situation there might be 10 where the activation helped, so we can't generalise based on your case.

That means you have active suspension. Havin the hardware installed for the suspension, if you did not pay for it is extremely rare.

If the height of your car changed when you activated this, you already have active suspension.
But you are the first one that seems to have it "by mistake" of the factory, so it's really weird.
You need to search a lot on forums and see what else you need to activate so you can controle it.

La masinile cu transmisie manuala functioneaza cu siguranta partea de control al modului cum reactioneaza acceleratia. Pentru ca la o masina manuala nu ai modul Sport, asa ca fara activarea asta nu poti face acceleratia sa se comporte ca in modul Sport.

No. It does not change the maximum power of the engine. It just changes the way it responds to throttle inputs. It will react faster to what you want it to do. But 0 to 100km/h will still be the same.

why activating a menu that does nothing just because your car doesn t have the hardware for it?
do you have dynamic steering? no. because you do not have drive select.
you already have the so called engine/gearbox setup option. is the D/S you have. the engine cannot be tuned separatley from the gearbox. because, in fact, the only thing this option does is to change the moment the gear is changed (at lower or higher rpm). so, you have no direct control over the engine
If you search on forums you will find that is some cases more hardware is actually installed on a car, but it is not activated.
For example someone actually had active suspension, but it was disabled.
This happens because sometimes parts don't arrive in time on the production line and they are replaced with the more expensive variant, so delays don't occur. Yes, this is somewhat rare, but it happens. No harm in testing.
Also, engine can be tuned independently by changing the way the throttle responds in sport mode. Some report on forums that it has worked for them. Sadly in my particular engine/gearbox combination they are linked, so more agressive throttle response can only be had at the same time with higher shift points.
The fact that this settings did not have a result on my car, does not mean anything for anybody else and it's worth to test them.
Nu face nimic daca nu ai hardwareul necesar
Directia la b8 este hidraulica deci nu poate fi modificata precum la b8.5 sau (toate) a5 iar faza cu motorul nu va accelera motorul deloc mai repede decat la automata multitronic
Ok, incerc iar sa explic ce am spus deja in video. Evident ca nu face nimic daca nu e hardware instalat, dar unii oameni au raportat modificari la directie dupa activare. Asta se intampla pentru ca in timpul productiei exista cazuri cand lipsesc unele componente si se utilizeaza nivelul urmator de echipare pentru a nu opri linia. Doar ca acele componente mai bune nu sunt activate.
In schimb, modificarea raspunsului la accelerarie functioneaza pe orice A4 B8, pentru ca ele din fabrica vin setate cu un raspuns mai lent. Activand modul dinamic selectezi raspunsul cel mai rapid posibil.
Si multitronic difera de s-tronic. Masina mea are s-tronic. Da, masina mea cand mut in modul S schimbatorul automat schimba si modul de raspuns la acceleratie pe cel mai rapid. Masinile manuale nu au cum face asta, decat activand meniul aratat in video.

Trebuie sa apesi pe butonul "Reset" de pe partea inferioara a manetei pentru tergatoare. Exact de cate ori trebuie sa apesi nu mai stiu.

Ultimate DIY and is there a code to add Bluetooth audio to the B8? As I’m sure you’re aware that they’re equipped with only Bluetooth phone. Or is the Bovee dongle (and so many others) the only way?
For my car the throttle response did not change. But many others report that for them it did, so it's just a matter of luck and what modules you have onnthe car. For bluetooth you need a dongle.
